L.A. and nationwide ICE raids/protests thread

Funny how opinions on this incident come down to party lines. Here's what I've gathered from reading reports and watching News Nation (shout out to everyone that recommended this network, it's awesome!): The senator was in the building for another briefing, heard Noem was doing a press conference, and decided to go to it. Why he was not wearing his official Congressional pin identifying him as a US Senator is anyone's guess, but the building was secure, so it's not like he could have been some rando off the street. He watched Noem for a bit, then she said something that pissed him off. TBF, he was probably already pissed, being a Latino Senator from CA. He shouted about something, security approached him and began pushing him out; he identified himself but security ultimately got him on the ground and cuffed him. After verifying his identity, he was let go. Padilla acted out of line. He should have been wearing his ID. He should not have attempted to disrupt the press conference. Security did their jobs. He let his emotions seemingly get the better of him. He is mostly at fault. That said, Kristi Noem knows exactly who he is. She easily could have called off security, but chose not to, likely because she didn't want to answer his questions. Noem comes off looking poorly, IMO, but we don't really expect much from her other than to wear a hat and look good in front of the camera for her many staged photo ops. For her to say anything about how Padilla comported himself is absurd, given how she's a complete publicity hoor. The LA mayor called her out yesterday, saying that she served with Noem in Congress and no longer recognized her. Now the holier-than-thou BS turns into an avalanche. Mike Johnson calling for Padilla to be censured. That's focking laughable. Dems using this as a cudgel to claim how authoritarian the admin is, is also laughable. It was bad optics, for sure, but on the Trump scale, this barely registers. Padilla's actions were far less intense than your typical Gym Jordan congressional hearing rant, so Reps claiming he was somehow a potential threat is stupid. Overall, this whole incident was given more attention than it likely deserved. With Israel-Iran heating up, we'll be done talking about this by the weekend.

The libtard part isn't what I was agreeing with.

Sure would be nice to see what happened before the scuffle broke out. Why can't I find anything about that? ETA: looks as though he "aggressively approached Noem without having Senate Security pin on" or somesuch. He ultimately identified himself, but by then he was being forcibly removed.

I get it. My guess is that it won't matter once the people driving the cars into others end up in court. They will be charged, found guilty, and go to jail. Ron DeSantis isn't gonna prevent that.
  5. GOOD! That number does seem kinda low. Unless, of course, and follow me here, the "riots" were never really that big of a problem and could have been handled by LAPD, but certain talking heads and most news outlets are showing as much damage as possible to get views/ clicks. Pre-emptive disclaimer: I do NOT support rioting, looting, or violence for any reason, and am totally good with people engaging in criminal activity being arrested and charged. Just to be clear.

Blocking off roads intentionally during protests should always result in some kind of charges. I think mowing people down with a vehicle may be a bit harsh, though.

Trump does not have a personal beef with the governors of those states, yet. If Cuomo wins, that may change. If rioting breaks out in Minneapolis, he'll do it there, too. Let's face it, marines patrolling in South Boston or Cedar-Riverside doesn't have nearly the same visual impact as it does in LA, the poster city for liberalism, the throne of the entertainment industry, surrounded by all those black and brown folks, taking on that socialist POS Newscum. He's going for bang for the buck (can't blame him) and attacking the largest, bluest bastion of Democratic rule in the country, in the city that he sees as defining the "liberal scourge." Of course, citizens there are helping him immensely by burning and looting and generally being morons, but LAPD had this thing under "control" in their own proud tradition. I'll say this: the police forces in many of these liberal cities have piss-poor histories of being brutal, racist scumbags. What city were you a cop in?
  10. I mean, they may not have the journalistic heft of Breitbart or Zerohedge, but it's a pretty reliable outlet.

I know damn well why the marines weren't sent to Florida, not that it matters. That you support it just reinforces that you're a partisan hack that is fully on board with Trump doing whatever he wants cuz "own the libs!" is the most important policy goal. He won't send Marines into a red state, period.

What platform? I really wanna see this.
  14. Right. Maybe because they aren't needed? What's the difference here? No marines dispatched in blood-red Florida; several hundred marines deployed in sky-blue California. You're making my point for me, so thanks!

You obviously don't pay attention to what others write here, and just go with your own narrative. I've been VERY vocal about how much I loathe the democratic party. They are absolutely NOT my party, and I have no interest in trading security and sanctity (whatever that's supposed to mean) for anything. I also don't want the country "flooded" with illegals, but, like most of your MAGA brethren, you just make stupid assumptions and then ignore presented facts. Every single thing you claim above is false. Do you get it now, or are you going to continue with lies?

Care to comment on Marines being dispatched by POTUS in a state without the governor asking for it for the first time ever? Or just gonna change the subject again?

LOL. Now calling others weaklings is going to raise the vibration? While sorely tempted to return your malice, I won't. Thought I was done putting people on ignore, but nah, it's a good spot for ya until you can understand the demonstrable biased fallacies in your thinking. Congrats on being lumped in with dregs like peefoam/horsemanure/MO.

Your posts are directly contradictory to the bolded. You wanna be centered on love, then call a bunch of people weak and limp-wristed? That's not love, it's hate. Where's the logic in that?

We can debate the NG deployment forever. Whether it was called for in this instance is a subject we will likely never get a real answer about. The biggest issue I have is the involvement of Marines. That step is unprecedented, unnecessary, and an outright provocation. If you think this admin isn't picking a fight, what do you base that opinion on?

    Turns out, ironically, nobody.
  21. Nice dodge, Whataboutadour. MAGA refuses to accept truth: The rioters are not demonstrators, they are criminals and nobody (outside of beltway POS's like Trump) wants there to be violence. Everyone supports arresting and charging those that commit assault, vandalism, or other common crimes associated with protests. By most accounts, LAPD had "isolated" riots under control, and the NG was likely not needed. Even if deploying NG is the right move, the governor should have done it, not POTUS. Assuming Newsom is as big of an ass as you think he is and didn't deploy just because he didn't want to be seen as in agreement with Trump, there is NO valid reason to push Marines into the mix. That is simply Trump being Trump and aggravating an already delicate situation.

This is outlined in the constitution. We've counted "all persons" (well, except for slaves of course) in every census conducted. Not surprised you're ignorant of it. Want it changed? Pass an amendment. Or are you really just a boring, run of the mill bigot? I didn't have you pegged for that, but I've been wrong before. You also didn't answer my last question:
