Jeff Wilson on IR- MOSTERT A #1RB?

that was kind of my thought as well. he has to land somewhere, and this is a team in need.
  2. honestly it has never sounded like the team was concerned about the health situation. ditto for the player. I think you nailed it, and then the team used it as an excuse to effectively suspend him with full pay. its just part of the dance at this point.

Jeff Wilson on IR- MOSTERT A #1RB?

well, Archane now has an easy path to more carries. Mostert has always had good stats relative to how much he plays. his problem is when you ramp up his usage he nearly always gets injured. To that end, I dont know that you can count on him getting all the carries now that Wilson is gone. I think this now becomes a time share with Archane if he is up to the task. the other possiblity is that Mostert gets all the carries and gets hurt like he usually does. then Archane gets all the carries. so you should buy Archane right? Hold your beer. to complicate matters, the Phins have been rumoured to be in the free agent market all pre season. this leads me to believe they are not super happy with any of the RB on the roster currently. while most of the free agent RB's are gone, there are still a couple left and if they sign one this either becomes their backfield or this becomes a 2 or 3 headed monster (again) so while I do like Archane more than I did before this news came out, I dont know that I'd go out and increase the price I'd pay for him. hes still a late round dart throw. but maybe slightly more attractive one than he was last week.

I admit it is close. I'd pitch wilson but if someone did Shaheed I wouldnt fault them for that call. it is a close call.

Just finished my first Best Ball draft IDK

In a best ball the strategy is a bit different. players with low floors and high ceilings are valued a bit more because its best ball. at WR only your best 2 or 3 at the position (depending on how many you start at that position) will count. so once your starters are picked, you are looking for high upside players who you hope will occasionally explode for big numbers. the guy who gets 50 yards a game is a nice backup in most formats but the guy who gets 20 yards on half his games and 90 yards on the other half is by far more desireable in this format even though his stats over the year wont be as good.
  6. yeah, but some of the crap that has come out of his mouth during this time has come pretty close to that line. and may have even crossed it. either way, its effectively a suspension with full pay. so he can rehab his injury and does not need to be in the dressing room. (thus no distraction while this nonsense is going on) not entirely a bad move for the team.

Arizona is tanking this year for sure

It may look like a tank job because they dumped Hopkins, but I think the team was in salary cap trouble and given Hopkins age I think a mutual decision was made. I am betting Hopkins didnt want to stay through a rebuild and the team didnt want to be hamstrung by his salary. so a deal was struck to buyout the contract. but the team was a dumpster fire before it got to this point, this just made it more obvious.

Lockett vs Kirk vs Willams vs Aiyuk

with WR, its also hard to say. when a team goes from a losing team to a winning one, sometimes the WR who put up the numbers will change. if the team is losing, certain guys may do well in garbage time. good example of this was a guy named Cecil Shorts. when he was fantasy worthy, he was the garbage time king. but when the team started winning games his stats went sour. he did well playing against the soft zone defenses that teams play in when they are up 2+ TD but early in the game against man defense he didnt accomplish much. I cant count the number of games where he got like 2 catches for 20 yards and then 5 more catches for 65-75 yards in garbage time (2nd half of 4th quarter) when the team started winning the garbage time catches left and he became worthless as a WR. not saying thats the case here, but I would sure love to see someone do garbage time stats on the website. I think that would be a useful tool for player analysis.
  9. I'm sure he probably isnt 100%. its one of those subjective things where its about how the player feels. I think the team Put him on the PUP to salvage the relationship. what they probably should have done is suspend him for conduct detrimental to the team so he doesnt get paid. The pup option allows the team to pay him his full salary. its like being suspended with pay. Like you, I suspect hes well enough to play if he had to, but it sounds like we are not at that point yet. after 4 games without him we shall see how the team feels about moving forward without him. This is a case where both sides likely could have handled things better. The owner needs to learn to keep his yap shut when it directly affects his team haha but JT also needs to cool his temper too. this whole thing should never have gotten to this point, but in the end, thats what happened. I blame both parties.

    Dynasty Team

I dont know what league you play in but I think Pierce, Walker and Cook is a good RB room. in Dynasty this is very good as I think both Pierce and Walker will be good RB in this league for a long time (barring injury). both will be either Low end RB1 or high end RB2 this year (which is average at worst) and both have decent upside. Cook could also be an RB1 if things fall right in New York though I admit hes more likely a top notch RB2. Jamal Williams is coming off ACL surgery but by this time next year he should be primed to be a good RB as well. Zeke is nice depth.
  11. whenever I look at this I am shocked.........your top WR in New York are Slayton, Hodgins, Campbell, and Hyatt. it is looking like Waller will be the #1 option in the pass game unless I am missing something. any New York Homers want to chime in on this? I'm sure some WR has a decent year. at this point I"m almost tempted to go with Hyatt (who happens to be a rookie) Realistically, what is the deal here?

