    Dynasty Keeper

point made. sometimes when you look back in time you forget exactly which years the guy played. and can over (or under) estimate how good they were relative to their peers at the time.
  2. Hall was just activated off the PUP. I dont think he digs into Cook's carries until at least a few weeks into the season. with Cook on the roster the team can take their time letting Hall heal up. no point risking a re-injury. The fact they gave Cook this kind of money makes me think they will run cook into the ground at least until mid season. Possibly late season. last few weeks of the Year Hall may eat some of Cooks Carries (cook tends to wear down/get hurt late in the season anyhow) so this may actually work out perfectly for Hall.

    Pre-Season Action - Week 1

yeah if I recall I think he declared early. so there is still time for him to turn it around. but hes now a couple years into his rookie contract. however, he is at risk of not having the 5th year option taken if he doesnt take the starting job for himself soon.

    Keeper, Pacheco or Etienne?

I think Pacheco has a max upside low end RB1 but only because of the offense he is in. on most other teams its that of a high end RB2. Etienne does have higher upside in my opinion. he came back from a terrible injury last year (which still concerns me some) and played well. the spread in terms of what you give up to keep each does make this a tough decision, but in cases like this I usually go with the player with the higher upside overall. (which is Etienne)

Ezekiel Elliott Expected to Sign with New England

certainly possible. any clue what kind of money he got on this contract?

Ezekiel Elliott Expected to Sign with New England

this post below I have copied from another thread on another website. I have yet to fact check this, but from memory at least some of this is correct. if this guy is fully correct, you should have downgraded Stevenson even before the Zeke signing. Quote below: Team leader in receptions by a RB with Bill O'Brien attached to the offense: 2007 - Kevin Faulk - 47 2008 - Kevin Faulk - 58 2009 - Kevin Faulk - 37 2010 - Danny Woodhead - 34 2011 - Danny Woodhead - 18 2014 - Arian Foster - 38 2015 - Jonathan Grimes - 26 2016 - Lamar Miller - 31 2017 - Lamar Miller - 36 2018 - Lamar Miller - 25 2019 - Duke Johnson - 44 2020 - David Johnson - 33 I don't see that list and get warm and fuzzy that Stevenson will sniff 100 receptions.

Excellent is pushing it. Solid is the word I'm thinking of. but we dont have to agree.

    Kick Ass Kickers

maybe so. most years I have waited until the first kicker is taken and then take Tucker on my next available pick. this may be the year I cant do that.
  9. I dont disagree. wouldnt surprise me if Breece Hall started getting a larger share of the carries late in the season. but the first half of the season is all Cook. personally I thought he might be a better fit in Miami, but it sounds like they were not gonna give him the cash he wanted
  10. (coach to Hall) Take a seat son, you are injured. we brought someone in to shoulder the burden until you are ready for full time work. at 8.6 Mil, Cook is playing and playing a lot.

Bill Belichick is a Facade. Not a good coach!

agreed. lots of coaches have had fantastic QB's and not won the superbowl. even if all the talent is there, you still have to call the right play in the right situation to get the job done. its not exactly easy. I dont love Belichek, I dont even like him, but I do respect what hes been able to accomplish.

    Kick Ass Kickers

Ive done well by this guy. best thing about him is he is rarely the first or second kicker off the board and he is usually a top 5 kicker. I think one year he was the #8 ranked kicker. if that's your floor, its a nice floor. Whats not to like.
  13. yeah an 0-4 start would make them shoo him out the door quickly. though Chicago and New Orleans are not exactly powerhouses either. they could beat one or possibly both. more likley they get one win and one loss out of those two with Minny and Philly chewing them up (most likely) either way Trask is still largely an unknown. the scouting report on him suggested he could eventually be a decent starting QB but that first year could also be rough for him. I do agree, he will likely get his shot at some point this season. I question whether Mayfield has the ability to do enough to keep Trask off the field.
  14. ok I hadnt heard that. all I heard was that it was a friend of his doing the shooting. but providing the gun so another idiot can do the shooting is almost as bad. good grief, this guy is a piece of work.

    Dynasty Keeper

true, but very thin. only like 180 lbs. https://www.nfl.com/prospects/jameson-williams/32005749-4c34-4909-bc5e-bde59d1a8826 the link above was the scouting report for him. hes still not a finished product is all I am saying. it may take a bit more time for him.

