Been a half century since I read Tolkien. I don't recall if it was in the Lord of the Rings or the Silmarillion but there were extensive descriptions of the various races and peoples and the the author had a specific vision as to Aragorn and his sires. Could he have been seen as otherwise, yes, but he was not. Do I really care how he is concieved now, no. Skin color has nothing to do with his character and it is his character which makes Aragorn who he is.

Well I am happy for you that your daughters and their friends chose to spend time with you. Just struck me as highly unusual to the point of incredulity that twentysomethings would choose to go to a Disney movie with their Pops, but who am I to say? Maybe they were nostalgic for their youth and maybe you all bonded over the original and they wanted to see the remake. Disney has certainly cashed in on that desire recently with remakes of the Lion King, Mulan, and the new Mary Poppins not to mention their Broadway shows. I took my daughter to Disney world more than once as a little girl. We saw all the Disney movies for a time. We saw Lion King on Broadway and the Little Mermaid off Broadway (it sucked). My daughter danced as Simba. She put Disney away once she became an adolescent. She would now have no interest in going to this with me. We do other things. My incredulity may well say more about me than it does about you. Or I may think you are a liar making this up to try to prove some point

I have noticed a marked uptick in Bud pushing Busch light commercials and in Bud pushing general Bud commercials where they tout their communicty involvement with veterans. I had not seen a Busch light commerecial in years. I presume this is by way of damage control. Of course it may be simply me noticing what had become white noise as i now pay attention due to current events. Maybe there is no uptick at all.

Tomorrow will be kabobs. Beef, Chicken, and Shrimp and Scallops. Will also do some skewers with pineapple and banana. Plantains hold up better, but my daughter prefers bananas. A bit of cognac, some brown sugar, and just a hint of cinamon.(I don't put them on the grill directly. I put them on foil.) The mushrooms for the kabobs are soaking in sherry right now. I hate peeling the broiler onions taht go on the skewers. I found some perfectly firm cherry tomatos for the skewers Those can get sloppy if not firm at the start. Planing on asperagas wrapped in bacon and covered with a teriyaki glaze and some wild rice
