no argument there. I used to turn into that show and just mute it. just for the eye candy

I wouldnt necessarily blame Kyler. it takes time to develop a trust between a pass catcher and a QB. in key situations there are likely WR he knows what they will do on a certain play. thats why WR rarely blow up out of the gate. it usually takes a year or two. sometimes up to 3 years for that to happen. be patient. eventually it will be fine.

bottom line.... until we know how they put the stats together its tough to really get an idea of how this stat is in terms of a stat where we can use it to rank our WR. I suppose you could take WR who have roughly the same level of double coverage and compare them.... Then again he was a rookie. whatever these stats are, I have to believe there will be a year 2 improvement here. provided the weight gain doesnt slow him down.....

I feel like Trevor Lawrence is getting too much of a pass

Yeah, I'd probably take the over too (though it is close for me). the O lineman will help. the OL guy they drafted may or may not help this year. I have found first and second rounders are usually the ones who are most likely to make an immediate impact. 3rd-4th rounders(and later) often take a year or two. so I wouldnt count on much from the kid immediately. if he makes an impact it will likely be in the 2nd half of the season. Admittedly, there are always exceptions and I dont know if hes likely to be one. Either way, I wouldnt give up on Lawrence completely. not yet. hes still very young as a player. -

very good point. and this is something a lot of rookies struggle with. and probably an area where a good coach can make all the difference for the guy. (provided the player is coachable) -
his catch radius makes up for a lot. dont get me wrong. but if he could gain even a half yard more separation on average, his numbers would improve dramatically that said, part of his separation issues is because after the week 2 (or was it week 3?) explosion, he was double covered a LOT. I dont know how this plays into the separation stats, or if they just include cases where it was single coverage. It would make sense to throw out all the instances where he was double covered so they are comparing apples to apples when putting him up against other WR. and maybe a second stat for separation when double covered. to that end, as I dont know exactly how they come up with the metrics, I really dont know how valid this actually is.

yeah, that was not what he needed to do. he should have been working on speed and agility training. unless he actually wanted to be a TE......

you are right. but whether a person plays, 2, 3, or 4 years of college, if they are mismanaged you can ruin them all the same. I think younger players are more likely to have their development stunted if you dont handle them correctly. I do feel Jaxonville has not often put him into a position to be successful. and they certainly did not do a great job of surrounding him with good talent. they blew an incredible amount of money on Kirk as a WR but he was never more than mediocre before and after the signing. I think he may have had one 1000 yard season. certainly he did nothing to justify the stupid amount of cash they threw at him. they also blew a few draft picks which doesnt help. but the biggest blunder was the Urban Meyer Hiring. Im honestly surprised Lawrence is still a starter given the gong show that franchise was in his rookie year. Lots of prospects would have crashed and burned there. -

didnt he enter the draft early? that would explain a lot. and also explains why its likely wise for his team not to give up on him yet. hes young enough that there is still very significant upside for him. -
Brock Purdy, 49ers agree to 5-year, $265M deal

I think all of us would rather have jayden. but there was no way to get him for San fran. gotta keep the expectations realistic. -

Im surprised he hasnt been totally ruined. Mediocre WR's and bad coaching...... but he's resilient at least. and now he has a big money contract the team cant likely get out of, so hes locked in for a while. hopefully he figures things out at some point here. I'll say one thing.... the Organization hasnt done much to help him so far..... -
I love this guy. very underrated player. in terms of value for your draft capital I think there is a lot to like for fantasy.

makes sense. in that format its the QB that go early and often as starting QB hold so much value. Good luck sir. also FYI I am also in a 2 QB league. I fully get it.

Thats what the elite QB's get paid for. hes a cut below elite, but still a good starting QB. I dont love him as a player, but I also dont see a better alternative for San Fran. I think the deal is fair, and if they get/keep the right pieces in place around him I think he will be productive enough and the team has an outside shot at a superbowl. last couple years the biggest hindrance has been the relative health of the players around him. but then again, this has been a running theme in San Fran as they seem to have more injuries on average than most NFL teams in recent years. but that isnt Brocks fault and I wont go into that issue here. hes a bit of a system QB but thats not an issue so long as the coach remains and he stays on the team. I think hes his best version of himself in San Fran. I dont think he goes to another team and performs better. so this move was good for both sides and the money is at least in an acceptable range for both sides. -
These threads almost always go in a dumb direction. but it gives us something to talk about in the offseason so I'll allow it

Broadcasters overuse a lot of terms. lol dont get me started on that. but I'll agree with you on this. -

it can be occasionally a WR. usually a slot WR or TE but occasionally. when I think of a security blanket I think of a guy who wont drop a pass and who makes those critical 3rd and 4th down catches that are clutch. -

well, at least the deal wasnt FULLY guaranteed like some other stupid contracts out there. it makes him the 8th highest paid QB in the NFL but only a little over 3 years out of the 5 year contract are guaranteed. While I honestly dont know that any player is worth that kind of money, in the context of what other players are making.... its probably fair in terms of what the market for QB looks like I'd say hes a cut below the top tier of QB and the average of the #6 to the #10 ranked QB in terms of salary is almost bang on to what he is getting paid. He is fully in the range of where he should be. (give or take about 1 mil per year) -
I think thats something that has emerged in the last couple of years. He was fine up to that point. I do think he gets in the HOF.

mark andrews was described as a security blanket. so was Keenan Allen when he was in San Diego. LA (corrected) the guy who could supposedly get open in a phone booth. (I love that term) -
it only is something you can get away with if you are considered a franchise starting QB. if you are not going top 2 or top 3 overall, this strategy backfires horribly as Mr. Sanders just found out.

wow, thats a lot of coin -
not NFL money, but pretty significant still. he takes a bit of a pay cut as a rookie. but makes up for it once he finishes his rookie deal. personally, the decision to turn pro really should be about whether he needs an extra year to develop. I'm now seeing kids turning pro early only to find they are not ready. and I think at QB its more important to play. an extra year in college to prep for a pro career could be more valuable than sitting on the bench or playing on a bad team behind a leaky line. but that is not my call to make. but I think the Manning family has 2 good resources (Peyton and Eli) who likely know what is best for him. They know the QB position as much as any agent and can likely give a good evaluation that way.

I had heard that too. it may also depend on which teams are in line to draft him early. I suspect he will also want to avoid certain franchises which are a bit of a train wreck.
