Where's the Love!!!! (pardon the pun.... I couldnt resist)
-
yeah, I saw, he ran to the right on most of those before going down in almost a slide. not a true kneel down. so because of that they considered it a rush attempt. am I right?
-
its funny. when they avoided that FG and did the 4th down gamble that succeeded, I looked at the clock and there was almost 7 minutes on it. I figured a FG and then a very good chance they get the ball back with some time on the clock. but I get that its the Chiefs, but still. The defense was actually doing a mostly decent job of keeping the Chiefs offense on the sidelines. at some point you gotta trust the D to get it done. if they had scored, they'd still have to trust the D to get it done anyways, so why not take the points and make it a 3 point game?

well, he knows how to run a pro offense. with some luck the kid was paying attention and not pouting. he could learn from the experience if hes that way inclined.
-
maybe. I think Flacco or Dalton would have been better. but once you throw that kind of cash out you are more or less committed to that player until the GM gets fired for that signing.
-
no surprise here. they won last week so the pressure to have him come back early is not there like it would have been with a loss. either way, thanks for the confirmation.
-
thanks. the Scoop and play thread used to be a staple on this board in past years. I kinda miss it.

I feel like Trevor Lawrence is getting too much of a pass

yeah, a lot of us knew the WR could play though. nobody was trying to unload Manning when he was suddenly dropped in there at QB. There was no question at the time whether Manning would perform. and those WR were highly sought after once it was announced manning would be there. usually those in the know have an idea of who can play and who cant. Thomas and Decker were beating coverage fairly consistently with Teebow at QB. but the throw would miss them by a mile. Thats perhaps a very extreme comparison. not entirely fair. Lawrence isnt entirely without weapons. he just doesnt have a true #1 WR. say what you will about kirk, but he is at least a viable WR. he is just not a #1 WR. Engram is good but hes no Kelce. he cant take an offense on his back and step it up a level like he did in his prime. A true #1 WR would turn a 4000 yard QB like him into a 4500 yard QB. if he gets one, he may yet turn into a top QB. so I'm waiting and watching. Not drafting him at this point unless the value is there. Almost got him as my #2 QB in my superflex league this year but ended up going a different direction as I was outbid at the auction. -
strongest arm. yes. most accurate? not sure. though I will say that one TD throw was a thing of beauty. Probably the best throw I've ever seen him make. if he can do that consistently that's a game changer.

100% true. but hes also not 100% to blame for the situation either. they threw an absolutely stupid amount of money at Kirk and brought him over to be their #1 WR. everyone on this board knew he wasnt a #1 WR. Hes still not. I do think there is more upside here, but only if he has good personell around him. Kirk isnt a #1. hes a #2 on most normal teams. I lay this at the feet of management. and I think a lot of other people do too. This may also be why hes gotten a bit of a pass. -
agreed. he still needs to develop his game a bit but hes close. At this point I'd say its safe to say he will be a player. what we dont know is exactly how high that ceiling actually is. but in week 1 he was ELECTRIC. The most exciting guy on the field. and as he gains experience, and improves his connection with Love, this will only get better.
-
truth. I remember when Tim Teebow was a thing. top notch fantasy QB but terrible actual QB.

I think its a case where nobody around here paid a high pick for Lawrence. hes a guy that the original guy who drafted him pulled the chute and whoever is buying him now knows they are getting a low end QB1 or a high end QB2. hes a significant player in my superflex league but any league that starts 1 QB, hes either your backup or a 1a or 1B if you are going with dualing QB's -
this. this is the time of year when the team tries to give some of the young players a bigger opportunity. They know Kelce wont be there in future years. they are trying not to be dependant on him. when the chips are down Kelce will be there, but its also a case where kelce may not be the player he was too.

Ray Davis actually looked good last game, but given where he is on the depth chart I dont know that it can last. he needs to move up the depth chart. tough place to work that.
-
if your 4th round rookie is playing and getting significant play, thats a good thing isnt it?
-
agreed. he did show a little in this last game. Just enough to make me think maybe better days are ahead. but I wouldnt hold my breath. hes been bad for a while here.
-
he has a chance to be top 12. not just top 20. either way, you always make an initial offer thats a bit less than you expect to pay. that's the art of negotiation. he says he doesnt value him that high, but then why is he trying to trade for him? see what I mean? I would not take that offer if I were in your shoes. I dont know that id make a counter offer either. if the offer is (in your opinion) not anywhere close to his true market, there is no point in continuing the negotiation. just say 'no thanks' dont berate him or criticize. just politely say no thanks. if he really wants him he will come back with a legitimate offer. if not, its probably best you are not dealing with the guy anyhow.

yeah thats a fantasy football rule. not a real football rule. in real life football, moves like this put the player at risk of re injury (potentially) without looking at medical records I cannot say if that applies here, but I've heard enough stories of ligament sprains turning to ligament tears. if hes the franchise QB, you look after your investment. if hes got more than a nominal risk of re injury, you sit him. its just common sense. and the reality is we dont know what the medical records say. maybe it wasnt a serious sprain in the first place, but maybe it was. There is a distinct lack of information going on here. but I also have to assume the team wouldnt be stupid enough to let him play if there was a risk to re injure. so there is that. but I've also seen teams do things that are plenty stupid in the past, so its not a given that they will do the right thing
-
even if they think he can play, the right move is to sit him. maybe dress him as an emergency QB or something but I wouldnt start him
-
thats a terrible injury for a RB. they shouldnt have even had him out there. Yech! either way, the more important thing is that he was productive when he last played for Reid. I acknowledge he may not be the same player. but Reid has a way of getting the best out of his guys. I picked up Steele but if he looks terrible I may just dump him and pick up Hunt and hope for the best. I am cautiously optomistic. I actually liked some of the tape I saw on this kid.

well, I can appreciate that good info is sometimes hard to come by and when there isnt much you grab what you can. I'd prefer a report that he practiced and looked good but like you said..... at least it's something..... signs of life. or something like that.
-
I heard the same. I see Downs made a practice this week. is he expected to play this week? if so I'm guessing it may be a pitch count situation until they know hes fully good to go.
-
that's the thing. Late in the game with KC up 2 TD, I could see them feeding Steele a lot, and he will just wear down that defense. hes useless if Kc goes down by 2 TD, but how often does that ACTUALLY happen? not that often.
