Dynasty: Malik Nabers is better than Marvin Harrison Jr
Ray_T replied to nobody's topic in FFToday Board
I'd say Winston is maybe an extreme example but Yeah I get what you are saying. -
Barkley is a good candidate. for me its about the combination of his talent and the line in front of him. if the line remains intact, he will have another very very good season.
-
Henry can Still play. we can see that. With players like him when they get to this age, its mostly about whether they can stay healthy. its still hard as hell to tackle him. and his game was never about speed. Not really. Its been about Power. and that part of his game is still fine and will be for a while if he still plays. with a guy like him it will be a nasty injury of sorts that will finish him off. so its really about whether he can stay healthy.
-
They said the same thing about Henry early in his career. Because he didnt win the starting job outright as a rookie. I dont think hes been bad. I just think its a case where they have another RB who is really good so they arent running him into the ground yet. honestly its better for the team. Just not better for your fantasy roster. and one thing people always need to keep in mind is that teams will act in their own interests..... and that will sometimes clash with your interests as a fantasy owner.

Dynasty: Malik Nabers is better than Marvin Harrison Jr

I wouldnt say hes garbage, but hes has not shown he deserves the money they are gonna be paying him. Garbage would imply he doesnt belong as a starter at the NFL level. I think hes better than that. but hes not the elite player he was supposed to be and the Jags paid for a star calibre QB and for the most part, Lawrence has not delivered on his end. There are reasons for this and not all are his fault but to some degree the organization has not done a very good job of putting him in a position to be successful either. To be clear, I'm not fully defending the guy. he has to take some of the responsibility too. But (like with Daniel Jones) The team didnt exactly help by putting him in a position to succeed either. -
for sure, the right call for the team. though the fans will, no doubt be disappointed. I will go on record to say this shows what the difference is between a good O line and a bad one. Look at Barkleys performance in New York the last couple of years and compare to what hes done in Philly. I dont want to Criticize the New York Giants organization, but they had an A grade talent and were unable to make the most of it.

you guys should see if you can get the league its own thread in the geek league section. I think the Axe (if he were to come back for one day) would have liked that. though I must say, he was a Chiefs fan, by this point in the season, hed be on us about how great his team is (and for good reason.... the team has been very good) so if you want to honor him, I guess if your team is out, you can cheer for the chiefs in his stead.

dont worry some stats nerds will keep track of all that. we will have the 16 game record and a 17 game record. and if they ever go to an 18 game season, they will have an 18 game record.
-
honestly if its a lateral, williams should not be getting credit for a catch. Technically thats a run. yardage and TD should be all he gets for scoring. it is interesting seeing some of these plays coming from the CFL playbook and making their way into the NFL. Fun play to watch.
-
I dont think they are happy. but they have no choice in the matter. They are stuck with each other due to that fully guaranteed contract.
-
its good for the fans, but likely unwise for the team to give him more than a light workout. but hes only 101 yards away and if he plays, that would likely be one of the higher rated football games of the year. I think the NFL would want him to play and may even pressure the Iggles to play him. he doenst have to get the record. it just needs to be close so people will stay tuned in to the TV. I think I'd probably let him go for the record. but if it gets to a point where its clear hes not getting it I'd yank him quickly.
-
yeah, but its situational. Dobbins was only out a couple weeks. Pacheco was out most of the season. so Pacheco was nowhere close to being in game shape. Dobbins likely was still in decent shape when he returned. thats actually a big deal when projecting your players totals in the first game back from an injury.

agreed. good chat.

