What disturbs me most about the events of that day, and in my mind is the most damning piece of evidence against Trump, is his silence and inaction after the situation turned violent. How many of us horrible libs on this board have had a problem with the investigation being carried out? We may question the veracity of it, but I don't recall anyone saying it should just be shut down. How many have also said that if you can prove in court, or Congress, that Joe was involved in receiving kickbacks for influence peddling, that we had a problem with holding him accountable? I agree with @RLLDon most of his points, although I'm not as convinced Joe is crooked as he is. If you can prove it, impeach and remove him. We'll support it. This is not hard.

The only thing on this list that is in need of "restoration" is privacy, which the American public willingly gives away on SM. Burning down a restaurant is bad. Seems like they got off light, but we're missing some details. Assaulting police officers while unlawfully attempting to trespass on federal property for the purposes of disrupting the official transfer of power in a democracy is worse. I'm younger than you, Peenie, but still a Gen Xer. For the purpose of this thread, I'm going to differentiate rape and sexual assault. When I was growing up in the 80s and coming of age in the early 90s, rape was rape, but that's about it. Rape was having intercourse with a female against her will. No one was okay with that. No meant no. My friends and I knew and abided by that. Most other stuff was fair game. Sexual harassment and what we would now call variations of sexual assault were rampant, but it was just not acknowledged as such. In the immediate aftermath of metoo, some of my friends and I talked about the things we'd done and seen. It was kind of a reckoning where we acknowledged that some of the shlt we were a part of was borderline behavior, at best. But at the time, it was just part of growing up. I love showing my school age children movies I enjoyed in my youth. Let's just say Sixteen Candles and Animal House won't make the cut.
