I figured this thread might be funny. feel free to post info on this 'important' development.
-
probably true. it also makes the offense more dynamic. once again I question whether he performs well enough late in the contract but for a couple years, Sequon is gonna be the man
-
I like the post. but the difference is the amount of guaranteed money with Jackson, a running QB who likely performs well enough over 2 or 3 years but likely doesnt perform at that level for the rest of the contract. running QB's are mostly done by 30 or 31 (often sooner) unless they can transition to become more of a pocket passer. Cousins contract guarantees all of year 1 and 2 and if he doesnt perform, the buyout at that point shouldnt be too bad. and I think he likely has 2 good years left. after that it does get dicey but hes not got a lot of guaranteed money at that point. its a completely different level of committment. he wont get you a superbowl, but he likely gets the WR onto the next stage of their development which wasnt gonna happen with any other QB on the roster.
-
well, maybe not that cheap, but I'm thinking 3-4 M should be the max you should be paying this guy unless you expect him to start a significant number of games. even if that is the case...., I'd do a base salary of (lets say 4M) and a bonus based on games started and maybe wins as well.
-
true. this is still a band aid solution. Cousins likely only has a year or two left in the tank. team needs a permanent solution at some point.
-
yeah, I dont know about this. 10M? for Darnold? maybe hes the backup and they draft someone. so maybe you pay a bit more for him because he may have to start a few games, but Yeeesh. That said, the Vikings were running with an old QB in Cousins. he likely had a year or two left only and is he worth the cash? likely cousins didnt want to sign a contract without a pile of guaranteed money. hes been all about the money since day one. (one reason I was never a huge fan) long term maybe this is the right move. but there are certainly growing pains associated with that move. Thats for sure
-
I hear you. Granted he wasnt the first option in the offense so there is some meat left on the bone. he can do better if hes not the #2. but hes also against #1 corners instead of #2 corners. so these things dont always work out the way you think they will. there is considerable risk in signing a guy like this unless you already have a 1A type WR where they form another dymamic duo. maybe one where he is the lead dog instead of the 1A
-
sadly there is a fair chance that he is done. I'll of course at some point take a look at the injury and see what the chances are of him coming back from it. if my memory is correct it was an achilles and that is a bad injury for RB but not impossible to come back from. If he does come back, I'd bet it would be one more full year before hes ready for a starting role. That said, I know little about the seriousness of the injury and how invasive the surgery needed to be. and given his injury history, maybe the team just wants to move on anyhow. Behind this line, I'd say Henry is good for at least a year, maybe two and they can draft a kid to learn from him for a year or so before assuming starting duties.
-
he also likely thinks he could be some teams #1 WR. he may think hes overlooked in cincy.
-
agreed. London with a QB who can actually throw the ball is a very appealing option
-
this is a place where a guy like Henry makes sense. I think he fits the offense. Staying on a rebuilding Titans team made no sense.
-
I was thinking the same when I saw the move. dude has some serious butter fingers. cost the Chiefs at least one game with his drops. hes a nice player to have as depth, with a few gadget plays you can add to the playbook to take advantage of his speed, but at best hes a third WR on most teams. given his salary that made him a very easy cut to make.
-
it is certainly possible. I love the talent this guy has. I viewed him as pretty much a cant miss pick at the NFL draft in his draft year and he has not disappointed.
-
I dont know if hes that much of a dark horse.... hes a pretty damn good WR. another step in his development (assuming he hasnt peaked yet) and he could be deadly good.
-
This is the one thing some cant wrap their head around..... if we all agreed on who was the better player, trades would almost never happen and all drafts would be predictable. so I always welcomed the debate and usually enjoyed the argument. some enjoy it more than others and some take it personally but at the end of the day everyone is entitled to an opinion and if that opinion is different from your own, so be it. either way, with some luck his health will improve and he will pop by once in a while to stir things up. haha
-
Well Axe, all I can say is I wish you good health. despite everything there are more important things than football and I know enough to know if you dont have your health you dont have a lot. Hopefully this isnt your last hurrah but I've enjoyed our debates. We dont always agree but I've always respected your opinion. sometimes it was your delivery of said opinion that created some friction around here but the opinion itself was often sound. anyhow good luck. and take care.

