on another note, Herbert is not actually on the injury report for week 1. so hes full go from the sound of it. edit-apparently they changed their mind. Chargers add Justin Herbert (foot) to injury report after NFL advises team to do so - The Athletic (nytimes.com)

yes apparently a hip injury of sorts.. Missed Wednesday's practice. hopefully it is not serious

Instant Fantasy Analysis - QB Justin Herbert, Chargers
Ray_T replied to The Football Guru's topic in FFToday Board
yeah, what it comes down to is whether it will affect his throwing motion. I think while the injury is still affecting him he wont be running nearly as much. but if his throwing mechanics are still good, I'm not overly concerned about it. the running will come around as he heals. -
well, its better than Yahoo, but the bar is pretty low. I think both of them undervalue the rookies and second year players a fair bit.
-
I dont know that they will score this many points. If Baltimore runs the ball a whole lot more because of Henry, that will kill the clock in a very significant way. scoring should be down because of this. I think we are more likely looking at 24-21 or 21-17 or something of the like.

thats why I like drafting from the middle of the draft. its much easier to get one guy who is a steal at his ADP. but doing it in back to back picks? not always easy unless the draft falls just right. so I find drafting on the end to be a lot harder.
-
is that it? all I know is I saw he was limited in practice and assumed he dinged himself up or something. as he wasnt a player I was targetting at his ADP and I dont have him in any of my keeper leagues, hes not a guy I've been paying a lot of attention to.
-
I think thats better than a C-. in this case Yahoos ranking of your team is likely reasonably close. but you also drafted a lot of veterans and not too many rookies but its a well rounded team with decent talent throughout the lineuup. looks like a surefire playoff team if you stay healthy. I dont know if Id say this is a championship team. you're probably one good move away from putting yourself in that conversation though.
-
no I think he hurt himself in pre season. its looking like a gametime decision whether he will play. he was limited in his last practice from what I can tell
-
yahoo also does not value breakout candidates very well. they project based on previous years stats for the most part. so if picking breakout candidates they will often assign a poor grade for that but when you factor in upside that bad pick in yahoos eyes is actually good.
-
apparently the bengals are real high on this Iosivas kid who is WR3 on the depth chart. so much so that they were debating letting higgins walk. if picking a serious dark horse this is the guy. Nobody would have drafted him and significant upside. Though admittedly I think his max upside is around 700 yards unless an injury to Higgins or Chase keeps them out for more than a couple games.

depends on the type of league you are in if its a dynasty league, hes likely worth a stash. but he injured 2 ligaments. not just one. so we are looking at 18-24 months before hes where he needs to be. Likely closer to 24 than 18. This year is a total writeoff. in any redraft format I'd avoid him. ditto for keeper format. Not sure his age and injury status warrants keeping him. at this point and this age 27 you are looking at a 29 year old making a comeback this time next year. so there may be some tread on the tire still but that rookie(JJ Mccarthy) they drafted this year will be making his first starts this time next year, so the return could be rough. so in most formats... not worth a keep. deep dynasty maybe but it is also a know your league thing. how many TE's are usually kept? for the record I think if you have the chance Kmet in Chicago might be a nicer stash than Hock right now. hes a nice breakout candidate who could provide an almost immediate return.
-
apparently Chark is having a real good camp. so he might be a sneaky good pick
-
he is a nice late round flyer. real problem is there is more depth than we have seen at the TE position in a long time. I think hes a real nice breakout candidate and in a deeper league you should get him as your TE2. but right now hes on my watch list and if he shows signs of a breakout I will likely pick him up.

at the NFL level there are not a lot of QBs who throw without pressure. There is always someone trying to bat down your passes or getting in the face of the QB. either you can play with pressure, or you dont remain a starting QB at the NFL level very long. in general the QB's internal clock to process plays has to allow them to get rid of the ball before pressure gets there. so the ability of the QB to function(or lack thereof) is based on how fast the pressure comes and how fast the QB can do their reads. in general, the speed with which the pressure arrives is fairly consistent unless you have a top 5 or 6 line or a bottom 5 or 6 line. if you have a bottom 5 or 6 line, your QB better be lightning quick at getting rid of the ball. cousins played behind a suspect line the last year or two with success but This is not something you typically see. Danny dimes played behind a subpar line. Then when injuries hit it got even worse. to a point where I think it was the worst or second worst line in football and then he got hurt. the line was better and healthier the year prior and so was Danny Dimes performance. No surprise there. they have brought in some players to shore the line up. It is possible that Dimes reverts to be more like the QB of 2 years ago (but with more talent at WR) problem with bringing in new players to a line is sometimes it does take time to learn to work together. so there will likely still be some growing pains but I cannot see it being as bad as it was last year. so while I am not endorsing Danny Dimes, I do think there is a chance the good danny dimes we saw will return if that line is actually improved. He has better weapons, so it could be a fairly dramatic turnaround..... if they have not already ruined Danny dimes as a player to this point.

Yeah, and if I followed all the yahoo rankings I'd lose my pool. I really dont care if Yahoo ranks me badly. I can make a far better ranking system than anything Yahoo has got. there is a better ranking system here on fftoday if you care to look. while its not perfect its a whole lot more than anything yahoo has (or ever will have)

honestly its tough to project any rookie WR to get over 1000 yards. sure it happens, but the guy needs to be a finished product dropping into a good situation. even then, there is still a learning curve once the guy hits the NFL. only WR in this class I'd even consider taking that early is Harrison. Nabers has similar talent but doesnt have as good a team around him and that will hurt his numbers I dont mind projecting Nabers for 800 to 850 yards though. and thats a pretty good rookie season for a WR

most of the drafts I've won I got either a D or an F from yahoo. Their prediction algorithm is absolutely terrible
-
talentless isnt the word I'd use. if he was not talented he wouldnt be a starter in the NFL. but hes a fairly unspectacular guy for a #1 WR on his team. maybe a tad better than a JAG. he does a lot of things a bit better than average but but hes also not special in any way. for that reason he will never be a true #1. hes better cast as a #2 WR.
-
well, Darnold has never had better WR than he does now. if he cant cut it here, he likely cant cut it anywere as a starter.
-
I think Tannehill might play well in that offense. at least... well by his standards. not necessarily well by yours.
-
do you have to drop someone? maybe you can make a trade. I acknowledge sometimes a trade doesnt materialize or takes time and if you need this now maybe the drop add option works best for you.
