MNF Discussion: Jaguars @ Bills - Week 3

yeah, thats the advantage of having a physical WR. they dont let that sort of thing happen to them

    Charbonnet and Walker

Well, when I watched , it is clear that there are things Walker does that Charbonnet does not. (at least not yet) so I think Walker is still the lead dog and I dont think that situation changes. (at least not this year) granted i've been wrong on this sort of thing before but I just have not seen anything in Charbs game that screams at me that hes special. hes good but not excellent

    Players you can drop

I'd agree. I've been targetting him late in drafts and that is finally starting to pay some dividends. first game was rough, but after that hes looked pretty good. in fact, hes looked at times like he may actually be the #1 WR in that offense. I dont think this is a long term situation. London is the long term play, but he hasnt established that connection with Cousins just yet. when he does, it will be scary. But I was pretty sure Mooney would be good there. Cousins actually had a hand in recruiting him. HE wanted him there. so I knew he would likely perform well early. obviously Cousins saw something in his game that he (as a QB) likes so I figured an early connection may happen there. But I still think London is the guy to own there, you just need to be patient

    Carolina Panthers

yeah they did look good today. with a veteran QB. maybe hes not the type of coach that's good with a young QB. Dalton looked pretty good in there though.
  5. this is 100% true. I am more injury averse than many so I discount for that perhaps more than a lot of other people, but in the end I have less of this kind of thing to deal with. I dont mind the tradeoff.

    Players you can drop

well, I am going to say something I have said many times. the RB's production largely depends on how the team is doing. if the team is winning, that RB will get all kinds of late game garbage time carries. to be blunt, the Cowboys have not been winning. to make the situation worse, The line has grossly underperformed and they are very vulnerable to runs up the middle as a defense. and that kills the clock as well. so the number of total plays from scrimage drops significantly if you can successfully run on a team for a nice long drive. the Boys are (at least in part) a victim of their own poor run defense. Lets put it this way, if you are giving up over 150 yards per game on the ground, your chances of winning are not very good and usually your run game disappears by halftime (or shortly thereafter) Zeke has value in a matchup where the Boys expect to get the early lead. then they will just give them lots of Zeke on some power runs. Though now, this Dallas line which has been good for so long is starting to show its age a bit. They have not been great either. so its dicey. I dont know that I'd drop Zeke yet. but hes not a starter. hes a matchup play.

SNF Discussion: Chiefs at Falcons - Week 3

yeah, I saw, he ran to the right on most of those before going down in almost a slide. not a true kneel down. so because of that they considered it a rush attempt. am I right?

SNF Discussion: Chiefs at Falcons - Week 3

its funny. when they avoided that FG and did the 4th down gamble that succeeded, I looked at the clock and there was almost 7 minutes on it. I figured a FG and then a very good chance they get the ball back with some time on the clock. but I get that its the Chiefs, but still. The defense was actually doing a mostly decent job of keeping the Chiefs offense on the sidelines. at some point you gotta trust the D to get it done. if they had scored, they'd still have to trust the D to get it done anyways, so why not take the points and make it a 3 point game?

    Anthony Richardson

well, he knows how to run a pro offense. with some luck the kid was paying attention and not pouting. he could learn from the experience if hes that way inclined.

    Anthony Richardson

maybe. I think Flacco or Dalton would have been better. but once you throw that kind of cash out you are more or less committed to that player until the GM gets fired for that signing.

    MCL Injury for Jordan Love

no surprise here. they won last week so the pressure to have him come back early is not there like it would have been with a loss. either way, thanks for the confirmation.

Week 3 WR Scoop and Play

thanks. the Scoop and play thread used to be a staple on this board in past years. I kinda miss it.
  14. yeah, a lot of us knew the WR could play though. nobody was trying to unload Manning when he was suddenly dropped in there at QB. There was no question at the time whether Manning would perform. and those WR were highly sought after once it was announced manning would be there. usually those in the know have an idea of who can play and who cant. Thomas and Decker were beating coverage fairly consistently with Teebow at QB. but the throw would miss them by a mile. Thats perhaps a very extreme comparison. not entirely fair. Lawrence isnt entirely without weapons. he just doesnt have a true #1 WR. say what you will about kirk, but he is at least a viable WR. he is just not a #1 WR. Engram is good but hes no Kelce. he cant take an offense on his back and step it up a level like he did in his prime. A true #1 WR would turn a 4000 yard QB like him into a 4500 yard QB. if he gets one, he may yet turn into a top QB. so I'm waiting and watching. Not drafting him at this point unless the value is there. Almost got him as my #2 QB in my superflex league this year but ended up going a different direction as I was outbid at the auction.

    Alec Pierce

strongest arm. yes. most accurate? not sure. though I will say that one TD throw was a thing of beauty. Probably the best throw I've ever seen him make. if he can do that consistently that's a game changer.
  16. 100% true. but hes also not 100% to blame for the situation either. they threw an absolutely stupid amount of money at Kirk and brought him over to be their #1 WR. everyone on this board knew he wasnt a #1 WR. Hes still not. I do think there is more upside here, but only if he has good personell around him. Kirk isnt a #1. hes a #2 on most normal teams. I lay this at the feet of management. and I think a lot of other people do too. This may also be why hes gotten a bit of a pass.

    J. Reed Rest of the way

agreed. he still needs to develop his game a bit but hes close. At this point I'd say its safe to say he will be a player. what we dont know is exactly how high that ceiling actually is. but in week 1 he was ELECTRIC. The most exciting guy on the field. and as he gains experience, and improves his connection with Love, this will only get better.
  18. Ray_T

    Anthony Richardson

truth. I remember when Tim Teebow was a thing. top notch fantasy QB but terrible actual QB.
  19. I think its a case where nobody around here paid a high pick for Lawrence. hes a guy that the original guy who drafted him pulled the chute and whoever is buying him now knows they are getting a low end QB1 or a high end QB2. hes a significant player in my superflex league but any league that starts 1 QB, hes either your backup or a 1a or 1B if you are going with dualing QB's

    What's happening with Kelce?

this. this is the time of year when the team tries to give some of the young players a bigger opportunity. They know Kelce wont be there in future years. they are trying not to be dependant on him. when the chips are down Kelce will be there, but its also a case where kelce may not be the player he was too.

TNF Discussion: Patriots at Jets - Wk3

Ray Davis actually looked good last game, but given where he is on the depth chart I dont know that it can last. he needs to move up the depth chart. tough place to work that.

if your 4th round rookie is playing and getting significant play, thats a good thing isnt it?
  25. agreed. he did show a little in this last game. Just enough to make me think maybe better days are ahead. but I wouldnt hold my breath. hes been bad for a while here.