100% true. and this makes it harder to fairly evaluate their QB because its not often that the QB has to perform with a pass rusher in their face. to that end, it becomes hard for the QB to live up to that hype when they move to the pro level. keep in mind, this isnt the fault of the QB. all you can do is give him credit for performing in a situation where they outclass their opponent. you can project what they do when the opponent plays at a higher level, but how many opponents had a D line that is even capable of pushing around the Bama O line? and how often did it actually happen? I suspect the answer to the first question is 1 or 2 (maybe 3). the answer to the second one is likely 1 or zero (in terms of whole games)

Christmas Football: Ravens @ Texans - Week 17

yeah, if you started Henry in the same game, his production makes up for an awful lot. Either way, usually with kickers(and RB) , they usually score reasonably well if they are on the winning team. Not so well if they are on the losing team. interesting stat about Baltimore though. Though I'd like to see which teams lit them up. I suspect with kickers vs Baltimore its feast or famine and if we look at the week by week stats, I'm betting thats what you see. correction, just looked it up on fftoday.... Kicker: 2024 FF Points Allowed, Regular Season - FF Today they are tied for 12th,.... so mediocre. but still there were a couple big games against. the 18-16 loss to Pittsburgh where the Steel got 6 FG and no TD. and I get it. if the red zone D is keeping teams from getting in the end zone, you will give up more FG in games like this. but it does seem to be feast or famine if you look at the game by game stats. -
quite possibly true. this isnt the first time I've heard stuff said like that bout the way they run the team there. for the record, I never make my judgement based on that. I am a big believer that a college QB requires a different skillset than a pro QB. Some college QB's who are a tier down from the top college QB make better pros. and some players look good in a certain offense and different (sometimes bad) in a different one. where I live it is not easy to follow us college ball to the extent that you likely watch it. I dont have any favourite college team so I dont have any bias in that respect. my decision in this issue is 100% based on what I have seen of these two players as pros. I'm also going to say it is likely still too early to tell for sure either way. Some QB take longer to come into their own at the pro level and sometimes being stuck with a bad coach can be enough to stop the player from developing as he should at the pro level. It is not too late for Bryce young to turn things around but he is likely running out of time. If he doesnt do anything next year, hes likely done as a starter at the NFL level. Its not even a guarantee that Carolina keeps him around next year. (though from what I have seen, it may actually be better for Bryce to be in a different organization next year. I dont believe Carolina gave him a good chance to be successful. I could go into this more, but I dont think I need to at this point. the debate is who was the best QB from that class. I think if I had to pick someone I'd take Stroud. Richardson may still have a higher ceiling, and still has a chance to come around as a pro level QB but in terms of what I like to see at the NFL level I'd still take Stroud.

Christmas Football: Ravens @ Texans - Week 17

No offense, but I dont know that I'd have started a kicker against Baltimore. They have been shutting down a lot of teams and the offense just kills the clock by running the football. Baltimore beats teams on the Line of scrimage. both the O line and the D line are very very good. Not an ideal recipe for a lot of points if you are on the other side of this. I have to think there would have been better options on the wire this week. -
I think Stroud has still been the better QB this year. his throws are on target a whole lot more often than Youngs have been. Sure Stroud has had some struggles given there have been points this season where none of his starting WR were healthy, but if I was to build a team around a QB and those two were my only choices I'd take Stroud every time.
-
I think at this point that would be pushing it. In my mind, its not even a given that hes good enough to be a career starter at the NFL level. Stroud at least looks like a legit starter despite his tough 2nd year as a pro starter.

Christmas Football: Ravens @ Texans - Week 17
Ray_T replied to Mike FF Today's topic in FFToday Board
Yeah this has been a bad trend in football. there are times when it makes sense to try for more, but sometimes its also about momentum. and taking the guaranteed points at least keeps the arrow pointed the way you want it. but a failure can result in a momentum shift. especially if the other team then puts up points off of that turnover on downs. the decision to gamble should be based on more than just the stats. you gotta take things like this into account and I feel that at times there is a serious lack of accounting for other factors. -
Are you guys approaching the Christmas games with caution?
Ray_T replied to nobody's topic in FFToday Board
This time of year, you should always approach with some caution. there are now some playoff teams that literally have nothing to play for. so when looking at matchups I try to pick players on teams that have games that matter. When the result does not matter, there is always the risk that the team tries an unorthodox game plan to test out a few new plays. Try to throw the scouts watching them off the scent of what they will do come playoff time. lots of games within the game. these are the scenarios to avoid if you can. -

wow, the minute I opened my yap to say this, the Texans stuff Henry for a safety after a real nice special teams kick
