I know the Giants are going to suck but....

well, yes and no. the line was exposed more than he was. the line was basically a turnstile. I dont know that there are more than one or two QB that could have performed behind that line. It looks like they have made some changes that I have to believe make the line better. admittedly part of the problem was injuries last year but a lot was bad play. I think with a little time to throw and an actual true #1 WR on the roster they will be better. now whether they are better enough to be good is one thing, but I think they should be able to beat Darnold. but the bar is very low.
  2. I'd probably rank Williams the highest here. though Doubs is close. but he has a higher floor and lower ceiling. Lockett I dont like that much. hard to say but he may no longer be in a position to put up good numbers due to age and the emerging rookie they drafted last year. (forget his name)

    Dallas RB

well, thats why he is a backup and not a starter. Dowdle is the same situation. he will likely put up some decent yards, but probably not much in the TD department. if you could combine them into one back you might have something, but thats not reality. both are good quality backups. but you should not count on them giving you starter numbers often. they are likely matchup plays. I respectfully disagree. with the departure of Ridley to Tennessee its probable hes the #1 WR once again. so I see his volume going back up again. Brian Thomas is likely the next #1 but hes probably a year away from making that a reality. it might happen late in the season, but in the interim I'm predicting a better year than last year for Kirk. but likely not quite as good as what he got the year before. I think that makes him a WR2. which I think makes him more valuable than Dowdle. if you disagree and think he is valued at a low end WR3 then I'd say its close and it may actually depend on what you need. ie. whether you need a WR or a RB more.
  5. also worth noting, everyone knows where the top Defenses rank but if you are one of those guys who waits on a Defense until the last or second to last round, you should strongly consider chicago. if you look at what this defense did after they acquired Sweat, it was pretty good. pro rated, would make them top 10. now that Defense had the misfortune of having an offense that wasnt very good. if you now believe that offense will be good, thats a whole lot of time on the field for the defense that will simply vanish. so we wont see a tired defense late in games. and the defense also lost points because their offense turned the ball over to the other team in their own end of the field. that also hurts the numbers of the defense. so if you think this also gives the defense a boost, we are now looking at an even higher finish. maybe top 8 or so with still some more upside possible depending on how good the offense actually is this year.
  6. nice post I was not aware of this. if you(or anyone else) find any articles specific to this I'd appreciate if you post it here. this is a situation that may be worth keeping on top of. especially if it turns out Kamara gets hurt. I fully expect as long as Kamara is healthy Miller will likely remain on the wire anyhow so there is no rush on this unless you are in a really deep league.
  7. I actually like the Kendre Miller flyer. almost took him in a couple drafts of mine, but hes one of many late round flyers I like. but any team where the starting RB is close to (or over) the age of 30 you should pick their top backup late to pair up with the player. so if picking Kamara, Kendre Miller is likely the most valueable handcuff on the board to you and as a player hes worth more on your roster than he is on any other roster. but I dont mind him as a pickup at all. Not sure about Ali. I feel like if King Henry goes down, that becomes a committee where nobody puts up good numbers.
  8. thats the thing. hes a low floor, high ceiling player. I dont mind grabbing him as a later round guy simply because the upside warrants it. Id take him a full round ahead of the last ADP I saw. admittedly that was a couple weeks back so if his ADP has shortened up substantially since then this last statement may need to be revised some.

    Christian McCaffery Placed On IR

and fully healthy he should be #1 overall. I do have concerns about his health but Id probably still take him ahead of any of the other RB, but at the same time if I could trade him for the #2 RB on my board and get another asset coming my way Id probably be down for that.

    Stroud - Bust Articles

Stroud is more a traditional drop back passer, but hes got it going on in terms of throwing the ball. he had draftable numbers last year as a rookie. this year he has more talent than he had last season and hes got another year of experience. as long as hes not one of the first 4 or 5 QB off the board he should provide good value for you at the draft table. He is one QB you dont really need rush yards from to have a good year. Think Kirk Cousins, Tom Brady, Peyton Manning..... all drop back QB's who have been fantasy darlings in the past despite their lack of rushing yards. the rush yards will keep a QB afloat if their passing is not up to speed, but they need to get the passing part of their game up to speed within 2 (or in some cases 3) years or risk losing the job as a starter. the ability to run will help them while they learn the game, but in the end its the passing ability that allows the QB to stay in the league in the long run.

