there is a shortage of those types. if you can get 2 you're in good shape.

DeAndre Hopkins will be a WR1 for scoring this year. seems to be down on this guy this yeeveryone ar, but I think hes gonna have a good season.

UPDATE: Jonathan Taylor: Asking For A Trade - New Contract Extension!
Ray_T replied to LaChup's topic in FFToday Board
Just because it doesnt seem smart doesnt mean it wont happen. I've seen plenty of stupid moves by multiple teams (including your Phins) that I didnt think were all that smart. but I guarantee you... smart or not if someone at the top thinks this move gives them a good shot at a superbowl they will take that shot. -
you wont get either back. chances are slim for both. when a player has an ADP in round 1 and you keep only 1.. the first round of the draft is like drafting in round 2. whoever isnt protected will be lost. no question about it. There is no way either player lasts beyond the first or 2nd pick of round 2..... that said... have you looked into trading one of them?

How i decide: if you take the best RB on the board in round 1 and that RB is expected to get 24 points per game and the best WR is expected to get 22 points per game. if you choose not to take a RB (or WR) in that particular round that is what you are giving up. then you look at the RB/WR you expect to get in round 2. Lets say the fantasy points per game for the best RB/WR on the board next round is 20 for the RB/17 for the WR. the amount of fantasy points you give up by holding off on a round to take a RB is 4 (24-20) the amount you give up to get the WR is 5. in this example it makes sense to take the WR in round 1 because the expected loss on your WR1 position is greater than the expected loss on the RB position. That said, if the highest expected points per game for RB in round 2 is 18 fantasy points, then the dropoff for RB is more steep and it makes sense to take the RB first. I do this exercise in round 1 (and sometimes round 2) but beyond that it is too difficult as the permutations and combinations of players available is huge. this also lets you determine if your plan changes if a certain player drops in the draft (if you are picking later in round 1)

UPDATE: Jonathan Taylor: Asking For A Trade - New Contract Extension!

I dont know. the Vikings just got rid of one high paid RB. I cant see them going out to get another. if they were gonna do this why didnt they just run with Dalvin Cook? I know JT has better stats, but he was also running behind a better line in Indy. The one year he had a huge year, Indy was considered to have the best O line in Pro football. if they go get him they will be in the exact same position they were in with Cook. Miami feels like a better fit. They need a playmaker at RB. not sure how their cap space is, but talent wise, they can use him. -

if the deal happens it will be Kareem Hunt. but the reality is... I dont think the deal happens. I suspect this is about money. my guess is JT asked for a pile of money. he was offered market value and balked at it. told ownership he felt disrespected. Ownership says.... if you think you can get more money we will green light a trade. go seek one and if you can find one we will make it happen. so if JT finds he cant do better elsewhere, he will sign with the Colts and all this will have been for naught -

hey if someone is willing to pay that much, they can sign Kareem Hunt to a 1 year deal at a fraction of the cost for this season, and then draft someone next year. if Hunt performs they fill a need elsewhere. feels like a win-win if they can make the deal -
In general, the person getting the best player in most multi player deals usually wins on the trade. Mahomes is worth more than Tua and Tua is one big hit away from a career ending concussion. I dont like the risk. McCaffrey is better than Pacheco but McCaffrey is also an injury waiting to happen. dude has been injured far more than hes been healthy. is this a redraft or a keeper league? if its a keeper league the risks are probably way too high. its generally a bad idea to trade young keepers for older keepers unless you are likely to win as a result of the trade. so in that scenario its a for sure No. in redraft risks are still high I noticed that you listed Herbert as being on your team. is that Herbert the QB or Herbert the RB? if it's Herbert the QB I would make the deal because you have another stud QB waiting in the wings. if its Herbert the RB I would seriously consider whether you should make the deal because then Tua is your #1 and you are acquiring 2 damaged players for one healthy and elite one and you are giving up a RB2 on top of that. it feels like a high price to pay. for it to work out both players need to be fully healthy all year long and I dont honestly think that will happen. You will be lucky if you get one of them staying healthy. I'm leaning towards a No on this for redraft too.

