Hey, everyone. I've unfortunately got some bad news to bring you folks in regards to my dad. I remember hearing my dad talk about these forums a lot back in the day. I don't know if this is the right place to post this or even if any of the guys he talked to back then are still around, but my father has tragically passed away. He's been in a rough spot for the past few years, and on some level I suspect it goes even further back than that to a degree. On August 24th, I found him dead in his home with numerous used cans of compressed air and seemingly just as many empty cigarette boxes on the floor around him, with a can still in his hand. I have no words to describe this other than how unexpected it was. Although when I look further back it explains much of his past behavior. He's gotten into over 5 wrecks over the past year, and he's been found to have been huffing since an earlier accident this year - and there's traces of substance abuse going back to 2018. Since I graduated High School - and possibly before then even, I think he's lacked purpose. It's a common thing for people to retire, do a whole bunch of nothing, and passing away shortly after as a result. I know based on conversations I've had with dad over the years that he's felt purposeless for a while. After his most recent wreck, we were left with no vehicles - no means of transport. I'd started taking it upon myself to find a way for us to get by without either of us being able to transport ourselves - and had a good plan sorted out. The biggest one was groceries, which we found we could order online from Walmart. I later found out that he'd been using his funds to buy at least 40 cans of compressed air over the few days prior to his death. He'd also fallen for romance scams and lost over $10k over the past year to them - as he was desperately lonely and wanted someone - anyone, to give him a sliver of romantic companionship. And I think because of this, the other foolish purchases he's made, he felt a level of guilt for putting us so far in the hole financially. As of right now, there's over $5k of unpaid credit card debt and another couple thousand behind on the bills. My last conversation with him was on Friday - and after getting into his phone, I found that he'd neither made nor received any calls since then. His phone was still at 21% battery when I turned it on, and it was fully shut off when I found it. That's what had me worried in the first place - I called down there and got no response, not even a ring - just went straight to voicemail. It seems to me that all of this together was a suicide attempt - and sadly, a successful one. None of us had any idea that this was going on. Myself and his friends knew that something was going on - but we had no idea it was like this. He'd just turned 50, I figured I'd had a good number of years left with him. But instead, I found him 24 hours after his death. If you're someone out there struggling with addiction, depression, loneliness, or purposelessness - get help. Don't wait until it's too late, reach out, talk to a friend or two - don't worry about being a bother or a problem. Trust me - your friends and family would much rather have you around. If you're out there and you know someone who might be struggling, do everything you can to be with them and support them. Maintain consistent contact - daily if you can. If you've got friends and family out there you haven't spoken to in a while - give them a call. Take care of your mental health. Depression and drug abuse is no joke - mental health problems can be just as deadly as physical disease. Apologies if this is the wrong place to put this topic. Feel free to move it wherever is more appropriate. It seems most of his posts are in here, and I remember him specifically mentioning the Geek Club subforum - so I decided this is the best place to put it. If anyone is worried about me, don't be. I've got family to help me through all this. By the time all is said and done, I'll be well taken care of. Thankfully despite dad's poor financial decisions, he never did anything too harsh that we can't recover from - the property he lived on will be sold off soon, as well as much of what's inside it. I've seen firsthand what happens when a large sum of money is misused and abused - and I won't let the same mistake happen twice. I'll be putting most of it into a safe investment account, and use dividends to help me cover my additional costs of living and whatnot. Thanks for taking the time to read this, and if I could ask anything from the staff/admins here, it's that you not do anything like closing his account or anything. I'd like his contributions to the site to still stand and still be easily seen - and I'd like his account to still exist as it does today. And thank all of you for having fun with my dad when he was around. I know he appreciated all of you.

You read that correctly, someone in Germany sent my son 4500 bucks through paypal. It is sitting there, pending. It is saying it could take 21 days to clear since it from another country. I can't help but think this is some kind of scam to fock us over. My son has been running a gaming community for a few years now. It is mainly supported by me. lol We did have some guy from Germany play on the site and then turned right around and donated 4500 dollars. I keep telling my son there is no focking way in hell someone did that and something is very messed up. He understands that this is very unlikely. However, he is getting pretty pumped thinking he is going to have 4500 bucks soon. Is there some kind of scam out there I do not know about??? This seems extremely fishy to me. Does this sound fishy to you??? ETA: Anyone want to donate to my son's gaming community???

