That comports with my admittedly uneducated impression of the recruitment process. -
To my knowledge you are correct, none of the options you have listed as "facilitation" have occured.

O grow old and can potentially get forgetful or confused, though not nearly as much as I pretend.

That sounds discouraging. I better get on it.

I just looked. My passport is expired. Will have to renew it. I wonder whether that is still handled by the post office. I will have to look it up.
-
I had to laugh comparing my most recent DMV experience with mine 10 years ago. Then I went in the day after my birthday. My license was expired by one day. They said they could not use my expired license as proof of my identity to issue the new one nor would they take my Bar card, my credit cards, my District Attorney's I.D. and badge. They insisted I go and come back with a bill with my address on it and my name. This last time they just grabbed my expired driver's license adn asked me if I wanted to cahnge anything before issuing me a temporary one. they then took my picture and sent me my secure document, my new license through the mail which is fairly unsecure.

I had to renew mine in Colorado, in February. I forget what I had to bring according to their website, maybe two forms of verifying I.D. When I got there with my documentation in hand the State employee did not even ask for it. He just verbally asked if my address had cahnged and asked if I wanted to cahnge anything else. I reduced my height as I am in my shrinkage years, my weight too, and changed my hair color to grey. (it's actually a beautiful snow white.)

I heard Trump is considering this. I find it comical. It was built with poor quality concrete. It has been closed and rusting for 60 years after being occuopied by AIM and literally bombed to end that occupation. It is now a federal park and a tourist attraction. It is unfit as a prison and the lawsuits of turning the park into a current prison would be horrendous. To make it a going prison concern agqain would mean total demolition down to the bedrock and construction of a brand new facility. I don't see that happening. maybe trump should look to Catalina. More space for a bigger facility. Or maybe one or several of the Aleutian islands. Imagine trying to escape into those seas.

I seem to recall that McQueen was as disgusted with Hoffman's acting method as was Olivier in Marathon Man. -

I wore this frock coat in Washington, before the war. We wore them because we belonged to the five civilized tribes. We dressed ourselves up like Abraham Lincoln. We only got to see the Secretary of the Interior, and he said: "Boy! You boys sure look civilized.!" He congratulated us and gave us medals for looking so civilized. We told him about how our land had been stolen and our people were dying. When we finished he shook our hands and said, "endeavor to persevere!" They stood us in a line: John Jumper, Chili McIntosh, Buffalo Hump, Jim Buckmark, and me — I am Lone Watie. They took our pictures. And the newspapers said, "Indians vow to endeavor to persevere." We thought about it for a long time, "Endeavor to persevere." And when we had thought about it long enough, we declared war on the Union. I didn't surrender neither. But they took my horse and made him surrender ... they have him pullin' a wagon up in Kansas, I'll bet. -

I knew Mary Moriarty. She is partially responsible for the "Plain Feel" doctrine of cases. She once plainly felt my throbber. I was taken aback as I thought her a lesbian. It went no further than her grabbing it while she was drunk, I think out of disgust since it came to be as i was slow dancing with what I sort of presumed to be her date. -

Tuco is a great character. I prefer, only slightly, Eli Wallach as Calvera in the Magnificent Seven. When he delivers the line that "If he did not want them sheared, God would not have made them sheep", I love it. Of course Tuco washing his feet in potential drinking water in teh dessert as Clint suffers is classic. -
That happens.

Reopening Alcatraz as a Federal Prison

The first time I tried to watch I found it ponderous and quit. Years later i watched and enjoyed it. It is not a movie I would have considered recommending to anyone. That said it is McQueen and Hoffman both at their peak. -
Did I miss it, or perhaps misremember it? I thought the Supremes ordered the Administration to "facilitate" his return. To me "facilitate" and "effectuate" are two different standards of efforts.

Because the nature of military service is that it can be unpredictable as to schedules and as to supply logistics. That means regular doses of medications are not assured and as military service entails being essential personnel, even for support personnel who are noncombat personnel, that is a problem if someone becomes unfit to serve at inopportune times. For decades the left has tried to experiment with military service to advance their causes. The thing is military service has one, essential, and overriding goal, and the left needs to understand that. You need to understand that. Sometimes the adults must prevail and this is one of those times. Forget combat roles in war time. Picture a supply flight bringing routine, non-essential supplies to a base a thousand miles from any border or action. Upon landing the plane hits a severe wind shear and crashes, catching fire. The fire suppression personnel are commanded by Madam Twerker who is discommoded by not having her regular doses of everything she needs to keep her crotch wound from closing back up. She has no replacement. The fire suppression crew dispatches without her. They arrive 5 seconds late to the crash site and deploy their equipment 2 seconds longer than it would normally take them with Madam Twerker's supervison and participation. Being understaffed by one person they take an additional 10 seconds to get the jet fuel flames under control. Now imagine one of your family or friends was alive in that wreckage the flames advancing on them. Would that 17 seconds be of relevance? And that is in a non combat zone. Fitness for service is not a new concept and it should not be a political concept. It needs to be a readiness concept. Somehow I imagine you would be 4F but you want to decide who is fit for service which you would never do even were you fit. Leave this one to the adults who know what they are talking about.
