Final tallies of casualties for this might be ugly. Some very densely populated areas close to the epicenter. They felt shaking in Bangkok almost 700 miles away.

We are sympatico. Television was never my favorite, but I've just recently gotten into Gang of Four and have been a fan of Wire for a loooong time.

Definitely didn't get overplayed into oblivion like Eye of the Tiger.

Sirius/XM has a channel called Chill that plays this type of stuff. Trance and Deep House I think are the "genres." One of the few channels that everyone in my house is ok listening to. Good background music. I had not heard either of these songs, but have heard some other stuff from Public Service Broadcasting that I liked. I like fast music generally, so EDM is just as deep in my wheelhouse as punk, metal, and hardcore. Hell, even some bluegrass is fast as hell.

Transgender runner blows out competition, he sets season records in girls' races at Oregon high school track meet 🌈
Fnord replied to Maximum Overkill's topic in The Geek Club
That's a whole lotta bullshit to cram into a single post. Well done. You should take the tranny challenge! Show me a post- JUST ONE POST from someone on this forum that specifically states they support biological men playing women's sports. I've never seen it, and even the hardened lefties don't support it. @MDC doesn't support it either. As the father of a daughter, I do not support it. If I did not have a daughter, I wouldn't support it. The vast majority of Americans, including libs, do not support it. Quit lying. -
Good thread idea! Hopefully a politics-free zone where we can talk about something that truly effects our lives- great music. For some reason, the New York Dolls are one of those bands that I should really like, but never quite "got." The Clash are another good example. It's all subjective, right? Since I haven't bothered to figure out how to embed video, I'll just link Titus Andronicus- Dimed Out

No, tranny whisperer. I have yet to see a single post in this or any of the other hundreds of similar threads you've started that actually supports that. Keep skyscreaming though, I'm sure your russian payroll masters are pleased with the sheer volume of your divisive output. -
Which one of these words don't you understand?

Maybe Elon paying voters will be the final straw that gets lawmakers to remove all the private and corporate money from politics! Also, I might have a chance at a 3-way with Margot Robbie and Kate Upton.

LIBERATION DAY: USA and China agree to a 90 day pause on most new tariffs
Fnord replied to The Real timschochet's topic in The Geek Club
Well that sounds great! But so did the Foxconn deal in Wisconsin, until it wasn't. I wonder what sort of gigantic tax breaks and benefits will be offered to some of these companies that will make a really excellent show of investment stateside up until the point they no longer have to. Seems like a giant shell game to me. But I am admittedly biased. -
Well obviously that's a you problem. I have it on good TBay's authority that TBay is the smartest guy here.

Pete Hegseth texted war plans to a reporter by accident
Fnord replied to Ron_Artest's topic in The Geek Club
It wouldn't matter. These charlatans will just lie, deflect, parse words semantically, and downplay. MAGA never seems to question their leaders, and RW media just keeps ginning up fear and anger without holding anyone with an 'R' behind their names to account. Liberal tears and revenge is the primary goal of the admin and they're ok with it. They are also ok with Trump ruling by fiat and completely sidelining congress. But they definitely aren't authoritarians. Nosirreebob, no authoritarian tendencies here! -
Pete Hegseth texted war plans to a reporter by accident
Fnord replied to Ron_Artest's topic in The Geek Club
<--- That's for your last line. I will not defend him not removing himself from the chat; if he did anything wrong, it was that. But he's a reporter. Reporters get stories from sources that shouldn't officially be talking to journalists. This is how the media is supposed to operate: speak truth to power. I'd also retort that blaming the reporter for a gross lapse of OPSEC is a prime example of your desire to defend political players you like. -
Fair enough. I agree that his responses to you are not always reasonable; I would say the same about your responses to him. Which, again, is ironic in a focked up way, since you are both usually respectful toward others. And of course his views are partisan-- show me someone here that isn't. You are, I am, the best and worst of "both sides" are. I'll leave it alone now. I appreciate both your contributions, I just don't like it when mommy and daddy fight PS: Tim, you are clearly the mommy. No offense.

Goldberg was very open about thinking it was a hoax initially. Right up until the time things started exploding. At that point, he realized it was a real chat, with actual high level stakeholders, discussing matters via channels they are expressly forbidden to use under the exact circumstances in which it was used. He's a reporter. He did his job, and did it while protecting the sensitive information. I seem to remember you being one that is not interested in one's "qualities" but simply the efficacy of their work. Which makes your last paragraph seem...... hypocritical. -
Jesus Christ, Tim. I agree with your opinions more than probably anyone else does in this shlthole but you're off your rocker here. There is no way that hot wheels crack wasn't at least partially referencing his handicap. It was a stupid, shltty thing to say, despite Abbot's propensity for being an absolute POS. I know you and EG have some history; whatever, I'll stay out of it. But I completely disagree with your characterization of him. He is clearly conservative but compared to the vast majority of others posting here he is much less knee-jerk, much more reasonable, and much more knowledgeable. The fact that the two of you, two of the more typically respectful posters here (and both posters I like and respect), are in regular pissing matches with each other is wild to me. It is a grotesque irony. ETA: @The Real timschochet @Engorgeous George Wouldn't want @Horsemanure to call me out for talking behind your backs

It's a proven fact that reading peefoam's posts make you dumber and more hateful. Life is too short to read that dipfuck's nonsense consistently. -
Pete Hegseth texted war plans to a reporter by accident
Fnord replied to Ron_Artest's topic in The Geek Club
Initially he did not leak any of the specifics of the plan. He waited to see if it was real, and when it turned out to be, he made public that he was put on the chat. He's a reporter. He was given the story of a lifetime out of thin air by people he disagrees with that should know better than to have included him. He did nothing wrong whatsoever. -
LOL. Maybe, maybe not. But if you are smarter than me, it sure AF doesn't come across in what you type. It's a political thread, FFS. Remember when Michelle Obama wanted to make kids eat healthier in schools and many on the right collectively lost their shlt? I do. Tell me how this is different, and then justify the reactions. Preferably without gross generalizations.

It was pretty funny. I couldn't even decipher a point in his rambling, and I'm usually pretty good at following the stream of consciousness rants of stoners.

Great dad. That took some cojones. Obviously loves his kid. Not sure WTF was up with the guy at the end smoking a blunt though.

Regardless whether you "believe" it's a man-made issue or not is irrelevant. Glaciers are melting, the sea is rising. This admin is gutting environmental protection policy. Both parties get lobbied, but only one of them ever attempts to make positive environmental changes. Do you agree that is a bigger problem for our kids than a few hundred kids that don't understand their gender? Or a dude playing a girl's sport? Let's get some perspective here. -

Not sure what you're going for here. Yes, I would think that would be an important part of the discussion. But the person we are talking about is here lawfully. -

Good point. Now, if you could, ponder what will have a more negative impact on kids; a tiny minority of parents and their children experiencing confusion about gender and sexuality, or complete disregard for environmental preservation that this admin engages in? Toxic air, undrinkable water, coastal cities no longer habitable, pollution standards erased. I sure know which one makes me more anxious as a parent.
