I'm going to be 40 later this year and just recently got married (5 months in). I'm really on the fence about having kids, haven't had the ticking biological clock feeling, but I am feeling like it would be time to try if we're going to do it. And I lean toward going for two if we commit to it. My husband has a 14-year-old son with his ex-wife. He's great with kids and would be happy with more, but he's also baseline content now. He feels like he'd be happy either way. Curious to hear from you guys, if any geeks had kids around this age.

Woke Rachel Zegler makes new career move after humiliating Snow White box office bomb
naomi replied to Maximum Overkill's topic in The Geek Club
She's easy to dislike, but the producer (or at least his son) is scape-goating her. Her crime was being too loud about the woke elements of the plot, but she isn't why it's woke, or why the dwarf debacle and crappy CGI happened. She truly seems like a narcissist, so it's weird to defend her on one hand, but the failure is on Disney fundamentally, and they're just happy to let her be piled on. -
Why don't we have the name of the Blackhawk helicopter pilot?
naomi replied to Patented Phil's topic in The Geek Club
It was a male voice that requested visual separation. I don't know if that sheds any light on who was controlling the helo in the moment. The piloting controls are meant to be shared if needs be. If it was a more experienced pilot flying, I could see some deference/false sense of safety at play. With a less experienced pilot, the other aviators are going to be more on guard. But then again, their training probably hammers that everyone be vigilant like their lives depend on it, at all times. It's going to take time to understand the breakdown. -
On approach I tend to speed up so I can be obviously first, or slow down (as long as no one is right behind me) so I'm obviously last. When that fails, I mostly intuit (sometimes unsuccessfully) what we're all feeling () the order is and proceed accordingly. I don't trust that what I perceive to be a tie, or not a tie, is a shared perception.

Aww. Thanks Strike

Thanks! We first connected through Christian Mingle back in late 2017/early 2018 (we both aren't sure). He drove a couple hours to see me a handful of times. I thought he was really handsome and really nice but for whatever reason I just wasn't attracted to him. It was weird, internally... like why not? In hindsight I believe it's because he wasn't really himself. He was a year or so out from his marriage failing (infidelity on her part), and he was still reeling from that. Very gunshy but probably trying to play it off. Fast forward to 2022 and I moved to his county. I sent him a text one day (we had kept in text contact until probably sometime in late 2020), when it occurred to me he was the only person I knew in the county. He was in a relationship at the time, so the texts were cursory, and then he wound up sending me more purposeful texts a few months later. We met up and the attraction on my end was pretty instant. The rest is history. He's more of an extrovert and chipper person, but he can definitely enjoy his alone time, too, so we meld well in that sense. And even more importantly he has good character and a kind heart.

I felt it just as a smooth wave under my feet (while sitting in home office) in inland Nor Cal. Some colleagues in a skyscraper in Sacramento really felt the swaying; there was cracking and crashing noises, drawers coming open. Unnerving but everything/one is fine.

Thanks! I'm doing well. Semi-taking care of my parents (compound-like living situation), and I got married recently. Moved from Sac almost 3 years ago and I'm in a somewhat saner county.

I'm hoping the economy hangs on for dear life, a worse virus isn't released, people here eventually see what's happening at the fed level is actually good, and decide not to lean back into the vomit. Wishful thinking but

I like a decent amount of Trump's picks, but I've always intuitively had an aversion to Gaetz. Kenneth Copeland physiognomy. He seems to be his own man, though, which is rare in DC.

Well before J6, people of moderate to high intelligence who supported Trump were concerned that Qanon was controlled opposition. There were a lot of idiots and goobers to activate. And I'm sure some legitimately dangerous, malevolent people. But the whole thing really stinks of having more dimension than that.

There was a lot of J6 weirdness. Trump's words and requests that day don't mesh with stoking violent overthrow. The security ball was dropped by Pelosi. You had people carefully respecting the velvet ropes and cloaked agitators finding doors unlocked for them. Election night and the lead up..there are a lot of people (myself included) who believe a significant number of shenanigans went on . The drama on J6 went down literally just as an interesting constitutional process to explore questions of potential invalidity was beginning. It's not actually a "pants down" thing. You will think it is, or isn't, depending on what narrative/propaganda you're more steeped in, and the thickness of the walls in your echo chamber.

What do you think she's thinking? https://x.com/kylenabecker/status/1840882974226571489 I'll spare my "read" on it, but I find this fascinating. On a human, intuitive level, this should reveal more than words can.

Haiti, anyone paying attention? Crazy
naomi replied to RaiderHaters Revenge's topic in The Geek Club
I'll be honest. I was ignorant that Haiti is what it is. Learned something new. https://x.com/WallStreetApes/status/1833981036289753558 Made the mistake of seeing this post first thing yesterday morning: https://x.com/DrewHLive/status/1833538506326716540 -

Great article. Just the mechanics. Not partisan. It points out one of Trump's politically popular but real-world damaging fiscal policies, too. https://mises.org/mises-wire/kamala-wants-price-controls-and-its-not-because-she-has-good-intentions

Trump talk only- no Eagles talk allowed (Steelers talk is OK though)

And I'll give you that quote you shared on most of what happens. Most of us are simple. But sometimes it's the quality of the relatively infrequent that has a profound impact. -

You realize conspiring is a reality of the human condition? Especially the intelligent, wealthy, and sociopathic (~4% of the population) human condition. -
You seem to be understating the consequences of price controls. But that is a potentially worthwhile point about how feasible follow-through would or wouldn't be. The FTC under this admin is already active on making the "case" for price controls. What pressure could they exert? And I'm glad you brought up Trump's tarrifs plan because that sounds worthy of understanding, too. https://www.cato.org/blog/trumps-tariff-plan-will-raise-prices-consumers-just-bastiat-warned-170-years-ago

naomi replied to The Real timschochet's topic in The Geek Club
It's not "conspiratorial" in the least. Follow what governmental policies they push, and what corporate influence they machinate. Then simply ask cui bono? in the dust of their controlled demolition. -
Thanks for explaining what the Mises Institute is to me. If you knew me well, you'd understand why that's funny. The author does mention the danger of Trump's tarrifs plan. (I need to school myself on that).

Harris is genuinely no one's choice. She was never even popular in CA. It's bonkers. The buzz for her is entirely manufactured. What's alarming about her is that she has ideological affinity for Marxism. The WEF elite are gunning for a global technocratic fascist oligarchy, and they use Marxist appeals as a Trojan horse. I'm honestly not even sure if Trump isn't also a tool to transition the world to where they want. But it is pretty clear Biden was a puppet. And ideologically it looks like Harris will be a very willing puppet.