Early Keeper Question (Keep any 3)

this is probably the right answer. if you are averse to keeping a TE, Walker is the next best choice. the value difference between him and Hockenson is minimal, so it is mostly a matter of preference. I prefer to have depth at RB and it is easier to accomplish this with two RB keepers so thats likely how I would approach it. Chubb, Allen and Walker would be my keepers but thats due to my own bias (which I have disclosed to you for full transparency) also worth noting, if you want to re acquire both players, hockenson is more likely to fall to you to be re drafted than Walker. so if you like both players, this is an option to keep both (unless someone better is available of course)

    KEEPER RB

Hall isnt 100% so there is the chance Mattison outperforms him this season. but I do think long term, Hall is the better player and also younger and likely the guy you want to keep. to that end, if it was my team I'd keep Breece Hall

and who do you think gives them the story? one of your jobs as coach is to control the commentary. if you dont give the media something to write about then they will write a story you may not want to see. so the coach says, hey bub, you looking for a story, write this one citing an unnamed source not authorized to speak that so and so isnt performing up to expectations and has had his reps cut. then the story comes out, player (or his agent) sees the story, and the player (hopefully) starts to play better. its like handing out discipline without actually tearing a strip off the player (which apparently coaches cant do anymore) of course its coach speak. indirectly. the coaches are always buddy buddy with the beat writer cuz when they want info leaked they can control the narrative however they want. they can leak the story that the player isnt playing well and then even come to the players rescue to make him think the coach is on his side. if you think this crap doesnt happen, I'd like to sell you some real estate......

    Deuce Vaughn

thats silly but yeah, my point is still valid. last exhibition season the starters get a lot more playing time. if he starts lighting them up, then I'd say we have a player.

    Deuce Vaughn

thats the thing. so many players do well the first month of camp but once the cuts start rolling in and they start playing against starters suddenly they dont look so great last week of exhibition and the week before final roster cutdowns is the time to really pay attention. Thats when the pre season reports matter the most.

I'll take your word for it. I'm not there to watch so I only know second and third hand info. been burned this way in the past so I'll worry about it later in the month when the preseason portion that matters is happening.

so be it. but this is also coachspeak too. how much there is to it? hard to say for sure. without a doubt the coach is trying to motivate the guy. there is no doubt of that. whether hes truly on thin ice (or not) remains to be seen. it is certainly possible. All I'm saying is dont put too much stock into what happens in pre season., I've seen multiple web sites be led astray by a bunch of negative rhetoric put out by media, coach and team, then week 1 comes, the player plays and lights it up. its worth noting for sure, but not sure how much weight (if any) to place on it.

    Deuce Vaughn

unless hes starting or getting significant play as part of a time share, likely not much. but this is Pollards first year starting. while it is possible they will want him to lead a committee, he is still on the franchise tag. when you give a player that kind of money, it is usually a safe bet that player will get most (if not all) of the reps. to that end, I wouldnt draft him. but I would put him on my 'players to watch list' and if he shows something early you can grab him of the waiver wire.

    Pre-Season Action - Week 1

anyone catch this play the other day? https://touchdownwire.usatoday.com/2023/08/12/nathan-rourke-jaguars-touchdown-preseason/ for the record, when he played in the CFL I saw him make plays like this a number of times and at that time I said to myself: this guy is too good to be playing in the CFL. he belongs in the NFL. well, he has arrived. whether he makes good on his chance remains to be seen but I do think hes a player to watch if he should ever get a shot at starting.

its way too early to be drawing conclusions of this nature. there could be a lot of reasons why this is happening. 1) it could be a case where Penny has an undisclosed injury and this is the coaches way of keeping him fresh to prevent re injury 2) it could be they just want to get Gainwell more reps early in the year before we get to a point where things start to matter more 3) it could be a discipline thing 4) there are any number of other reasons and I'm not gonna get into all the possibilities as I dont wanna be here all day. I tend to shut down a lot of the noise of pre season. lots of times we only see what the team wants us to see, and its done that way for a reason. the only reliable things to garner in the offseason is: 1) if a team has invested heavily in dollars or draft capital, sooner or later that player nearly always gets a shot at the #1 job. 2) unless an injury is season ending, the team rarely reports it during pre season. they usually make something up to explain why the guy isnt playing. 3) coachspeak and depth charts during the offseason are often done to motovate the team. coach does not care if they are sending mixed messages to you and me, the fantasy footballers
