White Josh Allen wins MVP over Black Lamar Jackson in the most raccisss NFL MVP vote ever
Fnord replied to edjr's topic in The Geek Club
There's definitely an argument to be made for Saquon, but the Eagles have arguably the best roster in football. That should be considered. The last time a RB won MVP, Adrian Peterson in 2012, he WAS the offense. Barkley has a better QB, line, receivers, and defense than AP did. -

Voters know which teams are good and going to the playoffs and which don't. Non-playoff teams haven't produced a NFL MVP since... I dunno. Too lazy to research, but a long damn time. -
LOL. I hate light beer and don't drink much beer generally, but Coors Light is easily my choice for "least wretched" light beer. You and I probably shouldn't go out for drinks together. Unless you like whiskey...
-
I'm going to split hairs on this. You are correct generally in that none of them taste good. But some definitely taste worse than others. Bud Light, for instance, is maybe the nastiest beer I've ever had. I'd rather drink a 40 of stanky malt liquor than a can of Bud Light.

Not technically, no. But that doesn't exactly translate to how the voting goes. -

Allen arguably has less weaponry at his disposal than Burrow and went to AFCCG. -
DEI beaver is still beaver.

Awesome to see Jared Allen going in. HOF waaaaaay overvalues Super Bowl wins in their criteria. Take those away and Eli, Aikman, and Namath have zero chance.

So you are okay with this even though potentially: -Those doing it do not have the legal right. -Only agencies not "aligned" with POTUS' agenda being hamstrung or shut down. -It's being done by unelected, unappointed, unvetted employees of an unelected, unappointed billionaire running an unofficial agency, granted powers by fiat from POTUS that he ultimately has not been granted constitutionally. -there are extreme unintended consequences including screwing nonpartisan people in healthcare, disease treatment research and development, humanitarian aid and outreach, etc. -Only targets "small players" in gov't expenditures, not the "big" ones, like DOD. -Is a thinly veiled way to save money only to support a giant tax break for the richest Americans. Nobody has a problem with identifying and ending fraud and abuse. The people doing it do not have the legal authority. This is vigilante politics. Are you also claiming that if Biden had George Soros do the same thing you would be fine with it?

Bondi instructs DOJ to criminally investigate companies for DEI
Fnord replied to Mike Honcho's topic in The Geek Club
I will try this one more time. I cannot speak for employers other than the ones I have had. We have a robust DEI program that expands the hiring pool by recruiting minorities to apply for jobs. This gives us more people from which to choose the best hire. If my HR department has 20 applicants to fill a position instead of 10, that's a win. More potentially qualified candidates from which to choose. If Trump declares DEI initiatives prosecution-worthy and withholds federal money from companies practicing it, my employer stands to be in big trouble. For doing the right thing; giving underserved minorities a chance to compete on an even playing field. They may not get hired, since there are NO QUOTAS, but at least they have a shot. -
Nice, I didn't know anyone other than me and Drizzay were MN guys posting here. SKOL!

Not to derail such a serious thread, but this is valid. That forest is what separates the girls from the women. I'm a man and I like women. Ya gotta keep some fuzz down there at least.
-
Are you a MN guy?
-
We should do more music threads and keep @Hardcore troubadour segregated to them exclusively. He's much more likable when the subject is music.
-
All too focking well. 50 consecutive postseason appearances across 4 MN pro sports leagues without a title. 123 cumulative seasons.
-
Nope. This does a decent job of nutshelling what's going on. I.E. BS shenanigans by both parties.
-
Wow. Below the belt. Uncalled for. I'ma start calling you Egregious George after that comment. Fun (or pathetic) fact: in the Super Bowl era, the Vikes have never had more than 2 consecutive losing seasons. Of 32 NFL teams, they are 9th all time in winning percentage but are the only team in the top half of the league in that metric to have never won a SB. The worst team in overall winning %? Tampa Bay, winners of 2 Super bowls. Life ain't fair, especially for MN sports fans.
-
I am shocked! Shocked! That you are uninformed about what is actually going on. We all know you didn't read that or anything else. Basically both parties in MN are acting like insolent children that need to be taken out back and whipped vigorously.
-
Well, you just retaliated by throwing out the bat signal to the "gloryhole" crowd. Even steven. You can talk shlt about me, my state, my politics... but watch what you say about my Vikings.

I voted for Jesse Ventura. I'd do it again. He was an excellent governor and had a lot of great ideas that he could never push through as an independent. I met him a couple of times, he seemed very genuine. He would have been a much better and more trustworthy disruptor than our current "leader." Funny you mention Al Franken, since he was ousted over a "joke" photo by his own party, as opposed to certain others for whom their party rolled over when actual criminality came to light.

Chelsea Clinton got $84 Million from USAID?!?!

Only if the Trump/Bondi DOJ prosecuted. I'm not making the claims @TrailGuy is about stolen data as I have not seen that anywhere but in his posts, but there is zero chance that if Musk is up to something nefarious he will see any sort of consequences from the current regime. -
I am not a huge Clash fan, though I like them more as I get older. Bolded is probably my favorite. Amazing how many people have no idea that the Clash provided the sample for Paper Planes by M.I.A.

This was in play long before Biden was elected. You're looking for gotcha's that don't exist. These initiatives can {gasp!} exist without 'alienating other races.' Talk about partisan views. You can't even build a decent strawman. Thanks for the good faith conversation, though! -
Beaver is my favorite delicacy. If I eat it, and they don't know about it, no harm, no foul. For the record: Tim Walz is a decent governor (mostly), the MN democratic party is a pathetic joke, and Amy Klobuchar would make a fine president. This is blasphemous and you need to seek redemption for your eternal soul. @weepaws
