yeah, I think saying he knew when he did was a mistake. he should have said he found out the morning of the game. but its done and over with. I'm sure the league wont be happy about that, but we wont likely hear anything about that discussion which will be behind closed doors

I'd say no. if CMC is healthy he will play a full load. but right now hes not. so Mason will have some value for a couple games

a really nice night in his first career start. saw the interview after the game. he seems like a nice kid.

I dont know fully about that. got Rodgers to be a backup QB in the second to last round of one of my drafts. at that price I'm fully ok with taking him there. but yeah, I get it. too much hype.

That is a problem. you can overcome these issues but you need a good line. This used to be the scouting report for Dak Prescott. can get rattled when you get in his face and make bad decisions. but he landed in Dallas playing behind what might have been the best O line in the league at the time and he was fine. Lessons can be learned here. Hopefully they fix this up before they ruin their top prospect.

I agree. no point trying to fit a square peg into a round hole. as long as Montgomery thrives in the role there is no point in switching things up.

I have always liked Likely. but felt he only had value if Mark Andrews is out. But Andrews is hurt, and now at age 29 its not a given that Andrews will play more than a couple more years. (he might but beyond 30 most TE's production tends to fall off) That said, lining him up in some WR spots is a new use for him that I like to see. and he actually looks better than some of the WR's the team has been putting on the field, so its not unrealisitic to see both he and Andrews on the field at the same time. I still think they give Andrews a good chance to keep his #1 TE job and for that reason I'm not as high on him as some, but I also think there is no reason not to use both guys. So even though he is #2 on the depth chart, he might be worth grabbing and holding. but remember, hes still #2 on the TE depth chart, so you may not get consistent production out of him once Andrews is fully healthy.

that is also fair. I'll be honest, the reason for his rough start to his career was partly attributed to the poor line play. they did bring in some free agents to shore up the line some. and they brought in Dionte who I felt should be an improvement to the WR. I figured Bryce would take a step forward. it may still happen. but this was an embarrassing performance. Not just for young, but the team as a whole I never watched but I may take a peek on NFL replay to see if I can get some insight as to where the issue likely is.

well, Gibbs and Montgomery shared carries for nearly the whole year last season. so it was not by any means a lock that Gibbs would be the bell cow Back. and late in the game they ran Montgomery hard and he delivered big time. he ran with a lot of power and smarts and delivered when he needed to. I am thinking this is gonna be a committee like last season. this weeks game more or less confirmes it. Gibbs wont be without good games, but I think his usage wont be as high as some other #1 RB.
-
I think at the very least you need to give him credit for not screwing it up.
-
I like the way you think. using the waiver rules to your advantage. Thats good.

I suppose. but they really won because of the Defense. not because of anything the offense did. rough start to be sure. but not entirely uncommon with a rookie QB

Jameson Williams - Reinstated - Back with DET for Wk5
Ray_T replied to Vikings4ever's topic in FFToday Board
well, I'd rather have Williams at his ADP than Amon Ra at his. I have one share of Jameson Willams. no shares in Amon Ra. I do have Goff in a couple leagues. with that many mouths to feed the QB is usually the winner in that scenario. but week 1 proved to be nothing special for Goff. -
and Montgomery is clearly better on those inside runs. though I think Gibbs is showing signs of coming around

