you are also looking at an all star QB who never gets hurt tossing them the ball. This is one of the few situations where I'd consider doing this. you were essentially tying your fate to that of one of the most potent offenses in NFL history. Not a bad gamble really.

Two WR's from the same team only causes problems. 1) bye weeks are all the same and typically most leagues start 2 or 3 WR meaning a roster containing 4 or 5 WR's is typical. with two WR's from the same team that makes it a whole lot harder to cover bye weeks for that position. AND you dont want any of your other WR to have the same bye week. 2) the WR position is not the most stable for fantasy points. your WR can have a bad game because they played poorly, or because the QB played poorly. Two ways to have low scores. now add a second WR from the same team. Assuming you are starting both, you set yourself up for an awful lot of risk. Yes, the rewards can be double if you face a weak team or weak Defense, but this is only a strategy I'd employ in exceptional cases. for me, that's a QB who is expected to throw for 4700+ yards. Not many QB's fit into that category. as for the other option, if you have a RB and WR from the same team, you dont open yourself up to quite the same problems. the bye week problem isnt so bad because its one slot for each position. That's doable. and typically (but not always) a poor game from the WR does not always mean a poor game for the Rb and vice versa. you still are tying your fate to that of the team as a whole to some degree, but not as badly as taking two WR from the same team.
  3. I also like Crowell in the 8th. It is tempting to take brady due to the 6 point pass TD but his age (40) scares me a bit. If you keep brady, you are going for the money one more time. If you keep Crowell, you are planning for your future.

    Keeper Help

I think we need to know all the rules While Gurley is your Best RB, if you threw him back in the draft, you may be able to pick him up for a lower price than it would take to keep him. this seems to apply to a lot of your roster. but your decision to keep anyone really should be whether you are likely to get him back for the draft pick you need to give up to keep him. If you think You would be able to get that player back with that pick, you shouldnt be keeping him. West may be a relative bargain for a 10 th round pick. he will be starting and the competition for his carries got hurt in preseason. Based on this, I'd consider keeping him. Justin Tucker in the 14th may also be a relative bargain. Then again....you could easily make a case for keeping neither player. personally, I think a 10th round pick for a RB who will start for his team (west) shouldn't hurt you. I think that's what I'd do if I had your team.

So wat is everyone really doing with Zeke?

Well, this guy will be around during the fantasy playoffs (the most important time) If you manage to grab one of the top 3 early in round 1 and Zeke is sitting there in round 2, how do you not pick him? could you imagine having both Zeke and David johnson in your lineup? in theory, this guy should never drop into round 3 of any redraft.

Darren McFadden. ran for about 1000 yards in 10 or 12 games (I forget which) the year before they drafted Zeke. he's the guy who will carry the mail while zeke is out and I think he will do just fine.
  7. I wasnt suggesting dropping perkins and I dont think norcal was suggesting he wanted to. I'm suggesting that with him and spending the first 2 draft picks on RB's he would have the RB situation sorted for the future even if one of the three RB's turns out to be a bust. make no mistake here, this is likely a 2 year rebuild unless all the moves made this season comes up roses.

So wat is everyone really doing with Zeke?

honestly, If I could pick up DMC on the cheap, I'd probably buy into Zeke still. in a keeper league I'd be trying to pry him out of the hands of a disgruntled owner. Not sure what to offer, but I think if you offered someone like Melvin Gordon, there would be takers in some leagues.

true. there are some years I spend a lot less time on it, but you dont truly retire if you love it.

    Preseason Week 1 Observations

i only saw a couple plays. but he looked good to me.

Is it just me or does Julio Jones worry you?

this. He's a guy who gets you fantasy points from mega yardage. Not from TD. You could get TY Hilton for less cash and get almost the same result because he's also a yardage player who does not score TD's. I acknowledge TY hilton isnt as good, and wont get as many fantasy points, but you will get him a lot cheaper and relative to the price you pay for him, he will give you a better result.
  12. well, just like a QB has what they call throwing mechanics, a kicker has kicking mechanics. I'm technical enough to know that you generally want to plant your foot in a certain spot and go through a specific motion. I dont know that that was his problem, but quite often with kickers, it is. the other part is mental (or psychological) so maybe getting him a sports psychologist would help him. with kickers, it's usually one or the other or some combination of both.

    Dynasty trade evaluate

He caught lightning in a bottle early last season leading me to believe he does have a high ceiling if he can recapture that form He's young enough that it can happen. but like I said, it is quite possible that the draft pick will be the most valuable piece of this deal. That's not saying much about either player.
  14. Yeah, the college stats suggested he'd be a great NFL kicker. I dont know why someone wouldnt consider bringing in a top coach to get him back on track. a little confidence would likely do some wonders for the kid.

