US arrests and Deports Antisemitic Jew Hating Palestinian Student In Columbia University protests against Gaza war
Fnord replied to Maximum Overkill's topic in The Geek Club
I need another level set with the MAGA hive mind. So now it's fine to deport immigrants that are here legally because they dared to exercise their 1A rights? Notebook updated. I could've sworn I saw dozens or even hundreds of posts declaring MAGA loved immigrants as long as they were here legally. So which is it? -
Check 'em out. Funny AF.

Against Me! is an excellent band, and Laura Jane Grace is a super talented musician. That said, seems like she could have chosen a more appropriate song for the occasion. I would assume she was trying to be "edgy." She has suffered plenty from the attitudes of MAGA and "Christian" bigots though, so I'm sure it was also a big raised middle finger to those groups. I can't blame her, but doing so in support of a US Senator seems like poor judgment. I wonder what Bernie's thoughts were about the choice MAGA getting pissy about others exercising their 1A rights again... I can never get enough of the hypocrisy these people engage in. Intellectual honesty and consistency are lost on this bunch.

Elon Musk says the "entire frontline" in Ukraine would collapse if he chose to turn off his Starlink internet 💪 🏆

The last time Maxipad had an idea, the cops, firefighters, plumber, and insurance company all had to be called. I have been unable to verify the claims about animal control and the ACLU. -

He's just fulfilling his mission, comrade Tebok. The duty of the Russian bot is to fill the board with divisive propaganda, over and over, every day. To stamp out good conversation and hinder the free exchange of ideas as much as possible. You really have to give him credit. He's excellent at his job and very dedicated. Can't imagine it pays very well, but he's here every day, plugging away ruthlessly at destroying America. -
Don't fret, Volty. Since your district vote will occur before the continuing resolution budget vote, your pet Republican is probably safe. It'll be after that vote when the shlt truly hits the fan.

Don't fool yourself jonny boy. You have him FAR outdone on hypocritical, judgmental, self-righteous bullshit. Hard to say which of you is more demented. -
LOL. Alan Hale, great American street hustler! "GILLIGAAAAAN!" Redd Foxx shat street cred, he don't need no stinkin pinky ring.

I'm not going to fault Joe for the divisions in this country. The way our media is presently constructed and consumed, there is almost zero chance of a POTUS from either party overcoming those divisions. Probably even less chance of a Democrat doing it. Everything else is fair game. He had some policy wins, but Dems are so inept at messaging that those wins were rarely highlighted. I 100% blame him for not holding to his word of being a 1-term president, his handlers for covering up his mental decline, and the DNC for being utterly useless and incompetent for most of my life. I have no pity for him feeling bad right now. He screwed himself, his party, and every American by putting his own ego ahead of the interests of the country.

Yes! Just don't go after having a breakfast of edible snack cakes from Betty Boop's and topping that off with hash unless you want to see the paintings move as you stare at them. @SaintsInDome2006 the Heineken brewery is also excellent, even if you don't like Heineken. Wish I could remember more about Amsterdam; I was there 25 years ago and spent the majority of the time stoned off my ass. Skipped the Anne Frank house because the line was too long and I wanted to take a nap.

I thought this was going to be a thread about cigarettes. Why are Alan and Redd both wearing pinky rings?

Murderer to be executed by firing squad tomorrow
Fnord replied to The Real timschochet's topic in The Geek Club
Much tougher cleanup. I have to think that would make a helluva mess. Although it would increase the ability to have someone affected by the crime perform the execution. No marksmanship required with a guillotine, and no "accidental" misses. -

Yikes, no thanks. Too much chance your neck doesn't snap and you just suffocate. I knew that was standard so the gunmen never know who really made the kill. But damn, I wouldn't want to even have a 1/3 chance of being the executioner. That's why it would be better to have volunteers that have some skin in the game. Would make squeezing the trigger easier. I would imagine the pool of volunteers are corrections officers though. Also, what happens if the single live bullet is a bit off? Say hits just below or to the side of the heart and the convict doesn't die right away? One more round for each gunman? -

I wonder who is in that pool of volunteers. I tend to think this is kinda barbaric, but I guess if the inmate chooses it and you can find 3 people willing to shoot him, have at it. Would be much better if loved ones of the victim could volunteer to be the executioners. -
Canadians are 'fed up,' says Alberta lawyer leading delegation to Washington for statehood talks

I for one welcome the opportunity to stay where I'm living and no longer be in the northernmost continental state. It would be awesome if that vast wilderness could be accessed without crossing an international border. With that said, I might as well wish to be the next powerball winner. Roughly the same odds. -
Add this one to the list, @TheNewGirl

LIBERATION DAY: USA and China agree to a 90 day pause on most new tariffs
Fnord replied to The Real timschochet's topic in The Geek Club
Not entirely. If POTUS demands cuts, the best way to go about it is probably an impartial, non-partisan third party audit. That requires identifying the vendor, gathering bids and proposals, signing contracts, then giving them whatever amount of time has been agreed upon. I would think 90 days would be absolute minimum for an entity as big as the VA, for instance. This ensures that the bloat and unnecessary redundancy can be rooted out without negatively affecting vital services. DOGE kids (and Elon) don't know what they don't know. They have no gov't experience, no concept of the regulations, little knowledge of the services being provided by many of the departments. And they've gone way too fast for decisions to have been made with any sort of consideration of downstream effects. -
There are people here you can have a conversation with. The insults and name calling suck, but don't be hesitant to use the ignore function. Not seeing seafoam or horsemanure posts helps immensely.

Fnord replied to The Real timschochet's topic in The Geek Club
Well then we wouldn't be able to argue about it. What fun is that? Everyone wants waste, fraud, abuse and bloat eliminated from gov't. I find it VERY hard to believe that the current DOGE team, comprised of a ketamine-addled tech giant with questionable allegiances and his small flock of 20-something coding bros has the wherewithal to determine good cuts vs. bad cuts. The speed at which it's all happening reinforces that assumption, since careful and deliberate cuts take time to investigate and execute. But you are right, it would be much more prudent to wait and see what the actual results are. That brings me back to my first sentence, though. -
Don't get used to that. For a long time we had farm fresh eggs given to us by my FIL. He'd drop off like 7 dozen at a time and we're not huge egg eaters. So they would sit unrefrigerated, which I've heard is a better way to store them for an extended period. I've opened a dozen, tested them all, and only kept one or 2. But nobody in the house has gotten sick yet, so I assume this is a good tactic.
-
Fill a good size bowl with water. Gently place the eggs in it. If they rise to the top, throw them out. If they sink, they're still good.
-
Nobody here would ever admit they couldn't afford eggs. I mean, the vast majority of us are independently wealthy, of course. And then there's the niggling fact that if one were to share that they were struggling financially there's a host of dooshbags that would bring it up constantly. Witness people being made fun of for having cancer, being overweight, or having an alcoholic loved one. I don't pay a lot of attention to the cost of food I'm buying, I have 2 kids that are picky AF, so I buy what they'll eat, regardless of cost. But yeah, eggs at $8+/dozen is wild.
