That is the million dollar question. I suspect this becomes more of a committee. for sure all carries that belonged to gus are now Harris's. I also suspect they use dobbins a little less in the hope that he doesnt get hurt. keeping in mind Vidal likely gets a little more use as he develops as a player. once again this will be a tough one to predict.
-
he is a good power runner. and behind a good line, I can see him doing well enough. might be bad news for Gus Edwards though.
-
maybe that's the play.

hang on a minute. Russell Wilson was his QB for the best statistical year of his career. Maybe he thinks he will be fine there. this may mean that Wilson stays in Pittsburgh. I know I saw a report suggesting they are moving on but fields just signed elsewhere. what else are they likely to do? maybe its just speculation on my part or maybe DK is only there because they promised to pay him. not sure.
-
well, I'd rather have DK than Pickens. maybe this means Pickens is on his way out.
-
maybe..... not sure. just glad its not my problem to solve.
-
I'm sure he cares. I honestly think it may be a case where he wants to be the #1 dog in the room. and if Smith Njigba overtakes him it would be tough for his ego to take. my guess is he sees this coming in the next year or two (signs already there) and wants to leave early before that scenario plays out.
-
well, I dont fault him for wanting the ball. most good players do want the ball in their hands. its the off field stuff that I dont like so much. for the most part he seems to be ok that way (or the seahawks have done a good job of hiding it)
-
obviously KC likes him. though 11 M seems to be the going rate now. top WR make in excess of 20 M now so I dont know how outrageous this is anymore. the salaries have moved so quickly that this may actually not be as bad as it seems.

Geno Smith traded to the Raiders for a 3rd Round pick

Smith had 3 good WR last year. DK, Locket and Smith-Njigba how many good WR do the raiders have? I predict a disaster. -
Deebo has been overrated for more than a couple of years. I had zero shares of him in any of my fantasy football teams the last 2 years. but he may actually be at a point where he could be undervalued now. I'm mostly pointing this out. I do not think Deebo was as good as his 1400 yard season suggested. but I also dont think hes as bad as what this last season has suggested. the reality is I think hes a WR2 for some team. Not an elite WR1. if I had to make a prediction in Washington I'd say 900-1000 yards receiving and about 100 yards rushing. which probably makes him a low end WR2 or high end WR3 depending on TD. if he slides into WR3 territory in any draft I'd consider buying. and from what I have seen, there is a chance that can happen.
-
well, when it comes time to pay a player, you need to look in the mirror and ask yourself if that player will help you win a championship if he stays. I think this team is a good couple years away from being highly competitive again, so if they can unload him and obtain a good asset or two now is the time. whoever buys has him for 1 more year and they can worry about signing a big extension. I would hope it would be a football trade where they get players who address a need on the team rather than a draft pick deal. but that's not likely the way it will work

let me ask you a question, do you think San Fran will be another 7 win team next year? or do you think this is a one off? I think San fran wins at least 10 next year and most of the players who saw a dip will see a statistical rebound of sorts. There were a lot of things not working in that offense. The O line was one of them. they were not as good in pass pro and the players who played wide (aiyuk and deebo) had the worst results. your slot receivers and TEs did ok. what does that tell you? it tells me the QB isnt having enough time to hit the deeper throws. I dont think this is a team that will let this situation persist into next season. So yeah I will throw out the stats. you can sell on all your 49er players if you want. personally I'm buying on Pearsall as I think hes ready to make a jump with Deebo gone. Whether he has a 1000 yard season remains to be seen but I'm guessing hes good for at least 750-800.
-
Id honestly throw all of last years stats out the window. the whole team in San Fran performed poorly and they had a ton of injuries which likely contributed to this. but I guess you could look at this as another reason to reduce his usage in this manner, but the reality is.... its a different offense so the way a player gets used there would never be exactly the same as the way hes been used in another offense. This is why when a player switches teams the floor usually goes lower and the ceiling can sometimes be higher. as fantasy owners, you rarely know for sure where exactly the player will land within that range. but I do think given Deebos wishes that he expressed loudly when negotiating his last contract, he didnt want to be used running the ball as much. so I think there is a decent chance Washington will adhere to his wishes in that regard. while I wouldnt expect Washington to completely remove the WR runs from their playbook, I would expect them to be more selective about when they will pull a Deebo Run play out of their bag of tricks.

