Round Four-Six Commentary - July Mock 2025
Mr. Landry replied to Mike FF Today's topic in The Mocking Station
Was happy to see Harrison make it to me. He was one of the guys I was hoping would make it back when I passed on WR for Bowers last round. He was a huge disappointment last year, but his talent is undeniable. He's locked in as the WR1 on his team and I hope with a year under his belt and, hopefully improved play from his QB, his numbers will improve. Had to swallow some puke for my fifth round pick. While I try not to let personal bias influence my draft, it's very hard to pick a Philthydelphia Eagal. But Devonta was the highest WR left on my board. He went 68 for 833 and 8 TD's in 13 games last season. That puts him at just over 15 points a game, which are top 20 numbers. I don't think Philthy can maintain the running pace they had last year and with a tougher schedule will have to air it out more. Which is more opportunity for Smith to improve on last year's numbers. There were two other players that I strongly considered here, but there were too many question marks around them and, waiting on WR, I felt I needed something more reliable. -

I like the McBride pick. I went back and forth a number of times between him and Bowers. Eventually landed on Bowers as I think he has a higher ceiling, but it would not surprise me if McBride it the #1 TE this year. -

Was eyeballing either Adams or Hill for this pick, but TBay and worm took care of that for me. I had a lot more confidence in Jacobs than I did the remaining options at WR. Jacobs landed right around RB6 last year and his situation hasn't changed, so a top 5 finish is not out of the question. I'm quite happy with the 1-2 punch of Bijan and Jacobs, although it remains to be seen what my WR room will look like. With my third round pick, I still was not enamored with the WRs available in comparison to what Bowers offers. I think there are two (maybe three) TEs who are head and shoulders above the rest and I did not believe any of them would make it back to me. I think Bowers provides me with a distinct advantage at the position and (I hope) will make up for weaker WR1 that I'll roster. -

It looks like Polecatt was posting on the main board an hour before he was on the clock, but he never made a pick (or sent names). Does he know this thing has started? -

Mr. Landry replied to Mike FF Today's topic in The Mocking Station
Didn't want to wake up at 6:00 am on my day off, so I picked early (thanks, JagFan). There were a couple of different options I considered at the two, but I think Robinson is the safest. He's an old-school, three-down back who was top five in every major rushing category. He had great numbers last year that improved when Penix took over and he'll be under center from game one this year. If he continues to avoid injury (knock on wood) he's an easy top three RB and, potentially, number one fantasy prospect this year. -

Do we have a fill in? Did someone find @The Football Guru?

Wouldn't miss it! And looking forward to it.

Way late on this one, but it appears this years "winner" is Hawkeye21. Beat remote controller by a mere 16 points. The 202 he put up in week 17 was the difference maker.

Here's a link to the 2024 website if you want to follow along. Double check your rosters to make sure they're correct (and maybe double check the scoring). The only note is Taysom Hill is not listed as a TE on the MFL site, so it looks like he'll only score QB points this year. 2024 FF Today July Mock

What rounds are Harrison and Kupp going in your draft?
Mr. Landry replied to jtztdm's topic in FFToday Board
Just got home from a 10 team PPR draft. Harrison went 2.05 and Kupp went 3.06. So very similar to Mike's draft (within two picks). -
QB: Dak Prescott, Aaron Rodgers: Comfortable with these two. The league doesn't carry into the playoffs, so Dak should put up solid QB numbers (certainly better than QB10, which is where I got him). Rodgers is getting up there in age, but when healthy he still has the talent to put up starter numbers. RB: Jonathan Taylor, Devin Singletary, Nick Chubb, Gus Edwards and Jaleel McLaughlin: I picked right after remote and as he mentioned, it was a tough place to gather running backs without over paying. Which is why this is the hole in my line up. I clearly went hero running back as I was the only team going into the seventh round with one RB. I'm thrilled with Taylor and think he can easily finish ahead of three or four of the guys taken in front of him. My #2 is iffy. I'm higher on Singletary than a lot of people, but will admit he is not in a good offense. If Nick Chubb can return to form, sooner rather than later, I think I'll be fine. Edwards and McLaughlin are dart throws that have the potential to pay off. WR: Garret Wilson, Cooper Kupp, DK Metcalf, Dionte Johnson, Brian Thomas, Michael Wilson: I believe this is the strength of my line up. I think the first four are sure-fire starters and both M Wilson and Thomas have high upside. TE: Kyle Pitts, Hunter Henry: I expect a bounce back from Pitts now that he's out from under the thumb of Arthur Smith (who had no idea what he was doing) and should have much better QB play with Cousins. I believe he'll look a lot like rookie Pitts than the last two years. Hunter Henry is solid, if unspectacular. He'll put up serviceable numbers most weeks and have a few peak outings. D/ST: Miami Dolphins: They were a top five defense last year, are usually about the 7th Defense off the board this year and are ranked in the top ten most places I looked. What do I know about defenses?

Add me to the list of the people that were going to take Mooney. Went with another upside WR in Wilson. He had a solid rookie campaign and I'm hopeful with a full year of Murray under center he'll improve upon his numbers. As for defenses, Miami is a defense. -

I had Chuba all teed up and ready to go, only to have remote cut my legs out from under me. I pivoted to Jaleel. The Denver backfield is a mess, but Jaleel's "metrics" are far better than any of his competition and he looked good in limited use last year and supposedly looks good in camp so far. I think he gets usage at the worst and takes the #1 spot in Denver in the best case scenario. Hunter Henry excites no one, but at this point in the draft none of the TE's do. He's solid and put up decent numbers last year while battling through injuries. Healthy this year, with what should be better QB play and a questionable WR core to compete with, I think he'll put up solid TE2 numbers and, if I'm lucky, can flirt with TE1. -

Mr. Landry replied to Vikings4ever's topic in The Mocking Station
For comparisons sake, last year we started on the 24th and the first pick of the thirteenth round was on the 31st. This year we started on the 22nd and the first pick of the thirteenth round was today, the 30th. So last year it took 8 days, this year 9. Although this feels like a glacial pace, we're only a day off last year. If we can get round 14 done today, I know...doubtful, we'd be on the same pace as last year. -

Went back and forth a couple of times between Thomas and Odunze. Odunze is the better talent, but I think Thomas will have more opportunity so I went that route. With Ridley and Flowers out of Jacksonville that leaves a lot of targets up for grabs and, while Gabe Davis will absorb some of them, I think Thomas will get is fair share. In any case, I think he's got high upside which is what I'm looking for at this point in the draft.
