LIBERATION DAY: USA and China agree to a 90 day pause on most new tariffs
Engorgeous George replied to The Real timschochet's topic in The Geek Club
Did he over promise with that exact promise, as is his wont, or did he promise to get to work on lowering prices on day one, as a prudent politician would have. To my memory he promised the former but my memory may be off. -

Well that is a bit of good news in an otherwise bad day. I expect another rough day tomorrow and on Monday as Europe and asia have time to react, and right now they seem to be in a fighting mood. They are all proud peoples and they don't like to feel they are being dictated too. I wonder whether this will increase the odds the world moves away from the dollar as the default currency. Certainly the E.U and or China would reveal in the cahnce to become the new default world currency. I am holding off pulling the triggeer on buying a new house until at least Monday. Even then I anticipate only the vaguest idea where all this is heading. I may choose to simply update what I have. -

Beats the hell out of my salary, when I was making a salary. Now I'm living on savings, saving which took a bit of a hit today. That's life. The markets go up, they go down, they go round and round. I would prefer otherwise, but the world cares not what I prefer. -

Strange bedfellows, historically. -
Not Tyla. She is a grand daughter from my first wife actually. Reminds me a lot of her Mom, my first wife, though she is the daughter of a daughter my first had when we first met. No direct blood to me though she calls me Opa.

My family is white trash chased out of Germany and Ireland, respectively, four and five generations ago. We are relatively new to this experiment. 1859 is the earliest one of my ancestors set foot on this continent. Most not until the 1890's.

The dogs i have known have all been good travelers in cars, boats, canoes and rafts excepting one. That dog benefitted greatly from the Tunder Coat. Knowing a dog is not going to enjoy a trip I would find another option, but that is me.

Dow futures look bleak right now. I was surprized that reciprocal tariffs did not mean equal and opposite or equivilent. -

Maybe we can combine the two problems. We can provide a trariff credit for every illegal other countries will voluntarily take in. -
Why take a nervous and anxious dog on a trip where it is likely to be nervous, anxious, and therefore opotentially problematic in its behavior? Why take it where it will encounter numerous people its behavior may offend or even potentially harm? Seems boarding, either professionally or with a friend or family mermber is the play here.

I was merely positing one answer to the question posed. As for me I do not believe in tenure as it causes more problems than it has ever addressed, at least in my mind. -

Take away their keys to the locks and chains and then simply prevent folks from coming into physical contact with them for food, water, and toilet paper. See how long it lasts. -

Fiscal Note House Bill 25-1312 Initial The fiscal note hass a pretty fair summary of the Bill and its contemplated Civil Penalties, $3500 for each violation. I find it interesting that this is expected to require $14 million in funding this year and every year. One wonders where that funding will come from, perhgaps schools,or roads, or wildfire suppression, who knows? -

I don't know. i do remember several campus bombings. This one sticks out to me but there were others around the country. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sterling_Hall_bombing I mention this one as the thread started out Wisconsin-centric. -

I might argue your timeline by referencing the Weather Underground and the Black Panthers. There are others, as well. -

“Teachers and books are the springs from which flow the waters of knowledge.” -- --Inscription on the mall fountain at the University of Wisconsin/Madison. Some may think this Eau Claire Professor a poisoned spring, others may think he dispensed precious knowledge. I think when an English teacher cannot find words and resorts to actions they have indicted their ability to teach. -