well, regardless of who is the RB2 in Philly, they should be taken as an RB4 as a handcuff by the barkley owner. I dont think they have any substantial value to anyone other than the Barkley owner. good handcuff value. Thats about it. If I dont have Barkley on my team I'm not really interested in either of them otherwise as I dont think they will return any value while Barkley is healthy.
-
That may be a sign that Shipley is ready to take over RB2 duties. we shall see. Barkley is a talented pass catching back so there is more PPR upside in him than what we saw last year. as a rookie he got 91 catches for 721 receiving yards and 438 in year 2. then for some reason New York went away from using him in the pass game but I dont think that skillset disappeared.
-
that O line is killer. if Barkley goes down whoever goes in will put up RB2 numbers. in this scenario, thats about as good as it gets.
-
this may be true, but there is no guarantee that he will continue to be used in this manner. This is a different offense. ONe of Deebos issues when his last contract was up for negotiation is he didnt want to be used in this way. so it may be reasonable to expect less use in this manner. I dont think you ever remove an effective tool out of the toolbox but maybe you use it a little less to keep the wear and tear down and to keep the player happy.
-
you could be right. we likely wont find out for sure until training camp is over or at the latest.... week 1 I do agree Shipley has more upside. but I've seen situations where the veteran holds of the kid for the lead backup role (or the starting role) and its tough to get in the head of the coaches. The good news is.... we dont have to make a call on this right now. as more info comes available we can make a better decision. the one thing I would make clear.... whoever is the RB2 in Philly should be your handcuff RB4 if you own Barkley.

interesting plan. I especially like the trading back to acquire extra assets part. my opinion is this team has way too many holes in the lineup to fill. So trading back to get extra picks (especially if those extra picks are in the top 3 rounds) is key. I think the team Still has a minimum of 2 years of rebuilding but this will stockpile some players. With Belichek gone I dont know how the player development would have changed but that needs to be the focus with such a young team overall. There is a cap on salaries but not a cap on coaches/player development type people, so if running a budget team this is where you spend and dont be cheap about it. Develop those young players and make them pros.
-
Skins have 2 starting calibre RB. I suppose if an elite one falls into their lap they can take him in the draft, but this is not something that is on fire. The defense is on fire. They should be addressing this in the draft. This is their #1 need.

I get it. part of the problem has been health, but thats been a San Fran problem off and on for a few years. it is possible that removing him from San Fran may eliminate exposure to whatever it is that seems to be causing the 9'ers to have so many injuries. but he is in a contract year, so I'd expect him to perform. if he doesnt perform this year, he will likely not be given an extension. what drives me nuts is when teams sign a player going into the final year. they are depriving themselves of that boost that usually comes in a contract year Either way, I dont love what he delivered relative to his salary but last year was a bit of a dogs breakfast for the whole team. Deebo was not the only 49'er to have a bad year. I think if he can stay healthy he is probably a 1000 yard WR. but I dont know that he ever touches that high watermark year where he got 1400 yards receiving and like 2-300 yards rushing. That is probably a thing of the past.
-
it was a good move for San Fran because they did not have to retain any of his salary. thats why the price was so cheap. when I heard he was on the block I assumed there would be some salary retention to get a better draft pick.... but nope. not the case. but hes a significant cap hit for Washington.
-
honestly it seems like every other year San Fran is riddled with injuries. I think its either the field or something in the way they train. I do know that WR are counted on to block a lot more in this system than they do on other teams. but I dont think thats it. The whole team seems to be riddled with injuries and its been happening off and on for a number of years now. its to a point where I'm convinced there is something in San Fran that is leading to more injuries there. Another point is that I truly believe that there were too many mouths to feed in that offense. when fully healthy CMC is the focus and Aiyuk and Kittle were the next 2 big mouths. not leaving a ton for Deebo. granted CMC was hurt but it feels like deebo was too. seems like he misses a couple games each year to injury. Either way he hasnt been the same player since CMC arrived and I dont think that's by mistake. I can see a rebound of sorts in Washington. I dont know that he will be the top dog in that offense, but I can see him having a decent enough season there (assuming good health)

Thats clearly the area that needed improvement. but this move allows them to focus more on the D at the draft. an O line guy might be nice too but I dont know that that is as urgent as the D
