I don't think that will offer much deterrence. I think what offers more deterrence is those we stop and the border and ship back to where they started from so they can tell others that risking their lives, risking rape and starvation and months of depradation are definately not worth the effort since in the end all that happens is you get sent back.

Since the story originally broke and was criticized we have had 4 of the individuals shown in the original video arrested and charged with murder. We have had at least two arrested for a running (driving) gun battle down Havanna Street following the Venezualean election results in which gun battle an unmarked police car was hit with gunfire and a pedestrian shot. (the investigation and arrests took many months, they were just completed) Now we have the latest incident where 14 to 19 (depends on the reporting) Venezualans who seen like the belong to Tren De Aragua have been arrested for kidnapping and torturing illegals who reside in the apartment complex featured in the original story from late summer. The local paper, the Aurora Sentinel also has had a story reporting that these individuals gather at a local park weekend nights, taking over the place, before heading out to race around the city, defying police efforts to pull them over.

I welcome the transparency, if partisan investigations can actually offer such. As the investigation had partisan overtones I will take the report with a grain of salt, though I believe it will be based at least partially, if not in fact mostly on truth. As an attorney I do worry about precedent. Now that the door has been cracked open a bit who or what will batter that door completely down. In trials we attorneys look for the opposing side to open the door to admission of inadmissable evidence. It happens all the time. Me, when it happened I did not gently dip my toe in those waters, I dove right in. Asfopr this particular incident, my mind is already made up on Matt Gaetz. I am unclear how this assumption can be made. To my understanding that lab had many projects being run and when they got the funding they added yet another project. I suppose it is possible others may have funded this new effort, or they may have gotten there themselves without the funding which is really a nothing more than a request to undertake a new project, but to presume that seems a bridge too far.
