Only because in your twisted universe, somehow indictments are equivalent to badges of honor. You're through the looking glass, bub.

The highly educated hate working people. A shocking poll exposes the utter contempt the elite holds the general public
Fnord replied to Dizkneelande's topic in The Geek Club
Hell yeah, bring it. Without having your bona fides, but a pretty wide array of real life experiences under my belt, I wouldn't disagree with any of your statements. -
Oh bullshlt. A Democratic president could cure world hunger, broker peace in the middle east, resurrect the American education and manufacturing sectors and inspire the best economy of all time, and 2 things that are true now would still be true: 1. Righties wouldn't give them an ounce of credit because the media they consume would never let them hear about it. 2. The dems wouldn't be able to figure out how to turn all that success into a coherent message that would turn out voters.

It will be the fault of the liberals that a bunch of malinformed people that fall for soundbites and memes that reduce complex issues into easily digested tripe and consider themselves smarter than experts on any given topic voted for the biggest political conman in US history? Great take Clarence. You can expect a MENSA recruiting call any day now.

The highly educated hate working people. A shocking poll exposes the utter contempt the elite holds the general public
Fnord replied to Dizkneelande's topic in The Geek Club
@Dizkneelande thanks for sharing. Interesting poll. What I take from it is something we all know already: that wealthy people are frequently out of touch with the cold, hard realities of living on a tight budget. Along with their income and education comes a haughtiness and feelings of superiority. "Good for thee but not for me." You see it right here in the thread. The poll itself makes me skeptical of the truthfulness of the respondents, especially the overwhelming majority saying they're Democrats; something doesn't smell right. But whatever, I know you only posted it as an opportunity to score cheap points against liberals, not because you were hoping for a conversation, so I'll exit unless someone wants to have that conversation. -
House Jan. 6 Committee deleted more than 100 encrypted files days before GOP took majority

To be fair, this is the R default opinion of anyone that is politically left of Attila the Hun. -

I might be confused (cognitive decline is rampant right now) with some other Trump related scandal, but wasn't there concern that releasing some of that information could put people in jeopardy of some kind? Curious to see what, if anything, comes of this. I certainly won't get all breathless about it, given the propensity of R's to assign conspiracy motives to everything and everyone. Hard to keep track of all the legal entanglements, there are just so many! -
No Google - Name 4 Pro Sport teams with a State in its Official Name

All 4 MN pro teams. -
Detroit until the SB. As a Vikings fan I'm not sure I'd be able to handle the LIONS winning it all. Although I would be happy for Lions fans, and that would be a much better outcome then GB, Dallas, or NE. KC has become the new evil dynasty, so fuk them too.

Meh. You're too old and close minded to be able to appreciate it. One needs to have stamina, a sense of humor, and tolerance for other humans that don't think and look exactly like yourself to enjoy events like this. Stay angry, Twatadour. It's the one thing you're good at.

Has the weather/climate changed where you live?
Fnord replied to wiffleball's topic in The Geek Club
I will say that I sure hope you guys telling us that climate change isn't real, isn't a big deal, is just a new religion, etc. are proven correct. This is one of those things I'll be happy to be shown the error of my ways about. -
Jamie Dimon says Trump 'wasn't wrong' about critical issues, warns Biden campaign on MAGA label

What is it about his leadership that appeals to you? -
Wait... your restaurant gives bonuses? PM me with the burger chain you're working for. Daddy needs a new bicycle! Congrats dude!

@RLLD Thanks for starting a thread on this. I saw an article about it the other day (from a MSM source!) and was wondering when someone here would jump on it. I share your concern. On the surface, it seems like a gross abuse of power and invasion of privacy. Unfortunately, since it's coming from Gym Jordan, I'm going to wait until more information comes out before I churn up the outrage. He's one of the few people on the short list of being as trustworthy as Trump, meaning I don't believe a single focking thing that comes out of his mouth until independently verified by someone that at least pretends not to be a partisan charlatan. Also, Americans gave away their privacy at least two decades ago. While I mourn privacy's passing, there will be no putting that genie back in the bottle.