    fringe players

most of the following players are either on the Cusp of being on waivers or are actually on waivers themselves in one of my leagues (small bench) these will also be the type of players some of you struggle with late in your draft so I'm gonna make a game of this. Lets rank em. Dionte Johnson- #1 in Carolina Jeudy, #2 in Cleveland Hopkins #1 in Tennessee Reed #1 in Green Bay Mooney #2 in Atlanta There are likely other good candidates to rank here, but this is something that should stimulate some good conversation

    fringe players

agreed. but I got him for only $2 in my auction. so it qualifies even though hes better than that. much appreciate the comments. I do currently have Jeudy and am debating dropping him for Mooney

    Dalvin Cook Now a Cowboy

just curious what everyones take on this is. feels like one of two things has happened..... 1) Zeke could be done and they need someone to fill his role 2) Rico- isnt getting it done and they need someone to fill his role Not sure which is the case, but I suspect its bad news for one of them
  16. that's the thing. #1 rule of fantasy football is know the rules but that also means know the repercussions of the rules and how that should affect your draft list. the minute I saw you could superflex more than one QB slot, I knew immediately I'd be going QB-QB-QB in that format, but someone who had never done superflex would be naive to that. They will be learning the hard way.

    Ja’Marr Chase?

honestly I have no concerns about chase at all. its that leaky line and the injury status of Burrow. it sounds like they made some moves in the off season to address this but I dont know if they went far enough. we will see. but if the line holds, and he and his QB are healthy all year, the sky is the limit here.

    4th Round RBs

yeah, thats a situation that's hard to read. coach always talks up the backup and that they wanna spread the ball around, but in the end the #1 RB/WR still get by far most of the carries. unless the coach has a history of running a committee I'd take that comment with a grain of salt. That said, Monty is good enough to start on some other teams so hes not gonna completely be regulated to backup duty. he will get some reps. Just maybe not quite as many as last year
  19. I also like Kirk Cousins. though I'm not sure hes really a sleeper, but hes not being drafted as a QB1 and there is a chance he should be. People are discounting him due to the Achilles injury but he is not a running QB. hes always been a bit of a statue in the pocket, so I really dont think the injury affects his game. Early in the season hes looked sharp too. and now hes on a team with pretty close to equal talent to what he had in Minny, but hes playing behind a better line. you give a guy like Cousins more time to throw, hes gonna be more productive. so I wouldnt be surprised if you pro rate his stats while healthy to a full season if he hits that number. if things go right, he even exceeds that number, and I'm pretty sure that's in QB1 territory.
  20. was it that long ago? I guess it was. well either way, I wouldnt be surprised to see him with at least 40 this year given the better WR he now has to work with. still, thats a significant bump fantasy wise. the 2 point bump to the TD's will skew the scoring. your QB ranks will be all different and you need to adjust to the new reality. that's the bottom line. and if the #1 QB scores 50 fantasy points more than anyone else, its hard not to want to take him early.
  21. yeah the person who came first to mind was Mahomes. I think hes only a year or two removed from a 50 TD season

    4th Round RBs

100% I also like Mixon and Jacobs at this point in the draft too. Might even be able to wait on Jacobs. in some cases hes going early in round 5. might be able to go zero RB, then come back and take 2 of these 3 in rounds 4/5 and have one of the better RB tandems in your league.
  23. I agree. it doesnt get any worse than the situation that existed here last year. I'm predicting bigger numbers on offense across the board (for the most part) Better QB, better scheme/coach. what's not to like? there is an outside chance this turnaround will be as dramatic as when McVay took over in LA. wouldnt entirely surprise me if this is a top 5 offense, but I'd say its safer to assume it will be a top 12 offense. Likely at around #9 or #10.
  24. not entirely true. in normal leagues where there are 4 Points for TD passes, the running QB have a distinct advantage because you get 6 points for rush TD. so this would essentially put the running QB on even ground with the passing QB. so those QB who throw a lot of TD passes should be taken earlier (likely a round or two but I admittedly have not crunched the numbers to figure out exactly how big a boost this should be to the ADP. Especially in cases where the QB throws an awful lot of TD passes. but the running QB shouldnt be affected as much. in the end, it is worth noting that the QB who throws 40 TD Passes and runs for none will have their score for the year boosted by 80 points. Thats a pretty significant number and when dealing with those kind of numbers I cannot advise anyone in good conscience not to move QB up your board. it has just become a more important position and if you have the best QB the advantage would be considerable.
  25. to me this means he wants an excuse to make Corum the starter. so if Williams gets worn down or hurt, Corum goes full time.
