eventually this is likely Pachecos fate, though hes still fairly young. My guess is hes at least got a couple more years til this becomes a concern

Round Eleven-Sixteen Commentary - July Mock 2024

well, I think its between him and Javonte for the starting Job in Denver. either you believe in one or you believe in the other. If I had drafted Javonte I'd be real excited to get this guy as well just simply because you know one of these guys is likely to be the starter. but as a late round dart throw I dont mind this guy. at least the upside is there. -
I like cousins a lot in this offense. the only question is the injury. but hes not a running QB so I think as long as he can move within the pocket and it doesnt affect his throwing motion he will be just fine. I wanted him but because I was drafting on the end, I was robbed of the opportunity to get him because of the way the draft fell. I do like the cousins pick though.

Drafting on the turn I grabbed the NY Jets D. I think they were the 4th or 5th ranked D last year and couldnt get off the field due to an inept offense. I think with an offense that moves the ball they will get late game turnovers from teams desperate to come back. I think there is the possibility this could be one of the top 2 or 3 defenses this year. my other pick Wicks is a guy I feel has a very high ceiling. There is the chance he breaks out next year instead of this year but I am excited about the potential of this guy and happy to use a pick at this point in the draft on him. -

That is a long week. surprised you arent just going home and passing out haha. -
well, he sure doesnt seem to be able to catch passes. might as well see if he has uses elsewhere in the lineup before kicking him to the curb

yeah, but after hours picks and weekend picks are not a requirement. we cant come down on people for that. and in past years we would have been done by now it just wasnt meant to be. I'm now on holidays so when it looks like I wont be around for a pick I'll be emailing a list in. luckily we are near the end so no big deal. -

yes, slower than past years. but thats dumb luck. there actually were more cases in past years where they took more than 2 hours and we had to call/email them. this year I think more people took the full 2 hours -

I wanted each of the last 3 or 4 QB to go. kinda choked none of them fell to me here, but I took the Carr consolation prize. Then Dobbins. a low floor high upside RB4 for me. -

I also like to hear other peoples takes on a player. even if I dont agree with it, its good to know where some people are at with a player even if its to get an idea as to what value the average person places on that player. I also think the debate is good. sometimes info on a player will come out in a debate that will change my mind on that player too. to that end I do enjoy the debates. if it seems like I am argumentitive I'm not trying to be. just enjoying the debate -
I have long been a believer that most teams win or lose games on the line. it affects everything. if your line performs well, your QB has more time to throw, your RB's have bigger holes to run through. and if your line doesnt perform, then the RB has to ad lib and find a way to get positive yards when the line doesnt open up a hole. and your QB has to scramble to make a play or throw the ball away. I guess the reason why teams are going with running QB now is because their scrambling ability can allow them to perform even when the line isnt. but there is a cost to that. injuries. Your running QB are more prone to injuries due to all the extra hits they take when they scramble. and if your young QB has to scramble too much it can force them into bad habits as well. so its not always a good thing. That said, I'd take a good pocket passer who can make a quick read and decision behind a good line over a running QB behind a bad line. but that's real life football. in fantasy the running QB behind a questionable line is fantasy gold because of all the rush yards.
-
yeah, I did my research. this type of injury is 2 years to fully recover. now that hes slimmed down I think hes prime for the breakout we all were wanting. if you can get him cheap hes a good buy I think.

my first year of fantasy football, was the year after Tomlinsons rookie year. at the time he was viewed as good, but not great. it was a keeper league (keep 3) and I won the first pick overall. Had everyone convinced I was gonna take Kurt Warner, but did a ton of research and decided to turn the draft on its head. Took Marshall Faulk in the first round, priest Holmes in round 2. everyone figured I'd go WR in round 3 but when the draft came back to me I took Tomlinson. everyone asked why and I said, hes the best player on the board and hes young. then in round 4 I came back and took Donovan McNabb. The rest was history. I didnt draft especially well at WR, but Tomlinson played superb and Priest Holmes broke out. I had the 3 best RB in fantasy football. I then traded Faulk to a team in need of RB and got for 2 starting WR and the rest was history. I cleaned up. and I got hooked. admittedly I didnt totally know what I was doing though 2 websites seriously educated me. (one being fftoday) and I learned a lot in a short period of time. honestly I've had good drafts and bad drafts since.... even a few great drafts, but none compared to that one. everything I touched turned to gold. Beginners luck? maybe. but I had help and fftoday was a part of that.

I was also considering Purdy at my point in the draft too. but there are still a lot of QB still available and I decided it was worth the risk to wait. and given that I'm weaker at WR than I'd like I figured shoring that up had to be the priority for me. -

I was not entirely pleased with my WR. they are ok. but decided at this point to try to shore up the position with 2 players who could potentially break out at the position. so I drafted two WR at the turn who I felt had the ability to do that for me. -

perhaps, but you need someone on the roster to start and I dont see anyone else on the roster I like. unless they think they can sign a free agent. ( I think there are a couple)

today's press release suggests you might be right. dude took off some weight in the offseason and is in shape. apparently he looks a lot quicker. thats no guarantee he will be better but it definitely tilts the odds in his favor
-
while I'm not a big fan of Geno, however stylistically Howell may fit the new system better, but he throws way to many INT for any system. that said, in the old days if a QB threw for almost 4000 yards with high int they would get another year to see if they could match or exceed that while lowering the INT. But they bailed on him quick. I dont love Howell. but right now Geno would be who I start because with him you dont get the picks. but I respect Howell has the better upside if he can clean up those interceptions(or at least get them less than 10 per year). It will be interesting to see how this plays out.

sorry. but not that sorry. you've been sniping my picks a lot this draft. its fitting I return the favor. at WR my choices were getting limited so the odds of it happening actually were pretty good.
