At what age do you plan to retire/have already retired?
Engorgeous George replied to Pimpadeaux's topic in The Geek Club
I had a bit of money squirreled away to cover me until I reach my presumptive social security full retirement age. I am not yet tapping into the principle i mentioned. It has been good to see the Bidenflation storm pass, a bit and to see the markets recover and even grow. -

I have paid for the care of my wife's grand mother and her mother. Also my mother and a sibling. Last year my mom passed. Her care cost me $120,000 her last year. The bills for the others were less but substantial at the time. I have a fear or respect for the dangers of healthcare bills. I have pretty good insurance but healthcare can eat savings in a big hurry. -

Good question. Food, gas utilities. Doesn't seem it should be too much but it always is. My wife likes to spend on decorating. Seems things like sofas and dining sets need to be changed when they are out of style, not when they are worn out. Also I am told we may have to fund a dance studio for my youngest. In the end there will be enough money for my life expectancy. Whether there is enough for my wife depends on her spending habits. Frankly we should easily be able to get 175,000 every year from the money i have plus social security. it ought to be enough but inflation is the killer. The value of that money will be halved ina dozen years or so, and then again in another dozen years or so. When do we start eating the principal instead of harvesting the interest, who can say? -

Retired last April at 64. No mortgage, no debt, 3.5 million in savings. I have my doubts whether it will be enough. It will last if we have good health. If one or both end up in asssisted care it may not last. -

That damn 10 pin. I've made it wobble, I've made it spin, I've knock it to the side wall and had it bounce back into place, I've even slid it over so it sits in the spot of the 9 pin or the 6 pin. Sometimes I think it has a gyroscope to keep it upright. Regardless it makes a great knockout sound when you send it spinning across the lane and out beyond the reach of the sweep. I love that perfect sound too when you blow all the pins right into the trough leaving nothing for the sweep.

Denver cutting some city employees’ hours down to zero in order to support migrants
Engorgeous George replied to seafoam1's topic in The Geek Club
Curious. For generations summer rec programs hae been touted as a way of combating youth violence and gang recruitment. With fewer programs for native youth and with illegal Bigrants idle with nothing to do will Denver experience a marked jump in juvenile crime this summer? Will Denver record an increase in crime or will a lack of Officers to take reports due to budget cuts reflect a reduction in crime even while the City burns? -

You're leaving here in an ambulance or you're going to a hospital in an ambulance makes sense as a threat as that is how ambulances work, but they generally (Godfather movie and Yellowstone series excepted) do not take you home. As for pronouns, the politically correct Inquisitors would have us believe that one's pronouns belong to themselves alone. That has never been true. Pronouns belong to all of us collectively. You do not have a right to control my language, my perceptions. Get over it. Whether I choose to share your delusion is up to me and threats of some unknown trans violence cannot and will not change that. If a person believes they tend towards one of the two gender dichotomies different from their sex that's fine, I don't care. If you want to be a feminine male go for it. You will never be a woman, but go on and be your idea of feminine. Just know that your affectations of your ideas are often insulting and degrding sterotypes of the actual feminine . Those that do so are a mockery of the real thing. -

I can still curl more in one arm than my wife weighs. That day is coming to a close, but I can still do it. I can do reps on the bench at three times her weight but would fail at four times. She's tiny and I am a beefer, a big ole hoss. -

Jailing for civil contempt is highly frowned upon in civil matters. In some jurisdictions it is not authorized. I think the judge was too quick to threaten contempt and he was emasculated by not then following through. Contempt is a power to be wielded sparingly and never an idle threat. Another clown judge. He should have set the terms, in no uncertain terms knowing trump's propensities and should have fined him substantially each time he violated any reasonable orders. He should not have restricted Trump's ability to campaign. he should not hav e acted like trump was polluting a jury pool since there was none. he did not think the matter through before he took steps so as to appear strong to the press. -

That is wholly dependant upon this judge. His unbelievable inability to control Ms. Willis when she was on the stand letting her say and do anything other than respond to the questions asked gives me great pause. In my mind he is among the worst judges i have ever seen. I have clerked for two judges, one on a state court of appeals. I have practiced in municipal courts, state courts and federal courts. I have practiced in capital cases and in civil court on constitutional matters. I have seen all kinds, but this judge is a new breed. Maybe he gave great deference so there would be no appeal when he slams Ms. Fani and her perspiring lover, maybe he is in the tank for her because he has an election coming up in a area where excoriating a popular black D.A. would be career suicide. I just can't say. Were I the judge I would note the clear obfuscation and mendacity I witnessed. I would come to the conclusion that the testimony not be taken literally but with me determining the obvious lies establish the truth those lies were attempting to obscure. -

She was unable to get to the heart of the matter. had she taken the tack I suggested, questioning Bradley about the potential conflict it would present for him to have his partner boning this woman when she was a judge andor the D.A. she would have made fast headway. No law practice can have that occuring without doing impermissable conflict searches related thereto on each case the handle, whether new or existing. This is a big deal for a law practice. A very big deal. I challenge any lawyer to say otherwise. As seems to be the now well established practice Trump's legal team is less than minimally competent, but they do have prominent breasts. -
