What should we do about the drone attack in Jordan?
Engorgeous George replied to The Real timschochet's topic in The Geek Club
The world takes advantage of the fact that we have damn few pragmatists left among us. They know we will not make hard pragmatic choices on the border, on defense, on trade security and protection of intellectual property. The world shiits on us and a nation of tansgendered furries with bleeding hearts wonders why they don't love us and continues to believe that if we just continue to turn the other cheek they will learn to love us. I've got news for you, we are not turning the other cheek we are spreading our butt cheeks with predictable results. -

Fights where each side uses exactly equal force go on indefinitely. There is no winner, no resolution. There is ongoing damages extending into an infinite future. Fights where there is an overwhelming, disproportionate response are over immediately, saving countless lives in the long run. Clarity of intent and ability actually benefits the side who gets their ass kicked as they don't mistake matters in the future. I say give the Iranians the gift of clarity. They will never see things from our point of view no matter how forebearing we are, but they will see things from a pragmatic point of view when we etch one into their collective societal imaginations. -
Nope. The Deacon Jones move was outlawed more than a decade before that. That rule cahnge occured in 1977.

At the 1:08 mark. Reggie is going to get a Super Bowl sack here. To me the amazing part of the video is to look at the right of the frame and realize that three linemen are working against Gilbert Brown and he is driving all three back creating the sack for Reggie. #40: Reggie White Super Bowl XXXI Highlights | Top 50 Super Bowl Performances (youtube.com)

Donald Trump Nominated for Nobel Peace Prize Again
Engorgeous George replied to seafoam1's topic in The Geek Club
This thread made me wonder whether being nominated is itself a great honor. I wondered whether the process was arduous. Turns out there are thousands of folks qualified to make nominations and little else, other than submitting the name is required. It seems to me a nomination means very little. Over 300 folks were nominated this year. Qualified nominators A nomination for the Nobel Peace Prize is only considered valid if submitted by a person who meets certain criteria. According to the statutes of the Nobel Foundation, a nomination for the Nobel Peace Prize is considered valid if it is submitted by a person who falls within one of the following categories, a personal application for an award will not be considered: Members of national assemblies and national governments (cabinet members/ministers) of sovereign states as well as current heads of state Members of The International Court of Justice in The Hague and The Permanent Court of Arbitration in The Hague Members of l’Institut de Droit International Members of the International Board of the Women’s International League for Peace and Freedom University professors, professors emeriti and associate professors of history, social sciences, law, philosophy, theology, and religion; university rectors and university directors (or their equivalents); directors of peace research institutes and foreign policy institutes Persons who have been awarded the Nobel Peace Prize Members of the main board of directors or its equivalent of organizations that have been awarded the Nobel Peace Prize Current and former members of the Norwegian Nobel Committee (proposals by current members of the Committee to be submitted no later than at the first meeting of the Committee after 1 February) Former advisers to the Norwegian Nobel Committee Unless otherwise stated the term ‘members’ shall be understood as current (sitting) members. -
LeftTard going to the slammer for 5 years for stealing Trump’s income taxes

Given the apparent motivation was political I find it strange he plead guilty rather than having a trial where he could get more attention, perhaps, for his views. -

I put little stock in having an airport or an aircraft carrier named for a politician. -
Very serious grown up activity. Rusty edition.

With all of that weight on one should probably also wear a personal flotation device in case they fall in the water or the river starts rising unxpectedly. There is no way to swim with all thnat weight. -

We have waited 90 years for medieval people to join the modern age. Benevelently we developed their resources and then allowed them to control what they themselves could never have developed. Rather that using extraordianry wealth to raise up thier own people and the world as a whole they, like children, decided to drive solid gold Rolls Royces and to make it snow in the desert. They have proven to be chimps with guns. They are not joining this age of man, they are reverting. Time to say to hell with the carrot, time to show them the stick. Let them know the size of that stick is beyond their imaginings. -

Where have I seen this before? Oh, that's right, in your response to why we will never get illegals under control, the problem is just too big, we will never catch them all or even make a dent. Sad. I wonder if you can put your finger on the date when Americans stopped tackling big challenges? WWI, the Panama Canal, WWII, the space race? When was it we turned from a can do nation to a bunch of defeatists? I suggest it was a process. We became concerned with whether those who will never like us, liked us. We stopped doing what was necessary and started acting to be viewed as moral in the eyes of the immmoral. You like this because it is all about virtue signaling rather than getting things done. Robert Borks book Slouching Towards Gommorah was a bit of a mess, but the basic premise summed up in the title sums you up nicely. -

Well his dodging the sack before his first touchdown throw was quite a memorable paly. he managed to dodge another three sacks the same way before they finally got him. He had half a dozen inpired runs. His pass to himself was fun. OOn the other hand his lack of pocket awareness caught up to him. He was wholly unaware the strip sack was coming. He has no time sense in the pocket. I was also fascinated to see the lmmited use of Beckham and Andrews. I thought both would have greater involvement. Edwards seemed to run with authority the time or two he got the ball. Seems they could have used that to try to set up some play action game.

Love that taunt. It was a few seconds developing. It was clear he should have stopped, but he was just too stupid to stop. He begged for that penalty.

I don't know. There is always one in the crowd with really disturbing propensities.

I don't want Andy's ass anywhere in the picture. Perhaps you mean 'instead of' rather than 'over'. More disturbingly, perhaps you don't!

I know. I just have a few 49er scars, starting with Rice's fumble and culminating in the last half decade. No big deal. As a general rule I have liked them since back in the days of John Brody. The recent ownage has got me sensitive. -

Engorgeous George replied to The Real timschochet's topic in The Geek Club
Count up the number of attacks. I think it is above 120 now in the past few months. Agree to an eye for an eye as to number but announce massive retribution as our policy as to responses in kind. If they launch one missle we respond to that incident with 20 missles. One drone we send in an air wing. We don't initiate, we respond. Where we initiate is we declare that the costs of our responses will be taken from them. We will interdict their oil until they pay us first. We will also tell them that American lives are worth 10 billion dollars and wounds to americans are worth 100 million. Those debts too will have to be paid before any interdiction is lifted. Tell them they are welcome to enter the community of nations but not on their terms. -

A bit of salt there for this Packer fan's wounds. I hope your team is fully helathy and gives us all a representative performance in the big game. When the 49ers are hitting on all cylinders they are pretty impressive. -

Getting our house in order, if it can even be done at this time, entails Congress submitting a budget well ahead of time, a budget which has natural disaster contingency funds and which pays down .5% of the National debt. We need a balanced budget responsibly submitted in time to examine its priorities. We then need a line item veto subject to override by 55% vote of congress. The line item veto will not be that essential as the submitted budget would already be balanced but given the accounting of the balance will be contentious and with partisan accusations the line item is still necessary. We need waste accounting. When funds go unaccounted for that should be a felony with the head of the Department culpable.
