that is the million dollar question isnt it?
-
if that was gonna be done it would have happened by now. (sorry)

Jerrah wont stand for it. if he starts pulling that crap, Jerrah will suspend him for conduct detrimental to the team for as long as the collective bargaining agreement allows him and after that he will let him sit. dude will ask for his release and Jerrah likely wont do it. he will just plant him on the bench and let him sit. after a full year of non production he will not be resigned. Jerry jones one of those guys who is nice to you while you are pulling your weight. but if you start problems he can be very petty that way. he wont be pushed around. anyone who tries will pay the price and he will make an example of them. this is not a good place to pull your Diva crap. Jerry will put up with a certain amount if you are producing at an ELITE level, but that guy only has so much goodwill in him. Anything less than elite performance and there is no give in that guy. so it will be interesting to follow. but maybe a guy like Pickens needs that kind of management. Some WR only behave like that because managment allows it. either way, its gonna be feast or famine with this guy. I'm personally still undecided, but I dont blame you if you have him on your DND list. Likely i'd hope he slides to a point where I can get him as a WR4. That seems like a spot where I dont mind taking the risk on the guy. I wouldnt draft him as one of my starters though.

yeah, the speed makes him an interesting prospect. but there are plenty of speedsters that dont seem to be able to cut it in the NFL. NFL loves the speed because of the home run ability. but the speed only matters once you get into the open field and it becomes a footrace. but if he figures out how to read the play, read his blocks and break into the open field, THEN he becomes VERY dangerous. lol Lets hope he can make things happen. Though Reids offenses are more complicated than a lot of NFL offenses. its not often a rookie comes into that offense and makes a lot of noise. so hes likely a better bet for next year after a year as a backup and special teams player. but you never know. an injury can sometimes change the timeline.
-
well, pacheco has an injury that has a slow recovery time. I dont even know why KC tried to bring him back last year. I knew he wouldnt be ready. He may even take a few games to get to a point where he is himself again this season. Hunt is on a team friendly deal. they will keep him for whatever role they have in mind for him. hes a good enough receiver, a good short yardage back and hes good enough that he can start in a pinch. Hes just not your ideal starting RB. Smith is likely a developmental project. He is fast. but needs some coaching. like you said, probably special teams. not sure what to make of Mitchell. I'm sure reid has some role in mind. if pacheco isnt fully healthy this is likely a committee to start the year.
-
possibly. He could do better. I'd argue that the floor is low and the ceiling is high with a player like this.
-
I do not disagree. playoff teams make a lot of money. and in that big stadium, Jerrah cant afford to have it empty.
-
you are likely onto something there. I definitely think one of the vets is on the bubble to some extent. but its too early to say for sure. I dont think they are happy with the way the run game has gone the last year or so. So It would not surprise me if change is on the way in some way, shape, or form.

