I'm not against a little short term pain for long term gain. If Trump is serious about getting spending under control, good for him, it's long overdue. There is a lot of fraud and waste. But these programs also help a lot of people that otherwise would not get it. Those are the people being hurt by this. You wanna target waste? Start at the focking pentagon.

Nonprofit clinics will go under quickly if this continues. Many of them serve Americans in remote areas. i.e. Republican voters. Early childhood education programs and federal health researchers being affected. Chaos and confusion. The problem is not necessarily the (legal) steps Trump has taken, it's the complete lack of planning being exemplified. Seems like there was little or no thought to the downstream effects, which is not really a quality I prefer to see in leadership. Most of us would be fired from our jobs if we pulled a stunt even remotely close to this.

Interesting piece. First off, the interviewer looked like he was a refugee from a boy band, and had about that same amount of gravitas. He came off as a vapid little tvvat. But I'm nitpicking. Totally agree that there are elements of the fascist playbook present in every major political party. Agree that the term fascist is used too much, and incorrectly in many cases. Authoritarianism is the term we should be using; as Doyle said fascism is just authoritarianism writ large. Plus, fascist is a lot easier to type. It's kind of become a catch-all; but that's getting bogged down in semantics. Seizing on the context and rigid definition of the term is just another way to avoid grappling with one's own belief system and the actions fellow believers (and possibly oneself) are willing to take to advance it. I will challenge you to understand that these are historical references to actual events with earth-shattering consequences. They may be "leftist talking points" but that does not mean they aren't stone cold fact. As you would say, it's "indisputable." The parallels are extremely inconvenient for MAGA. Which, IMO, is why no one here wants to debate them. Much easier to impugn those of us that disagree with your politics than face truths that may inspire you to reevaluate beliefs.
