yeah I guess the full guarantee makes cousins a tougher contract to move. either way both contracts are not highly desireable. There is no question about that
-
hes one hit from being an invalid. I dont know that anyone takes that risk on the salary given that situation. I dont deny it could happen. I just dont think it highly likely. I've no doubt they will try. Cousins in his situation last year was a far lower risk(in my opinion) and there were no takers on his contract. I guess we will see.

ok I looked it up. 99 mil dead cap in 2026. the first year where his buyout is reasonable is 2027 where the dead cap hit is like 35 mil. so I think they need him to stay one more year.

true. this thread is about players you can pickup who will help you right now. presumably for a playoff run. in dynasty you can afford to play the long game. so the way you play in that format is completely different from the way you would play in a redraft format. not saying anyone here is right or wrong, but when complaring players you need to compare apples to apples. a good player in dynasty for your roster may not be a good player in redraft (and possibly vice versa depending on situation) -
yeah, while its possible one of the teams behind them goes on an unexpected win streak, the best pick I'd expect is somewhere in the #7 or #8 range but everything would need to go just right for that to play out. (it probably wont) but this kind of tank wont likely get them a new QB. in my opinion the move to make is to draft an O lineman. it will help the existing offense, and if they do have to move on from Tua, you will need the O line support for the new QB. also, if Tua can become productive behind a better line it will prolong his career some as he is prone to concussions as we all know. given the massive and stupid contract they gave Tua, I dont think its realistic to move on from him (yet) so getting the pieces in place for the Next QB would be a logical move right now.
-
I would say that close to half of the viable starters in the NFL are viable because they play behind a good O line. Andy Dalton was a good starter until the line went south. and once that line became subpar, so did Daltons stats. there are likely a lot of other examples and you and I have only touched on a few. it is only the truly elite QB's who can still perform behind a subpar line. and not many of those actually exist.
-
That is my thought as well. it is actually unusual for a QB to come in as a rookie and light the world on fire. it does happen, but its more common for a kid to take a year or two to get their NFL footing under them. to those who had the patience to hang onto him, congrats. the last few games hes shown some signs he can play against some pretty decent defenses. at this point I'd say there is an 80% chance that he will be a viable fantasy starter in the forseeable future.
-
there is only one stat that truly matters at this time of year. How many wins do you have. come playoff time its did you win the last game of the NFL season? (ie. did u win the superbowl) those are the most important stats. the rest only allow us to play fantasy football, but are not nearly as important

poor guy. on pace for his first ever 4000 yard season and then comes up gimpy. guy cant get a break
-
I'd rather go with Rivers than Newton and its not even close. for this game I'm predicting like 200- 220 yards and maybe a TD. personally I'd expect they would keep to the ground once inside the 5 yard line as Rivers may know the base offense but the red zone offense may be a different story.
-
yeah he had the one good game and then disappeared again.
-
Mahomes has been good for long enough that hes earned himself a little leniency. Caleb some are still questioning if he has what it takes to be a pro QB. personally I thought he had a solid performance against a good defense with bad weather. These are never fantasy shootouts. the fact he put up quasi reasonable numbers is (in my opinion) a positive. he kept his team in the game right up to that last drive. while he wasnt able to get that tying TD at the end, he was overall decent. he will learn from this. I've no doubt about that.

TNF Discussion: Falcons @ Buccaneers - Week 15
Ray_T replied to Mike FF Today's topic in FFToday Board
probably a fair assessment. though there were significant injuries last year too. but it felt like the WR were rotating in and out every week or two. hard to establish any continuity. in this respect this year may have been worse than last year for injuries and they way they affect the offense. not making excuses for the guy, but this is how it feels to me. right or wrong. but as a pro, you gotta find a way to rise above that. -
my big money league I am 9-5. good for second place. sadly I am kinda wishing I'd lost my last match. by winning I have a far harder first round matchup than I'd have had if I had lost. but hey, thats the way it goes sometimes.
-
supposedly with his workout with the team prior to signing the viewers were like.... he can still sling it. but obviously hes not in game shape. so there's that. not sure what else to say. I guess we will see how smart the move was soon enough. I wouldnt expect much this week even if he does play.
-
hes had some time to let his body rest and recover. I dont disagree, he did look a bit beat up. but his stats were good enough. your comment said he wasnt good when he last played. I showed the stats from his last season. they dont look all that bad. so I wasnt sure where that was coming from. if its just you saying he looked beat up. I guess Ill buy that. but statistically he was very solid. either way.... I kinda figured they were just hoping for someone who could hold the fort for a week or two util Richardson returned and who could mentor him a bit (as the kid appears to still need it) I dont know how close he is, but I hear hes doing some work with the team now. so I figure hes gotta be getting close. maybe a couple weeks away? anyhow, apparently Rivers is familiar with the offense. so he should be able to pick it up reasonably quickly. I think thats why he was signed. and given who is left in the QB room I think that may have been their best option if they just wanna 1 to 3 week starter. I'm not saying its a genius move but it does make some sense.
-
he is. but when he got hurt they said hed be back before the end of the season. we gotta be getting to that point sometime soon
-
I dunno his last year played he got 4169 yards passing in 16 games. 24 TD and 11 INT. all while completing 68% of his passes......I think that was decent enough.
-
I was wondering the very same thing. its like they just threw in the towel
-
well, generational talent only counts once he gets 'it'. he is learning. I am seeing some progress. Keep in mind he was playing against a very good D this week in substandard weather. I wasnt expecting a huge fantasy game. but the team was in it right up until the end. It ended with that INT. I dont mind those kind of INT. time was the enemy and they needed the TD to tie. while they could have done a short play, there is the risk the clock runs out, so might as well go for it and see what you can do. There are times where you just gotta take your best shot knowing if you make it you got something and if you miss you lose. but he will learn from this.
-
sure he does. but if you have a comparable option playing in a dome obviously you start the guy in the dome. bad weather has ruined many a fantasy games for people. I think his team has a better chance to win with the weather. but for fantasy, I'd at least knock a couple of points of his projected if the weather is actually bad. 20F isnt horrible but it is somewhat uncomfortable. to a point where WR will drop some passes they should catch etc. There will likely be one or two extra fumbles in the game. but if the wind isnt howling and if the snow/sleet isnt coming down voraciously it should be business as usual other than the aforementioned points
-
fully agreed. but maybe they have a plan to trade one of them. the fact hes signed to a contract might make him more attractive to some.
-
it is an occupational hazard when you use artificial turf. given how far south they are I'm surprised they dont actually have natural grass.
-
there will probably be more QB scrambles I suspect. it has been my experience that sleet isnt a big deal breaker. wind is worse. snow/sleet become an issue if it falls to an extent where you cannot see the numbers on the field.

I'm sure the contract situations will play a large part. chubba is signed 33 mil over 4 years. so if they want to go with Rico, they need to find someone who will take that contract. its not like they can just walk from a contract like that. it will cost them. so depending on what Rico is demanding, this may be about money when it comes time to re sign in the interim, while Rico has (on average) been better, Chubba is also the incumbent. some coaches firmly believe that a player shouldnt lose their job due to a short term injury so its not a given they hand it to Rico. from what I've seen it looks like they are making this into a competition of sorts. so both players are essentially fighting for this job. until the team is decided on who is the better player for them, this could very well be a committee. possibly for the rest of the season. I know a lot of you are wanting to hand this job to Rico based on the big games. but that is rarely the way these things work. you also dont see what goes on in practice and how the players get along with their teammates etc. so there is a bit more to it than JUST this. thats the takeaway. it may seem clear cut to a lot of us, but it may not be to them
