    Saquon Barkley

I love this guy. very underrated player. in terms of value for your draft capital I think there is a lot to like for fantasy.

    Saquon Barkley

makes sense. in that format its the QB that go early and often as starting QB hold so much value. Good luck sir. also FYI I am also in a 2 QB league. I fully get it.
  3. but apparently all of them are clutch!

Brock Purdy, 49ers agree to 5-year, $265M deal

Thats what the elite QB's get paid for. hes a cut below elite, but still a good starting QB. I dont love him as a player, but I also dont see a better alternative for San Fran. I think the deal is fair, and if they get/keep the right pieces in place around him I think he will be productive enough and the team has an outside shot at a superbowl. last couple years the biggest hindrance has been the relative health of the players around him. but then again, this has been a running theme in San Fran as they seem to have more injuries on average than most NFL teams in recent years. but that isnt Brocks fault and I wont go into that issue here. hes a bit of a system QB but thats not an issue so long as the coach remains and he stays on the team. I think hes his best version of himself in San Fran. I dont think he goes to another team and performs better. so this move was good for both sides and the money is at least in an acceptable range for both sides.

    Is Aaron Rodgers a Hall-of-Famer?

These threads almost always go in a dumb direction. but it gives us something to talk about in the offseason so I'll allow it
  6. Broadcasters overuse a lot of terms. lol dont get me started on that. but I'll agree with you on this.
  7. it can be occasionally a WR. usually a slot WR or TE but occasionally. when I think of a security blanket I think of a guy who wont drop a pass and who makes those critical 3rd and 4th down catches that are clutch.

Brock Purdy, 49ers agree to 5-year, $265M deal

well, at least the deal wasnt FULLY guaranteed like some other stupid contracts out there. it makes him the 8th highest paid QB in the NFL but only a little over 3 years out of the 5 year contract are guaranteed. While I honestly dont know that any player is worth that kind of money, in the context of what other players are making.... its probably fair in terms of what the market for QB looks like I'd say hes a cut below the top tier of QB and the average of the #6 to the #10 ranked QB in terms of salary is almost bang on to what he is getting paid. He is fully in the range of where he should be. (give or take about 1 mil per year)

    Is Aaron Rodgers a Hall-of-Famer?

I think thats something that has emerged in the last couple of years. He was fine up to that point. I do think he gets in the HOF.
  10. mark andrews was described as a security blanket. so was Keenan Allen when he was in San Diego. LA (corrected) the guy who could supposedly get open in a phone booth. (I love that term)

    Derek Carr Decides to Retire

it only is something you can get away with if you are considered a franchise starting QB. if you are not going top 2 or top 3 overall, this strategy backfires horribly as Mr. Sanders just found out.

    Derek Carr Decides to Retire

not NFL money, but pretty significant still. he takes a bit of a pay cut as a rookie. but makes up for it once he finishes his rookie deal. personally, the decision to turn pro really should be about whether he needs an extra year to develop. I'm now seeing kids turning pro early only to find they are not ready. and I think at QB its more important to play. an extra year in college to prep for a pro career could be more valuable than sitting on the bench or playing on a bad team behind a leaky line. but that is not my call to make. but I think the Manning family has 2 good resources (Peyton and Eli) who likely know what is best for him. They know the QB position as much as any agent and can likely give a good evaluation that way.

    Derek Carr Decides to Retire

I had heard that too. it may also depend on which teams are in line to draft him early. I suspect he will also want to avoid certain franchises which are a bit of a train wreck.

if that was gonna be done it would have happened by now. (sorry)