Dynasty: Malik Nabers is better than Marvin Harrison Jr
Ray_T replied to nobody's topic in FFToday Board
agreed. the price people were paying for Harrison was absolutely crazy. to spend that high a pick on a rookie is risky at best. I'd have to be awfully sure about him to draft him there. I still think he will have a good rookie season but it may not be quite at the level people are thinking. he will still have his good weeks. but remember he was against the Bills. a pretty good defense overall. and if they put the #1 cover guy on him thats an adjustment. -
Jameson Williams - Reinstated - Back with DET for Wk5
Ray_T replied to Vikings4ever's topic in FFToday Board
well, if williams was gonna have a really big breakout, at least some of it would have to be at the expense of one of the other WR. This may be one of those offenses now where williams will go off one week, Amon Ra the next. etc. I suspect less consistency in the offensive numbers due to the number of mouths to feed. my bet is there wont be any true #1 WR on the roster if Williams gets close to 1000 receiving yards. at least 300-400 of those yards would come at the expense of someone else on the roster. -
hey guys, sorry for getting my commentary on my own picks so late. my team QB 8.01 Goff- Lions 11.12-Carr-Saints 15.12-Bryce Young I tried to go late on the QB this time around. Happy to snag Young so late. The team has invested in the line and brought in another weapon at WR. If the line is truly improved, I expect he will take a step forward in his development. Possibly to a point where he may be fantasy relevant. Goff is solid for where I took him and Carr is a fine backup. RB 1.12 Henry-BAL 2.01 Barkley-PHI 6.01 Swift-DET- 12.01 Dobbins -LAC I wasnt planning on going hard on RB early, but my hand was forced. WR went more than RB early. so much so that I felt there were not any WR I really liked at the turn. I'd rather jump in to start a run at a position than join in at the end of one, so I went where the value was. Barkley and Henry were (to me at least) the Best RB on the board at the time. Henry was a bit of a reach, but I wasnt gonna pick again for like 22 picks so I didnt want to presume a good RB would come back to me at the end of round 3. this is one of the pitfalls of picking on the end. if you want your guy, you sometimes have to reach. and Reach I did, but I feel like I have one of the better 1-2 punches at RB this year in the Mock. also happy to get Swift as my #3. I'm excited about the Bears offense for the first time..... well.... maybe ever. I think Swift could be a big part of that. Dobbins is a fine RB4. upside is there if he stays healthy. WR 3.12 Pickens-PIT 4.01 Waddle-MIA 7.12 Ridley-TEN 9.12 Palmer-LAC 10.01 Shaheed-NO 14.01 Wicks-GB Mixed bag here. the price you pay for not drafting a WR early. Pickens provides reasonable upside. I'm hoping the improvement at QB will allow him to take another step forward. good potential upside here Waddle-in my mind one of the best really good WR left on the board. I was happy to get him at 4.01 Ridley-1000 yard WR moved to Tennessee. Hoping he has shaken off the rust. Palmer and shaheed are both high upside mid to later round picks. Hoping one of them breaks out to make this average WR group above average Wicks is a late round flyer. PFF had him as the WR who gets open the most often in the NFL. those metrics tell me this is a possible breakout candidate, and at this price I'll take a shot. TE 5.12 Kittle Really happy to get Kittle here. full value for a 1000 yard TE. unhappy with myself for not getting a backup TE given the amount kittle has been hurt in his career. Hopefully this doesnt bite me in the arse. (it probably will) D/ST 13.12 Jets 16.01Eagles I think the Jets may be the best Defense in the NFL this year. with an offense that can actually stay on the field and not turn the ball over a ton, this defense will not be tired late in games and will not give up points that are really the fault of the offense for turning the ball over. it was one of the top defenses on a bad team last year, but with a solid offense, they could rise to the top. really happy to get them Eagles are ok. really wanted the bears here. probably should have taken that backup TE I spoke of earlier for this spot. my bad. overall I give myself a B minus. happy with the RB. need some WR to step up to make this a super competitive team. QB are decent but not outstanding TE and D/ST are top notch. in a redraft league this is a low end playoff team but not a championship team. Not without some breakouts. I did do a fair job of taking players with upside so it can happen. I'm just not counting on it.
-
yeah, having him ranked as a QB and then suddenly switching to TE screws over the guy who just dropped him for fear hes not a useful QB. its essentially a mid season rule change. given that it happened the day after he dropped the player I'd give him 24 hours to decide if he wants him back. if he rejects, then he goes to waivers or free agency or whatever happens in your league.
-
I think if my memory is correct he had a reputation of dropping too many passes too. but hes maybe the first WR with that kind of speed who is also a good route runner. so from my perspective hes a much higher chance at success. either way, no sane team drafts him ahead of Harrison or Nabers so that pushed him down the list. but this may have been the deepest draft at WR in a generation. maybe ever. so its a forgiveable offense

well, I figured Likely could have started for a large number of teams last year. but I really think this is a function of Andrews isnt 100% so they did the pivot and kept Andrews in to draw some coverage. Hes talented enough I agree, but they wont discard Andrews unless he really cannot play. I dont feel thats happening yet. it may have happened this week because Andrews may not be healthy but I cannot see this being the norm moving forward. he may have one or two more games of very high production and maybe when Andrews is ready they do more 2 TE sets and it becomes a dual threat. but there are only so many mouths to feed, so his upside may be limited (though admittedly he looked better than nearly all the Baltimore WR too)

no kidding. lol

Packers vs Eagles Friday Night Football from Brazil
Ray_T replied to nobody's topic in FFToday Board
he also seems to start off the season slow. look at his last couple seasons. week 1 and 2 were shaky and then he started lighting it up might just be coincidence but its worth noting. if you own him do not panic. -

Barkley is deadly once he gets the ball in space. and that combined with a good O line is a nice combination. once he gets into the secondary, watch out. I love this guy. Took him in the July Mock but wasnt able to get him in any of my other drafts. I'm a bit sad about that, but hey, sometimes the draft falls in a manner that you cant get all your targeted players. it happens.