    Dynasty Team

true, but teams in the championship window usually trade off all but the very best of the rookies to stay in that championship window or to keep that window open.

    Dynasty Team

if this isnt a championship team its pretty close. only fault I could find is that you dont have a backup TE and I'm not even sure thats something you need to have in this format. Kenneth Walker and Dameon pierce are both underrated players and I'm betting at least one of them becomes a legit RB1 (though I would argue Walker is already there) and its even possible both end up RB1 by year end. Cook is also a potential RB1 in his destination (though more likely a very good RB2) and love the depth with the rest. AT WR Jefferson, Kupp and Lamb? cant beat that tandem. Olave and Jeudy too? You've cleaned up. Herbert at QB. cant beat it. Hes a top 5 QB and has a decent shot at being the #1 ranked QB by this time next year.

either him or Wilson. I am leaning towards Wilson as shaheed is one year further in his development so there is a bit less risk there. but in my mind it should be either Shaheed or Wilson. Wilson has a lot of intagibles (blocking, special teams play) that make him the better player overall but you dont get fantasy points with blocking ability and rarely get fantasy points with special teams play.

    Ideas at #2

agreed. I also dont like drafting out of the #2 slot either

The Receiving Room in New York (Giants)

he is actually a guy I'd consider with a late round pick. he showed some signs of being a player last year. so there is the chance he could do something this year. I fully agree it could be a hail mary but in the last or second to last round of your draft I could think of worse picks to make.
  17. Ray_T

    Ekeler vs Bijan

and that guy probably ended up with some piss poor RB's. but going RB-RB I bet you still ended up with solid WR because the WR depth is still good later in the draft
  18. I think if he wants out and the Colts refuse to trade him he has to play a certain number of games for the final year of his contract to be considered fulfilled. I forget what number that would be (6 I think because the 4 weeks he's on the PUP count as he actually reported to camp) So I'd count on at least 6 games from the guy. after that, its a crapshoot. so Kamara esque is likely in the ballpark. Though I think there is a chance he plays less games than Kamara. If he plays less than that he still owes the team a year and wont be a free agent and wont be eligible for the franchise tag (if that matters)
  19. Ray_T

    Ekeler vs Bijan

yeah. its funny I never planned to do the draft in this way but when all the WR were going early I decided to go RB instead and got 3 very good RB. then I went back to WR and was amazed at how much talent there still was in the WR pool. to that end I have concluded there are actually too many good WR. If I could get a top WR (or a game breaker if you will) I'd draft one early. if not, I'd go RB-RB and then go back to WR or QB or possibly TE. I have found a lot of times when everyone tries one strategy, there is an advantage in going with a different strategy than everyone else. for example if drafting at 7 and 4 of the first 6 picks are WR, I'd likely go RB. but if 4 of 6 are RB I'd flip it and go WR. I have had success with this sort of thing in the past.
  20. Ray_T

    Ekeler vs Bijan

in the July Mock I ran with this exact strategy. go take a look at my team. I never took a WR until round 5 and it turned out just fine.
  21. Ray_T

    Ekeler vs Bijan

I have found the zero RB strategy really only works reliably if you are the only one doing it. if multiple people do zero RB one or two people inevitably gets screwed and ends up with backups as their starting RB. whether you get screwed largely depends on where you are when that final run on RB's happens
  22. yeah, off the field Mixon is definitely a train Wreck. very possible something happens in terms of suspension this year or next. the downward numbers I was expecting. his team had O line issues/injuries last year. I knew this would affect his numbers. whether this continues to some degree will depend on the line situation.
  23. Ray_T

Is this trade worth it. Herbert for RB/QB

initially I thought he was trading you Herbert. but then I looked at your roster. I dont think you should make this deal. Herbert is gonna be fantastic. look at last season. he played with a rib injury. due to the way the throwing motion is (and I know I played QB back in the day) a Rib injury is bad for QB. and then when the injury started to heal, both his top WR got hurt. Guy still put up decent numbers. I'd look at last years stats as the floor for Herbert. everyone is now healthy and now he has a shiny new First round WR to throw to. This is gonna be a high flying offense. DO NOT TRADE HIM AWAY.
  24. Ray_T

    Chase or Jefferson?

In the first round you always take the best player available. do not worry about the stack. if it does worry you, thats what trades were invented for. I'd take Jefferson
  25. at this point Mattison is an under rated option. Ekeler and Kupp are great. Mixon and Metcalf are good. I think you are keeping the right guy. Mattison is a nice option too. I agree you should bail on Taylor unless he magically gets traded before your keeper deadline is due. Even then, his value may depend on where he lands too. If you want him back I think you will be able to draft him. Not sure I'd recommend that unless he falls a ways but stranger things have happened.
