Best Interstate highways in the nation. Well maintained rest areas. Rolling green hills, some decent bluffs along the Mississippi, a few nice lakes. Iowa is all right by me. Perhaps folks are thinking about Nebraska.

So you are banking on time being kind to an 81 year old with signs or progressive dementia? Hope is not a plan. Biden is, and has been, a generic Democrat. There is nothing special or compelling about him over other Democrats. Further, Biden comes with baggage, his son, congressional investigations, the Hur report. Since what Biden represents is an opportunity for Democrats to oppose Trump so too would any other Democrat provide that same opportunity. Time to tap another generic Democrat in. One without age and dementia and baggage. Maybe Whitmer who is female, from a key swing state, and is strong on abortion, the Democrats only strong issue. As she does not have border baggage it seems she may be strong. -

I'm old enough to remember why Silicon Valley got its name, and it was not for the high percentage of chicks with breast implants but for the computer chips which were once manufactered there. U.S. regulations and multinationals with no national allegiance made it profitable to move the industry. That was tremendously short-sighted. -

So, its three in the morning and Bifden is jolted awake. The Chinese are bombing Taiwan and the Taiwanese have bombed and destroyued the Three Georges Dam. Russian and Iran have both gone to full readiness stage and among other things Putin has started a new initiative in the Ukraine and the Russian sub fleet has all put to sea. The Indian Prime Minister and the British P.M. are on the hotlines and the Joint Chiefs need to know which of the 7 contingency plans previously discussed should be implemented immediately. You trust Biden to pick the plan, immediately and to determine whether he ought to call the Taiwanese, the Chinese, or take which of the two holding hotline calls, and in which order? I do not. Oh, and Biden does not have a life line to call Obama as he is off partying someplace with persons I will never meet. Now I don't trust Trump with this senario either. -
Biden is no longer fit to be president. Last night’s debate exposed the lies we’ve been told.

Maybe Biden will start reverse aging and so, in five or ten years be mentally and physically capable of being a plagarizing Senator from Delaware. The thought, howev er, that he is a qualified candidate for Presdient is absurd. Frankly his inner circle should all be prosecuted for treason for thier ongoing conspiracy to violate the 25th amendment. Many took oaths to protect adn defend the Constitution yet they conpire daily to hide his infirmitiy. Just who is our Presideint now, in actuality? Clearly there has been a silent coup, real insurrection. -

My memory fades as I get old, but I believe I accepted your words in a post as payment in full, meaning our bet was settled leaving nothing left to settle now or in the future. When I said you had paid in full I meant it. You have no ongoing obligations to me in my eyes. -

Depending upon the jurisdiction it does indeed fall within the definition of kidnapping and or false imprisonment. -

You have a right to speak. You do not have a right to force others to listen by holding otherrs captive nor to interfer with and interrupt the speech of others. It's pretty simple really. -
Most cities and States except gratuities of de minimus value from being violations, but that is usually under $100 in vlaue or even undr $50. $13,000 seems more than a polite thank you for your service. To me it seems like thank you for violating your oath to server the people and instead working to enrich the payor. Still, the ruling may be technically correct if not correct in practice. It does not particularly concern me as itis a roadmap on how to write up proper legislation in the area. Legislation which has been figured out by many, many municipalities and states which all foresaw this technical difficulty and avoided it.

To the extent that historical town squares contemplated by our fore fathers as gathering places for the free exchange of ideas were often expansions in roadways or junctions of two or more roadways an argument could be made. The argument fails when blocking traffic with a purpose as participating in the public forums of old did not mean h9lding travelers hostage. RLLD will probably arrive at these conclusions on his own. -

Engorgeous George replied to seafoam1's topic in The Geek Club
I don't think RLLD needs it explained to him. I think he was merely working the matter through from a perspective of protecting speech. I'm O.K. with anybody taking their time to come to a conclusion. I suspect he will come to the same conclusion as have I given some time to cogitate on the matter. -

Because while town squares may be public forums roadways are not. If we allow this to continue they may become so through our tolerance and inaction. Nobody is trying to stop them from gathering along roads, just not in them.