Jamie Dimon says Trump 'wasn't wrong' about critical issues, warns Biden campaign on MAGA label
Fnord replied to seafoam1's topic in The Geek Club
Where do you guys come up with this drivel? Lemme set y'all straight on a couple things. I'm not a Democrat, but in this place I'm to the left of Marx, so I feel emboldened to speak for at least some Democrats. Broadly: We don't hate you, we don't think you're evil, we don't think Democrats are perfect and Republicans are villains, we don't seek division, we're not all in lockstep with every stupid little peeve of the far left loonies and we don't blindly support Biden or the party at all costs. We are united by our complete inability to understand how the righteous fock anyone with good morals or good sense (which the majority of Americans possess, at least to some degree) could allow themselves to support and vote for Donald Trump. He is like the living embodiment of everything that is wrong with America. He's a walking, talking example of every single one of the seven deadly sins, but supported by the Christian right. He has zero leadership qualities, but his supporters are convinced he's the best POTUS ever. He has no empathy, morality, or ethics. He cares about nothing other than his own wealth, power, and aggrandizement. But he's somehow built the most fervent, dedicated following I've ever seen in American politics. He's so vile that we elected an ancient nincompoop with no new ideas or charisma instead. And that was BEFORE he got himself justifiably indicted several dozen times. So here you are, ready to elect him again. And when asked to justify why you could possibly think that is a good idea, can't defend it without whataboutisms, deflection, and projection. -

Thing is, ya miserable mope, when one is actually intelligent they don't have to try. It's inherent. That's how we all know you have the IQ (and appeal) of a turnip sandwich. You were the primary poster I was thinking of when I wrote that, of course. The next time you say something insightful, witty, or relevant will be the first. -
Do you have any links that would back up your assertions here? I have seen zero evidence that Democrats have contemplated using the military for purposes of implementing or enforcing political policy. We can find any number of instances of Trump threatening to do it. And he has doubled down on those threats while campaigning.

Dude. I like you and mostly agree with you. But the above statement is bs. Don't stoop to the level of telling other people what they think. Most righties (even most MAGAMOOKS) aren't racists. And Jerry is definitely one of the more level headed conservatives in the GC. Save your disdain for the truly ignorant, nasty bastards around here. There are plenty to choose from. -
I have heard all of the songs above on the radio within the last two years. Most of the ones you listed that I haven't heard in the last 2 years, I've never heard on the radio.

Yep, I'm 47. Agree about their output since Bruce rejoined the band. Brave New World was very good, but didn't quite live up to their 80s output for me. Book of Souls was amazing though, and fit right in with the stuff from their heyday. Senjutsu was also good, but not like BoS. I took a long break from almost all heavy metal from about 2000 until 2015 or so. I was listening to satellite radio mostly and the nu metal stuff wasn't my bag. I got into a lot more indie rock, punk and EDM. Book of Souls brought me back into the fold. Also saw them for the first time on that tour, and again on Legacy of the Beast. They are focking amazing live. I remember a friend of mine telling me how awesome Powerslave was when we were in 5th or 6th grade. I listened to it, but it didn't grab me. I must not have been ready for it. About two years later I picked up a used cassette copy of Live After Death, and the first side of it, from Churchill's speech before Aces High (2 Minutes to Midnight, Trooper, Revelations, Flight of Icarus, Rime, Powerslave) up until Number of the Beast might be the best run of songs I've ever heard on a record. Loved them ever since.

I'd say their debut is my second favorite album. For whatever reason though, Killers is tied with Somewhere in Time as me least favorite of their first seven albums (or 8 if you include Live After Death). Of course they are all masterpieces, so I'm really just splitting hairs.

I know you didn't direct this question to me, but since Maiden is one of my favorite acts, I can't help myself. Seventh Son is my favorite album. Favorite song is super tough, but after much consideration I think it's probably Phantom of the Opera. Or the Clairvoyant. Wait... Flight of Icarus? Rime of the Ancient Mariner? Dammit, I will have to continue considering my consideration.