there are always repercussions for tanking. The biggest one is you lose fans. if the fan base gets cheezed off and ticket sales slump, the team wont be making the money it was. Thats why retread first round picks stick around. Teams will bring them in and attempt to rehab them and at least give the impression they are trying to be competitive. I get a laugh when people ask why. I'm like..... team still has to sell tickets. if it looks like a last place team a lot of people wont buy. but if it looks like they will at least be competitive, people will buy even if they think the team may lose as many as it wins. but when the team bottoms out the fan base gets disillusioned.
-
true. But then again, you could say that about any QB drafted in almost any year. if they actually deserve to be a first round pick they will turn the fortunes of that team around quickly. This is a bit unique in the sense that when you say this about a guy not selected in round 1. But I think it can actually happen. Obviously there are no guarantees, but I like this kid a lot. in the old days when drop back, pocket passers were all the rage, a guy like this MIGHT have been a first round pick. I do think at some point the pendulum will swing and people will realize there is still a lot of value in the pocket passer. Not everyone can be Lamar Jackson or Jaylan Hurts. and for every Lamar, there are likely 2 or 3 Teebow or malik Willis types out there. The running QB who can actually throw and read a defense is not all that common. but if the team as a whole is solid from top to bottom, a pocket passer who can throw, read a defense and do a good job with their progressions can still get it done for you. I think some teams have forgotten this.
-
well, it feels like a fair plan. hopefully they stick to it. I dont mind giving the kid a cup of coffee late in the season (especialy if the line is performing) but we shall see.
-
its funny I looked at some tape of this kid and I can see why. hes not going to be a huge threat to run, though he does have the ability. biggest concern from what I can see is his ability to stay healthy. for that reason I think he will be exclusively an pocket passer because I wouldnt want to risk extra hits on a guy who already has injury issues. I'd also have him redshirt a year and focus on the O line. Pro football network has a pre season ranking of 24 out of 30 teams. to keep him healthy I think you need to have a line that is better than this. I'd say you want AT LEAST an average line but preferably better than average.
-
yeah, I know people Poo poo Javonte, but if you can get him as a RB4, I think he is good enough to deliver value there. especially if he somehow emerges as the starter in Dallas. (though I am somewhat skeptical....) either way, at that point in the draft your RB's are pretty close to waiver wire calibre so if you have to bail on him its no great hardship to your fantasy team if it doesnt work out. as an RB4 you dont need him to deliver RB2 numbers. you just maybe want a good insurance policy or streaming value to cover a bye week or an injury. I think hes still good enough for that if he emerges as a starter or committee RB in Dallas he can deliver value at that point in the draft.
-
hey just noting. I said superflex league. you start 2 QB. not the same dude.
-
certainly possible. but given Current production I think the team wont bend over backwards to make him happy at the cost of upsetting CeeDee. CeeDee produces at a level that you are willing to put up with whatever issues he has. That is not the case with Pickens. if they had to choose between the two Pickens would be out on his Azz. its a good opportunity for the guy. and the Cowboys seem to be able to make Diva WRs work sometimes. I also think its gonna be made very clear (if it hasnt been already) that he needs to know his place. CeeDee is the #1 dog here.
-
depends on the year and the format. in my superflex league he was a sought after player. I had him as my second QB the year he threw for 4800 yards. I won the league that year. I get that hes not been a top 10 QB most years. but look at the crappy WR's he had to work with most of his career. there are a lot of QB that would have went completely in the toilet stats wise with that motley crew. I'm not saying hes an allstar or deserves to be in the HOF. I'm saying he was a good starter. and a better real life QB than fantasy QB. he was among the leaders among active players in one key stat. 4th quarter comebacks. Thats a stat most teams wish their QB could pull off. either way, Thats all I gotta say about that.
-
I get it. Thats called being a good professional and a good leader. He didnt quit and ask to be traded to a contender like some...... my point is.... if he had been with a different team his career might have been more impressive. I dont know how many years he put up decent stats without a true #1 WR. there was one year all he had was a #1 TE and 3 WR who might be #3 WR on other teams. if the guy had been in a decent organization i have no doubt that the stats you are looking at for him would be far more impressive.
-
this has been the case his whole career. though maybe not to the degree we saw this last year. hes not a great short yardage guy. In real football (not fantasy) you need to pair him up with a short yardage specialist. for fantasy that means his TD numbers will be underwhelming but his yardage will be ok.
-
he was right up there in 4th quarter comebacks too. solid QB. and good when he needed to be. in the right situation he could have had a better career, but he was stuck with the Raiders.

I have found there are 2 things you NEED to get if you get a good shot at it. 1) Elite (top 6) RB 2) Elite (top 6)WR #2 and #3 WR are replaceable and if you are astute, you can get one in later rounds. but Elite WR and RB are irreplacable gamebreakers. when you get a shot at one, you take it. Admittedly it is rare to get more than one of the above on your roster, but it does happen. In the July Mock I got both Henry and Sequon at the turn in round 1. but the sacrafice was that I couldnt get an elite #1 WR. Though the way the draft fell, there wasnt (in my opinion) an Elite #1 WR available at that time(I was drafting at the turn) so I went Barkley and Henry. a Strategy that(last year at least) likely only would only work if drafting out of my slot. number 10 or 11 slot might have worked but I had my doubts either would last any longer if I didnt pick them then and there. I've also found that trading for RB once the season starts is very difficult. people are more willing to part with a WR than a RB. so to me that means I overvalue the RB position slightly.
-
I know thats the plan, but there is always the possibility something unforseen happens. as a rookie he could flop in camp and lose his job, he could get hurt, etc. there are no guarantees here. but I get where you are coming from. either way at that point in the draft I dont mind Jones. but hes not a RB I'd reach for given his age and situation.
-
agreed. though typically Divas still produce. this guy produced good numbers once. Last year was ok. if you pro rate based on games played he'd have been over 1000 yards. but its not like hes a TD beast or anything. hes a solid #2 WR with an attitude problem. though if he pulls that crap with Jerry he may find Jerry will make an example of him. lol. be fun to watch that play out I'm sure.
-
good post by the way. I like hall and cook if these are their ADP on draft day. I like Cook more than Hall. there is some risk associated with the change at QB but I also acknowledge they may be running the ball more to some extent that will even out but I still think the net will be a decrease in numbers. Jones also has significant risk as they likely are going with JJ as starter in Minny. I really like Harvey as an RB3 if you can get him for that price. ditto for Judkins Robinson is solid at RB31. there is very significant upside if Ekeler goes down and he has to play a full load. Javonte I also dont mind at the RB35. hes a guy who I'd take as one of the first RB4 off the board (I usually take my RB4 earlier than most) There is upside and he showed flashes last year but just not consistent enough. maybe hes done. but maybe he just needed more time to get his game back. at this price hes practically free. why not take the risk and see if you can capture that upside if he shows it.
-
cant argue with that. lol
