There's a great limited series on YouTube that covers the history of the Vikings by decade. Not worth watching if you're not a fan probably, but they explain at great length how truly snakebit that franchise is. 3rd highest winning percentage in the NFL in the SB era, never had more than 2 consecutive losing seasons, plenty of HOF players. Every other team above .500 has won at least one SB, and several that are well under that mark. Tampa Bay stands out as a franchise that's been a dumpster fire for 3/4ths of their existence, yet has 2 trophies. Not even the law of averages works in the Vikings' favor.

You're probably right about White. That was a serious personnel coup by Wolf. Who have they signed since, though? After that run through the mid-late 90s, they've been an average team with HOF QB'ing. In 2010 they made a run based on a defense filled with no-names that played out of their minds for a couple months. I fully admit being biased as a Viking fan, but I'm really looking forward to football karma ravaging this team for a decade or so. Maybe by then I'll have it out of my system. The Vikes winning a title would help me along in that effort, but as a Viking (or any Minnesota pro team featuring players with testes) fan, I'm forced to be an unwilling realist about the vagaries of professional and high level collegiate sports. Someday, dammit, someday!

Thing is, you hear from them all the time. But anything they say gets drowned out in the right wing media noise as "far left." The RW Media CANNOT allow for anything suggested by a Democrat to be anything other then MARXIST PROPAGANDA. It's a pretty cool feedback loop that's been constructed intentionally to keep low information voters pissed off about how America is turning into a dystopian hellhole, while effectively ignoring their own parties' inability to govern or make any sort of positive change. That feedback loop gives us people like @jonmx, who seemingly stand ready to carry out violence against their "enemies." The NYT posted an editorial comment this morning offering a mea culpa for the haphazard and misleading coverage of the Gaza hospital story. Breitbart, Gateway Pundit, et al. would never do such a thing. Why would they? Their "readers" don't demand truth, they demand reinforcement of beliefs.

It's an interesting idea, and I know we're just wasting time discussing it, but that's fine. I still can't figure out where the profit is, especially in rural areas. If you need to build a school that will only service 150 kids K-12, how could that possibly be profitable? I've lived in a couple of these places, and education is already a shambles; what's going to incentivize a huge corporate investment with such little potential ROI?