Jerrah wont stand for it. if he starts pulling that crap, Jerrah will suspend him for conduct detrimental to the team for as long as the collective bargaining agreement allows him and after that he will let him sit. dude will ask for his release and Jerrah likely wont do it. he will just plant him on the bench and let him sit. after a full year of non production he will not be resigned. Jerry jones one of those guys who is nice to you while you are pulling your weight. but if you start problems he can be very petty that way. he wont be pushed around. anyone who tries will pay the price and he will make an example of them. this is not a good place to pull your Diva crap. Jerry will put up with a certain amount if you are producing at an ELITE level, but that guy only has so much goodwill in him. Anything less than elite performance and there is no give in that guy. so it will be interesting to follow. but maybe a guy like Pickens needs that kind of management. Some WR only behave like that because managment allows it. either way, its gonna be feast or famine with this guy. I'm personally still undecided, but I dont blame you if you have him on your DND list. Likely i'd hope he slides to a point where I can get him as a WR4. That seems like a spot where I dont mind taking the risk on the guy. I wouldnt draft him as one of my starters though.

    Mid & late Rb ideas

yeah, the speed makes him an interesting prospect. but there are plenty of speedsters that dont seem to be able to cut it in the NFL. NFL loves the speed because of the home run ability. but the speed only matters once you get into the open field and it becomes a footrace. but if he figures out how to read the play, read his blocks and break into the open field, THEN he becomes VERY dangerous. lol Lets hope he can make things happen. Though Reids offenses are more complicated than a lot of NFL offenses. its not often a rookie comes into that offense and makes a lot of noise. so hes likely a better bet for next year after a year as a backup and special teams player. but you never know. an injury can sometimes change the timeline.

    Mid & late Rb ideas

well, pacheco has an injury that has a slow recovery time. I dont even know why KC tried to bring him back last year. I knew he wouldnt be ready. He may even take a few games to get to a point where he is himself again this season. Hunt is on a team friendly deal. they will keep him for whatever role they have in mind for him. hes a good enough receiver, a good short yardage back and hes good enough that he can start in a pinch. Hes just not your ideal starting RB. Smith is likely a developmental project. He is fast. but needs some coaching. like you said, probably special teams. not sure what to make of Mitchell. I'm sure reid has some role in mind. if pacheco isnt fully healthy this is likely a committee to start the year.

possibly. He could do better. I'd argue that the floor is low and the ceiling is high with a player like this.

2025 NFL Draft Profile - QB Jaxson Dart

I do not disagree. playoff teams make a lot of money. and in that big stadium, Jerrah cant afford to have it empty.

you are likely onto something there. I definitely think one of the vets is on the bubble to some extent. but its too early to say for sure. I dont think they are happy with the way the run game has gone the last year or so. So It would not surprise me if change is on the way in some way, shape, or form.

there are always repercussions for tanking. The biggest one is you lose fans. if the fan base gets cheezed off and ticket sales slump, the team wont be making the money it was. Thats why retread first round picks stick around. Teams will bring them in and attempt to rehab them and at least give the impression they are trying to be competitive. I get a laugh when people ask why. I'm like..... team still has to sell tickets. if it looks like a last place team a lot of people wont buy. but if it looks like they will at least be competitive, people will buy even if they think the team may lose as many as it wins. but when the team bottoms out the fan base gets disillusioned.

    Derek Carr Decides to Retire

true. But then again, you could say that about any QB drafted in almost any year. if they actually deserve to be a first round pick they will turn the fortunes of that team around quickly. This is a bit unique in the sense that when you say this about a guy not selected in round 1. But I think it can actually happen. Obviously there are no guarantees, but I like this kid a lot. in the old days when drop back, pocket passers were all the rage, a guy like this MIGHT have been a first round pick. I do think at some point the pendulum will swing and people will realize there is still a lot of value in the pocket passer. Not everyone can be Lamar Jackson or Jaylan Hurts. and for every Lamar, there are likely 2 or 3 Teebow or malik Willis types out there. The running QB who can actually throw and read a defense is not all that common. but if the team as a whole is solid from top to bottom, a pocket passer who can throw, read a defense and do a good job with their progressions can still get it done for you. I think some teams have forgotten this.

well, it feels like a fair plan. hopefully they stick to it. I dont mind giving the kid a cup of coffee late in the season (especialy if the line is performing) but we shall see.