So, last night I went to fix some Mac N Cheese. Put some water in a pot and put it on my stove. Turned the burner to about level 8 to get it to boil fast. I am sitting in my living room watching some TV and I hear what sounds like a fire starting, you know, that poofing sound when a flame gets going good. I also notice out of the corner of my eye that my kitchen seems much brighter all of a sudden, I can see some flickering going on. I am thinking WTF??? How the hell is a pot of water catching on fire as I go to the kitchen. As I am heading to the kitchen, my son yells out "What the hell is that smell???" I get to my kitchen and see that the pot of water is not on fire, it is my toaster. I had turned on the wrong burner. I wanted to turn on the front burner, but mistakenly turned on the back burner, right where my toaster was sitting. So I tell me son "THE FOCKING TOASTER IS ON FIRE." He replies "Is it going to work in the morning??" I said "Nope, give a focking minute, I am trying to figure out how to put this fire out." So I am debating weather or not to throw water on it, but am not certain if the toaster is plugged in or not. I think, maybe a towel. Nah, that will prolly catch on fire too. So I start to try and blow it out with my locomotive breath. That gets part of it, the melting plastic on my back burner, but the toaster is flaming up big time and getting bigger by the second. Several years ago, I bought a fire extinguisher. So I grab it as it is right there on my kitchen table still. I break all the seals and pull all the safeties off and give it a little shot and BOOM, fire is out. THANK GOD. I was a little worried for a minute or two, but somehow never panicked However, this thing is still melting everywhere. Whole house is smokey as hell. Now, I have melted plastic on my stove top and cant seem to get it off. Anyone know how I can get this shtt off my stove top??? It is one of those flat stove top surfaces. TIA. I may have pictures soon too.

I have been out of the loop for years on movies. I only go to the movies a few times a year and haven't had a movie channel on cable in over a decade. So, I am trying Netflix free trail for a month. Loving it so far. Recommend a movie or show available on Netflix instant. I like thrillers, dramas, horror, sci-fy, action, adventure, etc... Seems like most of what I look up on there is only available through DVDs in the mail. So help a brother out, I will prolly only have this for a couple more weeks when my free trial runs out. I love the twisted dark movies, NOTHING is off limits. However, I am looking for anything that is like a must see from the last couple of decades and beyond that I might have missed. Also, any good documentaries. I am really looking for a good Nazi concentration camp documentary.

That is right. Found out my dad had a son right about 9 months before I was born. The family that I did not know about until yesterday does not seem mad or resentful, they just want to know about him. Of course we want to see the similarities between her father and myself since we are brothers. Maybe I should say we were brothers, he is now dead. Died in 2018. Not sure what happened yet, but it has been under a year since his dearth. I showed her a picture of my father at a young age and she showed me some of her dad around same age and they look a lot alike. She found me through Ancestry DNA thing. Said her grandfather ran my dad off because of age difference between her grandmother and my father and that they just want to know about my dad and about this side of the family. She did not know her grandfather, my father, was dead until yesterday. So I am overwhelmed. I feel happy. I have a niece. Something I never thought I would have and wanted. I am glad she found me and we plan to meet one day to swap dad stories. However, it is weird finding out all this now, over two years past my father's death. Plus, I have to find out what happened to her father since he is my brother, I am worried about dying super young. He was not even 50. How crazy is this sh1t???

I am not focking kidding. We were talking on the phone and the election comes up. She is telling me she is really depressed about the election and I mentioned how my son's grandmother's insurance is going to be 733.00 per month next year trying to get off of the topic of Trump. She always ignores what I say about him and just complains about him. I usually agree with most all her complaints too. She says it is the republicans fault for obstructing the bill. I ask her if she knows how many republicans voted for it. She IMMEDIATELY starts to get defensive and says she is not sure how many, but she knows they obstructed the bill so much, we were stuck with this turd. I tell her that not a single republican voted for it. She says it does not matter. I ask her how she figures that. She says I can not let things go. I am like WTF??? I always letting shtt go with you on this. Just want to understand your reasoning. After about 30 more seconds of this, she said "Bye Gary" and hung up on me. A few hours later, I get dumped in a private message. She said we have too many fundamental differences. 9 days from now would have been 6 months. Completely stunned.

