I think I've had this conversation with you or @Voltaire in the past, and it also speaks to the link @supermike80shared earlier about the bill in MI. My stance is to treat the word "woke" as a synonym for respect. Respect for those who have made choices about who they are and how they want to be addressed. Respect for their POV, preferences, and individuality. I respect those choices just like I'd hope they respect mine, even if those decisions are not ones we would ever consider making in our own lives. That doesn't mean being okay with pron in schools (though I think people are making much ado about very little on that front), biological males competing against biological females in non-coed sports, those under 18 undergoing surgical sex changes without parental approval, or cross-use of gender specific bathrooms in schools. I'm okay with the MI bill Mike referred to, although it's unfortunate that would need to be codified into law because of a small minority of ignorant bigots. It targets that tiny minority by specifying that the misgendering be intentional and meant to inflict pain on those being misgendered. It's not saying you're going to be punished for accidentally calling someone 'ma'am' instead of 'sir.' My workplace allows employees to use the locker- and restrooms of the gender they identify with. I'm also okay with this, despite it requiring me to walk a fine line between respecting the choices of those that don't identify as their biological gender vs those that are not comfortable with a "man" being in the "women's" locker room. The arguments we have in this place rarely include recognition of nuance when the opportunity for a blanket statement of condemnation or insinuating someone thinks this because they've admitted to thinking that are easier and score more points amongst the like-minded. There aren't many true zealots here, and those that are definitely skew far right. Here, I'm considered a Marxist, when in reality I consider myself a "liberaltarian." Socially liberal with a strong sense of personal agency and freedom, supporting the first and second amendments and a semblance of fiscal responsibility. Common sense gun and abortion laws. Balancing our need for environmental stewardship with the reality that fossil fuels are still needed. These aren't extreme positions IRL except in the mind of deranged fuksticks like the OP, who has no real convictions of his own other than being the most useless troll on this backwater shlthole of the internet.

The J6 committee already showed this to be the case beyond reasonable doubt. Of course the MAGAMOOKS refuse to watch or believe it, but enough of the electorate that's somehow still on the fence will realize the stupidity of voting for him to turn the tide. I hope.

That's the crux of the issue. He did nothing, as the sitting President, while his supporters ransacked the Capitol building. Gross dereliction of duty is the kindest label for it. I prefer treason, but I'm old school that way.

Kudos to @RLLD , a staunch conservative, for starting this thread. I've held for years the opinion that if a Democratic POTUS engaged in the same behavior and business dealings that Trump did, they would have been impeached by the end of their first year in office by a Republican congress. The facts are that Trump profited from his business interests specifically because he was POTUS, and these patrons were trying to gain favor. That is illegal and always has been. If you think Joe Biden profited in the ways he's been accused of, it would still not be as severe a crime, because Biden wasn't in elected office at the time. If you defend Trump against this behavior but are convinced Biden should be impeached for his, you are at best intellectually inconsistent. More likely you're just a blind partisan. I'm with RLLD. Fock em both. We need different candidates and if all it took to make Trump go away is to also make Biden go away, I'd take that deal right now. We'd all be better off.

How do you know they didn't? Hindsight is great and all; I once thought Trump had a chance at being a mediocre president. Hindsight allows me to see the truth, that he is a walking, talking, constitutional crisis. So, while I'm not defending any stance here, might your opinion be a bit disingenuous?