This is the Chubb and Kelce show. Chubb and Kelce are both first round picks. Nobody else on this list is, so lets not worry about THEM. to that end, Kelce is ranked higher than Chubb in terms of expected fantasy production for this year, but Chubb is youngish(27) while Kelce (33)is not. I'd keep Chubb for that reason and that reason alone. But Kelce does likely give a better chance to win this year only. After this year, it is likely all Chubb.
-
I'm almost surprised he wasnt a first round pick. but his speed does appear to be a cut below elite. Maybe that's why he wasnt a first rounder
-
I'll second that. nice highlight reels. he looks like he knows how to sit in the soft spot of the zone D. but his ball skills are pretty sick. nobody out jumps him
-
so he got nailed for gambling on sports that are not football? and was suspended for that? ok thats a bit crazy. I fully understand and get the gambling on football thing. This feels like overkill
-
I like this pick. If he wins the WR1 job he could have himself a real nice season.
-
Carr is outside the top 20? at that price I'd be buying him all day long.
-
Keeper? or redraft? in a case like this the format will make a difference
-
moore is the more talented player. but he has a lesser QB and a lesser offense. you mention its the same round equivalent so I assume this is a keeper league. I think Jeudy could out perform him this year. but its tough to walk from a player who put up 1100 yard seasons with Kyle Allen, Teddy Bridgewater, and Sam Darnold at QB and then a 900 yard season with Baker Mayfield. I think I take Moore. but once again this is very close.
-
the first thing I say is you should NEVER look at a deal like this as 2 player for 4. Simply because you still need to drop 2 to make roster space. so I'm happy to see you mention you would have to drop White and Hunt. -------------------------------------------------------------- That said. Kamara and Dobbins are close to a wash. Kamara is the bigger name but I like Dobbins about as much as him Kamara is worth slightly more in redraft but less in keeper/dynasty Ridley had a huge season in 2020 and was having a meh season in 2021 when he took time off for what I think was mental health reasons. This is tough to evaluate his value due to time off and the mental health thing. There is an awful lot of pressure on NFL players to produce. it sounds like he had a lot of incidents that led to this. so some of the triggering incidents are likely gone. But you could be giving up a top 10 WR. Jeudy I actually think will have a good season. I think the coaching change will be good for him. Granted Jeudy in the new offense could also be a top 10 WR but more likely he is a top 15 WR. so this is reasonably close. early reports are that Ridley has looked like a #1 WR at times in camp. but even with the time off its not a given hes a #1 all year long. I'd say the two players are roughly equal in value and I've flip flopped back and forth on who I like better. Ridley has the better upside I think But Jeudy is likely a 1000 yard WR in the new offense (in my opinion) so hes not chump change. once again I'd say in keeper/dynasty I'd take Jeudy who is only 24 over Ridley who is 28 (I think) in redraft its close to a wash. Jamal Williams is a throw in but I view him as being better than Zamir White. a lot better. but White does have value if Jacobs holds out. I saw an interview with the Raiders GM who looked really sure he would get Jacobs onto the field. Drake London is gonna be a good WR for a long time. crappy QB this year will hinder him some. but he could put up WR3 numbers for you this year. Bottom line: in a keeper/dynasty I'd do the deal but instead of dropping Hunt I'd look at dropping Gainwell or Penny (who apparently has looked like he may get cut from the eagles due to poor play) Hunt has starting potential even if he is not on a team today. Eagles RB's are likely a committee with Swift as the leader while his health lasts (which admittedly may not last long) if you are in a Dynasty league I do this deal. Keeper league it would depend on how many you actually keep but I'd probably do the deal there too. Redraft- it is close. I'd probably still do it but if you are not thrilled with your defense or your kicker, I'd drop one of them instead of Gainwell or Penny and wait until you know the result of the Philly camp battle. then drop one of them to pick up the defense or kicker you dropped. I recommend you dont drop Hunt.
-
agreed. I'd argue Walker is a must keep. in PPR or standard leagues. I also like Cook Better than White. Cook is in a Better offense and on a better team (which usually means more carries for the RB in garbage time) And Weepaws is 100% right in this quote.... see below if you want White back chances are good you can get him. if you throw Walker back someone will scoop him for sure. or it will cost a whole lot for you to get him back.
-
probably I should have made it tougher and said nobody ranked inside the top 20 on fftoday lists. Then you would REALLY get some interesting names come out.
-
what this exercise does is force you to think outside the box a bit. anyone can pick a top 12 WR or top 12 RB. 80% of the teams out there will get a good player with their first round pick. Probably their second and third round pick too. but picking guys outside of the top 12 for each position...... this is where your draft is usually won (or lost) if you can put together credible starters with players outside the top 12 and successfully draft many of them later in your draft.... chances are good that you will have a good team.
-
honestly this is like the early Drew Brees years. Brees threw for 5000 yards but had No 1000 yard WR. as for Skyy Moore.... all WR have subpar metrics in their rookie year in an Andy Reid offense. This will be the year we find out if the player can play. I am predicting around 700 receiving yards with a few good games.

Those of you who've drafted already, what were the biggest surprises?
Ray_T replied to DaBeerz's topic in FFToday Board
maybe. his issue is easier. he has a QB with a different skillset and hasnt been able to make the adjustment. I think he will eventually get there but I dont think his numbers will ever be what they were with Rothlisberger -
what are your strengths? do you throw a nice spiral?
-
Chiefs were without a true #1 WR last year. They are also without one this year. JuJu is gone (replaced by Toney) difference is... their de facto #1 (Toney) is injured again....if he misses significant time, its a tall order to ask Mahomes to repeat what he did last year with (arguably) less to work with (again) and Kelce, at 33 is another year older. Interestingly enough I do really like Noah Gray. I think as Kelce declines Gray's numbers will improve. I can see Sky Moore taking another step forward. is he ready to be a #1 WR? I ask because I dont know the answer. in the end after seeing last year, I dont wanna bet against KC but I also have to ask myself can Mahomes do this again with potentially less to work with (again) if he does, it will be the most amazing feat I've seen