    Sammy Watkins Traded to Rams

well, I suspect his ADP will drop. the only question for me is whether it drops far enough to make me want to draft him.
  16. the general rule is that RB's are more likely to have an immediate impact than WR's. That's not always true, but it seems to be the trend. and there are 5-6 RB's that I can see being long time starters in this league. My thought was if you kept perkins, traded into round 1 and drafted two RB's, yoiu will have 3 RB's. one of them will probably flame out (as is the way with rookies and young, unproven players like Perkins) and the other two will be the cornerstone of your franchise for the better part of the next decade. but you can probably get one of those backs in round 2. I just dont think Mixon will drop that far. but it is possbile because some will not draft him due to the off field issues. That being said, I wouldnt trade down in round 2. I'd trade up if I could, but not down.

    Sammy Watkins Traded to Rams

That was also part of the problem last year too. In a different division we'd be having a completely different conversation with completely different expectations.

    Sammy Watkins Traded to Rams

Agreed. They wont be as bad, but they have enough holes in that line that one addition wont solve many of the problems. They will still be in the lower half of the run blocking lines in the NFL. I agree Gurley will be better. The better coach with a better scheme will help him. but I'm not sure I want him as my #1 RB. He's a solid RB2 until Goff shows teams they need to fear the pass. Until that happens, teams will stack the box and beat up that subpar line to Stuff Gurley.
  19. you know, I was just thinking, This is a great draft for rookie RB's and you need RB's in a bad way. is there any chance you could trade away Devante Adams and a second round pick to get into the first round of the draft? you could grab both Fournette and Mixon and your RB's would be set for a long time if they both pan out. You could then trade down in round 3 to get Benjamin to replace Devante Adams. That would also solve your keeper problem as well.
  20. Moving back 5 slots in each of round 2 & 3 seems like a reasonable price to pay for Bryant and Benjamin. Adams for Watkins.- it's a very risky deal due to Watkins injury history. He's clearly the better and more talented player, but you may not see that in the stats for another year or two. so if you want immediate results, I dont like the deal. and if Watkins gets hurt again, we are looking at the possibility that he may never achieve his potential. but the real problem here is that you cannot make all of these deals. You can make one. Maybe 2. now your team is not highly competitive. There is potential there, but you dont have the talent you need to win this year. At RB I would think you will keep Perkins and you will keep Wilson at QB (or possibly dump him and grab one in the draft) I dont see you keeping Fat Rob or Latavius Murray or Jeremy Hill. (if you want to, you should rethink that) so you have 3 more keepers. At WR (assuming no trade made at all) I'd keep Parker, Doctson, and Devante Adams. The reason I'd keep Doctson, is that he is young, and if you wanna rebuild, you want to do so with young up and coming studs, and I do think Doctson will be one eventually. now if you dont want to wait, he is the logical one to dump because he may not break out for a full year. it may happen sooner, but I'd say the odds are against it. (maybe a 25% chance of a breakout year this season) if you decide to dump Doctson, I'd take the Bryant deal. I also like the benjamin deal, but we dont know where Newtons health is at, so that is risky as well. if you want to make both deals, you need to dump Russel Wilson. depending on what QB's you expect to be available, it may not be a terrible move, but that's more of a know your league thing. You may be able to get him (or someone comparable in terms of fanatsy points) in the second round. I am going on the assumption you are getting a RB in round 1. If you aren't you should be. If Perkins is your Best RB that's not a good situation to be in. He will be a solid #2 RB, but I wouldnt want him as my #1. and you should be able to get your future #1 RB in this draft.

++ Update: Zeke looking at suspension - 6 Games

I believe the police need to prove beyond a reasonable doubt that he did it. to qualify for a civil lawsuit (and likely an NFL suspension) you just need to cross the 50-50 threshold. so if it appears that he did it more likely than not but you cannot prove beyond a reasonable doubt that he did it, then no charges are laid, but a civil lawsuit can be done. I suspect suspensions are supposed to work the same way, but in reality Goodell does what he wants and this keeps the NFL in the news, so it's to his advantage to do it regardless of the facts.

1 Keeper and 2nd pick advice

There is something to be said for that. in theory, if you dont care which one you end up with, you could pull a trade for someone who is wanting Freeman, move back one or two slots in the draft and then take Ajayi at that point, but you have to have a good idea of who will be taken in between.

    Sammy Watkins Traded to Rams

are you suggesting that the line here is better? Cuz I dont think it is.
  24. Ray_T

    Sammy Watkins Traded to Rams

well, one of my leagues starts 2 QB, and now I think I'll target Goff as my #3 QB. I think the price will be cheap, and he has a legit #1 Wr (even if he cant stay healthy) Keep in mind, in 2 QB leagues all starters and top backups are all rostered. He still wont be capable of much more than bye week or injury starts in this format unless he takes a step forward. but a healthy Watkins improves his chances of making that step forward (in my opinion)

never mind this post. Bills just acquired Jordan Matthews from the Eagles.
