yeah early prognosis is that Hopkins might be back for week 1 but may also miss a game or two to start the year. not huge but enough to drop him a couple spots in your rankings

Giants HC Brian Daboll berates offense during ‘sloppy’ practice

just a question, does it look like the injury is still affecting him? I figured at this point it might be -
I think this is the situation. if the team gets off to a slow start (regardless of whether it's the fault of the QB or not) there is a good chance fields sees the field (pardon the pun) if the team is 1-5 or 2-4 after 6 games then Wilson is on shaky ground. if 3-3 or better he gets more time. I do think Wilson is good enough to get them to a 3-3 record to start the year. I dont know if he gets them through to the end of the year.

this is the deepest draft we have had at the WR position in a long while. almost any other year McConkey is likely a first round pick

ok a buddy just sent me a youtube video with a doctor talking about his injury. I think I'm gonna rate anyone in this offense as 'avoid' at least until we get clarification on the details of the injury. it sounds like this could linger for much of the season and affect his ability to run. hes not a huge running QB but its part of his game and may also affect his ability to plant and throw. especially if its a minor tear (which takes longer to recover from)
-
I'm pretty sure hes made of glass. at this point if hes performing I might pick him up to cover a bye week. big IF. and thats assuming that hes healthy. (he probably isnt)
-
Chubb is a guy you likely shouldnt take a chance on unless getting him real cheap. he had multiple ligaments go. thats more complicated rehab than just a plain ol ACL. while he may be well enough to play he will be a shadow of his former self this year. I truly think Ford and/or Foreman will be the better player for at least the first half of the year (and possibly all year)

I'd also take the over. giants biggest problem was the line and injuries. I have to think the injury situation shouldnt get worse than what it was last year. As last year was pretty close to as bad as it gets for a team. but as someone else said, while I am taking the over, I dont think they will be over by a lot. -
about the slap? or about the backup being good enough to work at subway?
-
there are 2 main possibilities. 1) there will be someone who gets 1000 yards. 2) there will be multiple players who get 800-1000 yards but nobody gets 1000 yards. Herbert (if healthy) is too good for one of these scenarios not to play out. but if he misses significant time then there is the possibility the WR on the team will be a fantasy train wreck
-
ouch. not liking this, but at least there is time to recover. early camp injuries dont worry me as much as late camp ones do (unless its of a serous nature)

I dont think Chark is good enough to be a WR1. while the talent is there, his route running on some routes still needs work. What he does he does fairly well but he still struggles on certain routes. he is more likely to be a good WR2 if he gets his act together. he has had a 1000 yard season in the past and has played well in spurts but has also been woefully inconsistent. right now I think still hes mostly insurance in the sense they can play him if McConkey isnt where he needs to be or someone gets hurt. Like I said earlier whoever is gonna be a top 2 WR on this team needs to beat him out. I dont think the team wants him to win the battle unless he comes in and blows the doors off himself. They want McConkey to do this. They drafted him, hes Their guy. either way, there are likely 2 fantasy relevant WR on this team. I suspect Chark isnt one of them. I think it will be Palmer and McConkey.

Round Eleven-Sixteen Commentary - July Mock 2024
Ray_T replied to Vikings4ever's topic in The Mocking Station
last 2 Picks for me. I wanted to take the Bears D. they were ranked low enough that I thought they would slip to me. but decided Philly is ok as a second Defense. debated picking a second TE as well but it was fairly picked clean but given I wanted a third qb I couldnt get everything. instead I took Bryce Young. its not unusual for a QB to have a rough rookie year. wouldnt surprise me if he actually put up some fantasy worthy games this year. -

well, its him and McConkey who will be 1-2 (in my opinion) Chark has an outside chance but I think they want McConkey to beat him out. but as a rookie sometimes it takes time for that to play out.

well, there are some coaches who think pro level coaching will change that. it can in some cases. but most times not. and if your ability to separate isnt what it needs to be the WR needs to have a talent that allows them to catch the ball without separation. either you have a real wide catch radius with good hands or incredible leaping ability (like Dez Bryant) that allows you to run to a point on the field and the QB can just lob it up to you to go get. I dont know how many times a DB was all over Dez (as his route running was suspect at best) but hed simply get to the spot and out leap the DB for the ball. either way I dont see that in this guy either. This is why so many people are excited about Harrison. I actually found his ability to separate at times could be better but his catch radius is unbelievable and even if hes not open he still catches the ball if its reasonably thrown. so even if hes not open, he likely still comes up with the ball. That skill separates him from the other prospects.
-
I do think Palmer is an underrated target. assuming good health he is for sure either the #1 or #2 WR in this offense. that likely makes him fantasy relevant. and you can get him dirt cheap in the draft.
-
well, he has a totally different skillset from Pacheco. he is more an avid pass catcher but not a very strong between the tackles runner. Pacheco, on the other hand is ok (average) in the pass game among starters, but between the tackles hes exactly what you want.
-
very true. and its tough sledding when that happens. Maybe a change of scenery is what he needs. but I dont know that he will get it.
-
well, Quentin Johnston didnt really look good his rookie season. I have not seen enough of him to know exactly why. he didnt get a ton of playing time and when I did see him he was rarely on the camera. but if he doesnt show at least some progression in his game, he will shift from prospect to suspect in short order.

come on guys, lets keep this about the football. Everyone is entitled to an opinion. right or wrong. Lets not go with the name calling. try to keep it civil. for the record I dont think it was a case where Reid was run out of town by anyone. I think its a case where his son died of a drug overdose and I think Reid needed a change of scenery to get out of the city.

well, when the fantasy points for QBs becomes so overwhelmingly tilted toward the QB I think you need to go QB early. QB's who throw for TDs are now on a level playing field to those who rush for them. Lets face facts. if your QB gets 30 pass td or more, the TD change alone now gives them an extra 60 fantasy points per year. that's huge. I am going on the assumption that the rest of the positions are typical standard or PPR scoring? or is there some other rules with the scoring that changes that too?