My girlfriend(Gs and they are amazing) moved in with me at the end of May. She packed what she could and moved in. Just one load, in a Trailblazer. Her cat, which is very important to her. So I knew she was serious. We moved the rest of her stuff in this past weekend. Four days later, both her children move away, 16 hours away. My son has graduated high school. He went to this tech school half the day. After school was over, he emailed the teacher to see if she would let him come download some files he forgot. She did. I took him and talked with the teacher for about an hour. We had a great talk. His final project after two years in this class, graphic design, was to build a website. He came home that day and told me he blew the teachers away with his website, and that he half assed it. So I am talking to this teacher and I ask about this final project. She said three teachers grade the sites at the end of the year. She said within 5 seconds, she told him had an "A", another teacher said this is obviously a 100% and the third teacher said it was the best site they had ever seen a student do at this tech school. Said he should be able to make a great living just building websites for people/companies/business. She went on to say after the 5 seconds and they were all so blown a way, they stepped out of the chair and told my son to show them everything, because they were worried they would miss something. THey never have done that with a student, they just go through it themselves. He is that good. My son is self taught for the most part on all of this. We own 18 domains. He knows how to make sh1t just appear. When you scroll through a page, the words and paragraphs just shoot up from the bottom of the page. He has forums. That is just the beginning. Just like here, a lot of folks try to get around the filters. The one word he is super concerned about is the dreaded "N" word. So he has made it where nobody can post anything that would look even close to the "N" word where someone would know what they were saying. I say come on man, that has to be a long list. So he goes to the place where the words are listed. There are literally hundreds of variations he has seen people try and he made it to where they can't post it. I tried to have him give me the list so I can share it, it is too big. It turns into multiple files. Way over my head. He needs a job though. So that is what he is trying to do right now. He can not move away either as he is buying my home. The underground fight club is now above ground and most of the fights take place in the National Guard Armory in Evansville Indiana. The old place everyone was scared to go has become worse. We tried to help the neighborhood and it worked for about a year. No shootings are back up and lots of craziness happens. My girl does not want me going down there anymore at all and my son feels the same way. Our lives are extremely busy. We literally have appointments every single day. Her dad is extremely bad off, so we help him all the time too. I have lots of things I need to get done and do not even have time to return phone calls to people I love most days. It has helped me lose some weight. I have lost 100 pounds since my father died. I have also stopped smoking and I started smoking regularly when I was 15. It has been many months since I have had a cigarette. I stopped smoking around THanksgiving last year and fell off the wagon and smoked three ciggs. So my health is improving. I am down from about 14 meds a day to about 6. That Mustang GT I bought last September, I have already put well over 12K miles on it, and I also drive a truck and Camry and even my girlfriend's Trailblazer a lot. Mustang GT still doing good. I have gone to Plays and my girlfriend and I are going to a musical this weekend. She loves country music and I hate it. lol She hates metal and I love metal. We are compromising though. <3 So lots have changed in last year or two. And no, I am not broke. I have not blown my parents retirement money. Plus, my finance guy ROCKS!!!! I made over 8% last year. So I had to pull some cash out this year. I do not get much chance for social media and especially get much of a chance to post here. Just thought I would give you guys a quick update. Hope everyone is doing well. Oh yeah, one more thing. I pay almost no attention whatsoever to politics any more. Do not watch NFL either, at all.

Nope. Just enough life insurance to bury him. There was some retirement money. Sh1t is way over my head. All I know is I took out a lot of cash last year and am still pretty close to where I was when I started.

Have had it since December. It is pretty bad ass. In fact, my son went to that tech shool. I had him show me their's. Our's is way better.

I am diversified as fock. Plus, I have not said how much I took out last year. Way more than I should have and he has me almost back to where I started, in a year. So maybe it was more than 8%. Sh1t is over my head.

I have been trying o talk him out of it for years. He knows if he doesn't start bring cash in soon, I am selling the house.

My dad worked on cars and his Jeep all the time in there. He played hard and made money on the side. I have shared pics of the Jeep before. I still have it actually.

LOL, nope. I brought that sh1t above ground man. Told the police, won their support. Went to broad meetings, won their support. Next fight is at the National Guard Armory on the 28th of this month in Evansville Indiana.