Chiefs Projected $65 Million Star Predicted to Land With Eagles
Ray_T replied to Maximum Overkill's topic in FFToday Board
They can keep him if Kelce retires. (I do think there is a chance he might) That said it is way too early to be making predictions on this sort of thing. there are likely other players who wont return as well. Some who will be moved. I think it will be an interesting offseason. -
I think its far too soon to say hes the best ever. his career isnt even close to being over. I'd say hes been great so far. I agree. I have seen unimpressive QB's put up a solid QB Rating and thought to myself.... he wasnt that good. honestly the best rating for QB is wins, losses, playoff records and superbowls. The rest is just a tool for Agents to get more money for their player when negotiation time comes. one thing I will say about Mahomes..... this was perhaps the most impressive superbowl win for him (in my opinion) He did it with what I consider a mediocre group of receivers. Rice has shown some moxie but hes still a young, unproven player. The rest are meh. Kelce was good but a step slower than he used to be. I honestly did not think Mahomes could make it work with this group of WR. The fact that he did was impressive for me.

Chiefs Opponents Released - The Road to Super Bowl LVIII Is Paved With Home Games
Ray_T replied to AxeElf's topic in FFToday Board
I dont know. Certainly Mahomes is a great player, but if you look the Chiefs Defense has Quietly been one of the best in the NFL. This is not a one man team. -
If I hear the word "Dynasty" tied with Pats one more time!
Ray_T replied to tanatastic's topic in FFToday Board
This is the best Dynasty since the Pats Dynasty lol -
maybe. Usually I put my prediction up for superbowl. for some reason I didnt do that today. My prediction was that San Fran would win a reasonably close one. but I said that thinking..... if San fran gets more than 24 points, they likely win. if they dont..... KC has a good chance. and thats exactly how it played out. San Fran got the early lead, but KC kept hanging around. Then made it close, got a break on a turnover and suddenly the game turned on its head. but given how late it was in the game I knew that KC's experience would likely give them an advantage that may possibly go beyond skill. Turns out it did go beyond skill. it was a veteran team beating a younger, better team without experience. Thats what this is. They played subpar most of the regular season and all those mistakes and bad drops in the regular season disappeared come playoff time. While they did turn the ball over in this last game, it wasnt disasterous in terms of consequences. They still won. San Frans turnovers were a little more costly in terms of timing and the way it seemed to affect the flow of the game. for me, that was the difference.
-
100% correct. The Chiefs D has been the unsung hero of this team. very effective but nobody is talking about them.
-
Yeah I dont think there are any credible rumors the team isnt happy with him.
-
I'm ok with aggressive play calling but a gamble after san fran scored a TD was the one gamble I didnt agree with. a FG would have taken momentum away from them at that point in the game. San fran still needed to outscore them by a lot. a FG at that point in the game keeps the mountain SF needs to climb fairly large. instead the failed gamble gave the comeback life. I still think he is the long term coach for Detroit and he will learn from this. Team achieved this year. They will be back

Bland is only 24 years old. hes still on an upward trajectory in terms of his gameplay. Given how early it is in his career, the kid has a bright future if he can keep his life pointed in the right direction. Diggs is also a fairly young man (only 25) these guys are going to get better and there is no doubt that having all the DB's healthy makes it tougher for the opposing QB's to find room to throw the ball. dont get me wrong. the Dallas D Needs to grow still. They didnt look great in their last playoff game when it counted. but they are getting the playoff experience against top tier teams. Part of the problem in Dallas (admittedly) is they seem to have a very easy schedule nearly every year. They seem to Beat up those subpar perennial non playoff teams to the point where they really rack up their stats but still dont perform at a high level against the playoff calibre teams. (at least not that often) I'm not inclined to sugar coat this but Dak is now on the wrong side of 30. we have been talking about his potential for some time but hes been short on performance come playoff time. Hes getting to the point where he Needs to step up and be better. I think the defense will likely be ok at least for the next couple of years. After that, its hard to say where this team will go, but I dont see much more than a team that is good enough to make the playoffs every yea. I do not think they are a true contender for a superbowl.
