Dammit, forgot about this one, too. Fock you and your list, @edjr. Make a better one next time.

Yeah, wish I'd known this little tidbit before I tried to drink a dry martini using 3 yr old vermouth! It did indeed go sideways.

I have some suggestions on what you can do with your list, bub.

Be careful about how long that syrup will last once it's been opened. You might find that you want a cocktail in April only to find out the syrup expired in March. This has happened to me with vermouth in the past.

Damn, forgot about that one, and Watchmen. Both were fantastic.

What is your favorite car you have owned?

Oh my Nova went, you fothermucker. I creamed a couple of Mustangs racing with it, probably because only pvssies drove pony cars. Screw you and everybody else with anything bad to say about the mighty Chevrolet Nova! Caveat: back then all those cars were gutless wonders, with V8's that didn't come close 200 hp. We just thought they were fast and powerful since we were young and dumb. And I use the term racing in a very loose sense. I doubt it or any of the people I raced ever broke 85 mph or hit 60 in under 9 seconds. The truck I drive now would completely blow the doors off of all those 70s cars. But you're still a pvssy, mustang boy.

WTF do you have against Novas, man? My second favorite car was my '75 Nova hatchback. Had so much fun in that thing with the backseat down... Favorite was my 95 Jeep Wrangler 4.0 I6. Put over 180k on it and regularly took it on cross country trips that would include off roading. No cruise, no AC, soft top, manual everything. It still runs, I sold it to my aunt who basically uses it as a glorified side by side on her farm in Iowa. Probably has about 240k on it by now. My uncle ordered it from the factory, my grandmother picked the color. Had to keep it in the family.

I made it through about three episodes of Oz before tapping out. Didn't like it. Tried watching Breaking Bad all the way through a second time and only made it through season 2. For whatever reason it wasn't as good the second time. I'd recommend watching Sopranos again, it's been over 25 years since it premiered and you've probably forgotten enough to make it worthwhile again.

I was wrong about the Deep State!

Is actually a Marxist that wants to enact the final scene of Fight Club IRL. Like a terrorist.
  14. Today we're doing a counted cross-stitch design of my own making. It's a very detailed, intricate little piece that says SUPERMIKE80 IS A BIG FAT MEANY! Your liberal sewing assignment is to create your own font for the text! Enjoy the project and your chardonnay, and don't forget to tip the sommelier! He's been struggling since Canada quit buying California wine...

First off, I'll say my experiences are my own, anecdotal, and I won't pretend I've got any researched numbers in front of me. Pay attention to the kids. The ones that were born here or came when very young. They are pretty Americanized and act like dipshits, just like all teenagers. They don't have accents, they don't pray multiple times daily and in many cases the women wearing a hijab are the only way to differentiate them from black kids born in the US, other than most of them haven't adopted the same ways of speaking that many black kids born here and raised on hip hop gangster culture do. The issues of theft and threatening behavior are almost exclusively on the part of the older individuals, many of whom grew up stealing to survive and learning how to kill people at a young age. At some point many of these kids will almost certainly move away from Islam, since like most religions it's a PITA when you're a kid and is just crap your parents make you do. Given time, I think they will assimilate like the Hmongs did.

My truck has a 36 gallon gas tank and a range of 600+ miles. Being able to pee and poop while driving would be awesome and save me a lot of time. Bidet optional.

Well I can't argue with your logic because of course it would always be best to vet the people entering the country. But as you said, we have no way to know. These people are here legally, so much like our own citizens, we're kind of stuck with them, for lack of a better term. So how about we just deal with that reality? While anecdotal, I can tell you that the issues I deal with from an employment perspective are no more pronounced from that group than they are from other nationalities whether American born or not. My opinions on this are shaped by my own experiences and interactions. I work directly with several people from this cohort, and have worked with many others in the past. Some are wonderful, hard working folks. Some are a-holes, hooligans, and thieves. I've hired them, written them up, fired them, praised them, and promoted them. They are not going anywhere, and they are now part of the fabric of the state. When I was growing up in this area, the same vitriol was directed at the Hmong immigrants. They were dog-eating, violent savages that nobody wanted or invited, and words like slant and g**k were heard more often than ni**er. Now they're just Minnesotans.

Veep was maybe the funniest show I've ever seen. I almost included Silicon Valley but the last couple seasons really petered out. But this scene gets me every time: https://youtu.be/zrdq4lcGw80?si=qkyYxmkz4ZyCuC8z Won't let me embed for some reason....

    1. The Wire this used to be my favorite show ever, but when I tried to rewatch it, it fell flat. But for the sake of argument I'll leave it at 1. 2. GoT 3. Six Feet Under best finale ever besides MASH 4. Sopranos 5. Veep I thought Chernobyl and Band of Brothers were way overrated. Deadwood was ok but Swearengen was a fantastic character.

Yes we are. We see a cohort of people that came from a broken, ineffectual nation that learned stealing was the best way to survive. They came here and some of them never unlearned that lesson. But most of them do not steal. They are here to work and raise their families free from the violence and crime that are literally a way of life in their home nations. We can be glad that the fraudsters were caught, can acknowledge that this scandal will probably end Tim Walz's political career and makes the MN DFL look like the foolish cowards that they are, while still being sympathetic to the fact that the vast majority of the Somalians, Ugandans, Sudanese, and Kenyans in MN are decent people that want the same things as those of us that were born here.
  21. Agreed. So is Crash Course in Brain Surgery.
  22. I like the Thin Lizzy version, and the Dubliners one is great if you're drinking on St. Patrick's day and in the mood for traditional Irish music, but I'll definitely take the Metallica version over both. My philosophy with covers is simple: take any halfways decent pop/rock/r&b/traditional song, speed it up and turn it punk, metal, or electronica, and I will enjoy the results. Not a universal truth, but it's played out many times for me. Music is subjective and I accepted many years ago that my tastes are eclectic.
  23. I'll say this about Metallica: they're probably my favorite cover band of all time. The Last Caress/Green Hell cover on Garage Days Re-Revisited got me into the Misfits (and scored me an A in a speech class after some careful editing). Their versions of Stone Cold Crazy, Whiskey In the Jar, Turn The Page, and SFW are arguably better than the originals. I went on a thrash kick recently and re-listened to Kill em All and Ride the Lightning all the way through- those albums were sooo good. The Black Album was a HUGE deal when it came out, my friends and I flocked to the record stores to get it day one and then played the hell out of it. By the time the local top 40 pop station was playing Unforgiven in heavy rotation, I was over it. The album was too commercial, too polished, and too slow.
  24. No. It's personally curated. I'm very happy with how it's turned out, though.
  25. Would you say it'll raise my vibrations?
