The Trump campaign got this wrong and was accomodated by the Alabama legislature just recently. -
States leaving Biden off the ballot
Engorgeous George replied to Ron_Artest's topic in The Geek Club
I am unfamiliar with Alabam's legislative calendar. My state has a limited calendar ending thier legislative session in early May. The Governor would have to call the legislature back into special session to pass a law allowing the Secretary of State to extend an election deadline. Even then there would be complications as the printer has a contract and that contract has performance dates written into it. Changing those perform by dates would likely involve greater compensation to the printer. It might also involve elimination of a proofreading step meaning millions of mail in ballots could go out with typographical errors. This is all just inside baseball as they say. Accomodations will be reached. Cooler heads will prevail. -

These laws were promulgated when the time for printing and returning ballots to the state from the bonded printer took a substantial bit of lead time. This was a matter of practiclity and impossibility. It was not a political football when promulgated it simply acknowledged the limitations of printing so many items at that time. Campaigns understood this once upon a time and this was a consideration when setting nominating conventions. No more, apparently. -

It is unclear to me if the Secretary of State has that power absent legislative approval. When this was done forTrump I believe there was one-time legislative approval. Ideally the legislature gets us out of this but the Biden Campaign needs to be subjected to a bit of opprobrium for not being aware of this or not addressing this much sooner. I get scheduling a convention has a lot of moving parts but the hubris in missing this or ignoring this is a bit staggering even if the Republicans did it first. You have to learn from the mistakes of others, not strive to repeat them almost immediately. -
Inflation up Gas up Market down Of course that is today. Who knows what tomorrow will bring? I am glad I am not paying California prices for gas. It's still below $3 where I live.

A far more apt depiction of the moon blotting out the sun than the explanation by Shirley Jackson Lee. I think we can all understand the analogy of the moon teabagging the sun's face. -
I never realized the sexual magnetism of Joe Biden, but here is a large group of men and women, mostly men from the sound of it, who all want to have intercourse with Joe Biden. Learn something new every day.

No. I would not trust her to pick up after my dog, more less to be President. -

AZ Brings Back 160 Year Old Abortion Ban

I rarely agree with Tim, but in this instance I do. This will galvanize the left. Those pushing these bans are not interested in the Republican party prevailing in the fall. They are single issue voters who will cut off their nose to spite their face. They have waited too long for this opportunity to hold their water now. They can't look down the road and see that any victory they get right now will be undone after the next election. The question is will Biden do something equally as noteworthy to piss off his base to balance this out. He well may as he is dumber than dirt, but between this and buying votes with student loan debt reassignment away from those students he may well get some momentum going which could only be stopped by a terrorist attack by folks who came in through the open border. Four more years of either Biden or Trump ought to have this country ready for some real revolutionary changes. Sad that we have come to a place where our option is going to be between Tweedle Dee and Tweedle Dumb. -
Morgan Wallen arrested for throwing chair off of a roof of a bar.

Never heard of him. Seems like felony reckless endangerment to me. Jackass could have killed or maimed someone. Lock him up for a few years, at least. Prohibit him from ever drinking again upon release by having his parole contingent upon no alcohol consumption or even physical possession of alcohol or its straight back to the gray bar hotel.. Who knows, if he is a country star, as I surmize, he might even be able to write a few prison ballads to help revive his career when he gets out. -
Exclusive invitation to join Trump's Advisory Board
Engorgeous George posted a topic in The Geek Club
I just got a text. It is my exclusive invitation to join Trump's Advisory Board. All I need do to accept is to send him money and to answer a few questions. They are yes/no questions where the "yes" answer is denominated "yes MAGA" There are different levels of Advisor. They recommend i send $47.00 if I think Trump is (not was, but is) the Greatest President of All Time. This is a bit more than the required administrative fee of $20.24 but it is an option open to me. They also allow they would accept even more money if i am willing to send a greater sum. This is pretty heady stuff, an exclusive invitation and all to be a Presidential advosor to a man who is not President but I think I am going to pass. The thing is I don't want to be impolite. Perhaps I can RSVP my regrets but can include a McDonald's gift card along with my rejection of this oh so exclusive invitation. That way he can eat away his disappointment. I welcome input on other ideas to express my regrets. -

Forced medication for the health of the public body as a whole. How is that different than forced sterilization of those judged inferior for the benefit of the population as a whole. I believe there is a threshold here and that threshold is where force becomes involved. Why not force vacinations on migrants? I might go so far as to sanction incentivized or coerced through withholding emmolients, but forced, nope. Now this may be what you meant, but it is not what you said, you said forced How do we know the government has objective truth and that disseminating that is more important than free speech, the very constitutional function meant to test thought through considered public evaluation? I agree it is problematic now where idots can speak and have it widely broadcast through the power of social meida, but to me that is not an argument for restricting speech, It is an argument for meeting that speech with considered speech. -
