I can make a shot from 500 yards. Expert snipers can shoot beyond 1000 yards. Some have confirmed kills out at 1800 meteres. I have heard of even farther. There are reports of shots into the upper 2000 meters to the mid 3000 meters. Currently I am sighted in at 400 yards as antelope season is just around the corner. (3 days away in Wyoming).

There are many who act as if the cops should be pulling a trailer with a tiny courtroom and a judge inside. They want to litigate matters right out there on the sireet, and with an angry demeanor at that. Unfortunately that is not how it works. Their chance is coming, but everything in due course. That is why we train cops to stand by the car's door post, with their body armor facing the door, and to watch for movement and to be prepared to engage or retreat. Were this to be your scenario the driver likely would have already grabbed his gun and deployed it immediately, before any discussion. Yes there are dangers in policing. I submit those dangers are increased by officers with poor communication skills and no patience. Clear, Firm, Polite while authoritative, and always cautious.
