That time of year again: Camp injury news (Jaydon Blue)
Ray_T replied to Vikings4ever's topic in FFToday Board
ouch. Hopefully it doesnt keep him out too long. At least there is lots of time to recover. Mixon is one of those guys who gets hurt a lot but who is productive when he does play. If I can get him at a discount (which happens at least 50% of the time) I dont mind buying. for me its how far does he slide and am I willing to bear the risk on this. Admittedly I did well with him in a lot of my drafts last year but I've also been burned by him in the past too. so I'm very strict on not overpaying for this guy. The injury report may scare a lot of people away so I'm expecting it may be a good healthy discount for him due to the pre season injury. -

hardly a ringing endorsement for either player. I suspect the first one who shows signs of a higher understanding of the offense will get the job. it feels like this is still a toss-up. but if they actually want Jones to win the job I guess we have to give him the edge. That is a bit surprising. usually teams want the guy they drafted to win the job so they really must be unhappy with Richardson. -
the only thing that likely keeps him from doing it is injury. though the stats show after a year with that workload not a lot of RB's repeat. and usually it is because of injury. not sure how that correlation works. maybe the high workload causes the injury I think thats the current line of thinking. but I am with you. if fully healthy, Barkley should repeat

is that what the early cam reports are saying? I have not yet started paying attention. I've been in work hell so paying less attention than usual -
it also depends on the scoring too. In the early days of IDP, I was in one IDP league I had the scoring was tilted towards tackles made. which actually was counter productive because the better corners dont get thrown to as often and as a result, dont make as many tackles. so a defender that maybe is good at making the tackle after the catch, but not good at keeping their man from catching the ball could score better than an all star corner who makes a decent number of INT and then dont get thrown to once opposing offenses realize how good they are. the reality is the better player is the guy who gets the INT and doesnt get thrown to. but in this scoring format the guy who maybe isnt that good but always makes the tackle shortly after the catch is made would outscore that player. which really runs counter intuitive to what it should run. Needless to say.... I thought this was stupid so I quit the league after my first year and have not been in an IDP league since. this league I was in was in the early early days of IDP so I suspect the rules have evolved and improved since that time but I suspect there is still some of this in play today.

is your nickname 'Master of the obvious'??? just curious.....

if it gets to a point where he is missing a significant part of camp then I'd get concerned. its important to get decent face time with your QB to maintain that connection. if he misses significant time in the pre season it could affect his numbers in the early part of the season. for now, I'd treat it as a nothingburger, but if this becomes prolonged and evolves into the situation I mentioned above then I'd start to discount his value.

fair points.

I remember reading something of this too. I got no link. dont remember where I read it. I couldnt even tell you if it was a reputable source. it was on my list of things to research as draft day approached. I'm drafting late in nearly all my keeper leagues so even if hes left unprotected its unlikely he would fall to me. so for that reason I didn't really follow up on this report to see if there is any merit to it.
-
I think the reason he would make this deal is CMC is probably now at a point in his career where he is a declining asset. an Injury prone player fast approaching the age of 30. hes 29 and has missed significant time in 3 out of the last 5 seasons. if he gets hurt and misses more than a couple of games hes probably getting nothing (or close to nothing)for him next offseason. the only reason to keep a player like this is if you think you can win this year if he stays and remains healthy (or at least is healthy for the fantasy playoffs) if his team stays healthy I guess he could win, but there is an awful lot of injury prone players on his roster. odds are good that at least one gets hurt (possibly two) so I'm inclined to say hes not likely a true contender. from my perspective if you dont think you have a winning team the smart move is to sell of any aging vets in a dynasty or keeper format if you are able. If I were him I'd definitely shop CMC before pulling the trigger on this offer (or counter to see if I could get more) but the truth has already been stated. its tough to get full market value on guys like this. Especially with the injury history CMC has had. I wouldnt even make an offer on CMC unless it is a situation where my odds to win are greater than 50% if he somehow manages to stay healthy all year long. We all have our preferences. I tend to shy away from aging vets unless I'm getting a bit of a discount for the risks associated with it.

I will fully admit, I do love players who are playing for a contract. I also have found that good RB are far harder to replace than good WR. Having a top RB to anchor your team is something that a person should do. that said, if the option to trade back in the draft exists I'd certainly consider it (providing I'm not going back more than one or two spots) but I think Bijan or Sequon are pretty good choices at 1, but myself I am mostly indifferent about which one I get. I'd probably lean Sequon but thats my heart talking. but I am pretty sure if you could trade back to 3, you likely get one of them anyhow. or you get Chase who you already like. its a win win. you also get another asset in the trade for trading back.

either way, the important thing is I dont think anybody here would be onboard with a veto. and normally when I look at whether to veto a deal I dont just look at present value. I look at futures too. and taking that into account the deal makes sense for both sides. unfortunately some leagues will veto a deal just because they dont like it and it gives someone a very good chance at winning it all. but in my opinion that is not a reason to veto a trade. the deal needs to be one where you cannot understand why one party would make that trade. and the deal needs to reek of collusion. I honestly dont think either applies here. I can actually see why he would want to make a deal like this. I can also see why TBay would too. for those reasons, I would not veto under any circumstance unless you can prove some sort of collusion. even then.... the trade looks fair taking both present value and future value into account. so my answer TBay..... I dont think you need to concern yourself with this one.

a good RB who puts up yardage both rushing and receiving should be about to put up more fantasy points than a WR2 in most formats. in his case Taylor (or CMC if he makes the trade) is his RB2. and I see no reason why you would bench either to play any WR2 out there. clearly this is why hes looking at the CMC deal. I get it. if the guy is healthy, that puts him over the top for the year. I'm just not sure he is healthy. Btw: I do like the team you've put together. Nice job.

hey guys, I'm totally sorry. I wont be able to do it. I really want to but there is too much going on and I have some work commitments I cannot get out of. I would be happy to return to do this next year, but I cannot do it this year.

Quinshon Judkins arrested for domestic violence

he would have been lawyered up before the media knew about it I'm pretty sure. Pretty sure his agent got involved real quick to make sure his client stayed as clean as possible. if he doesnt get paid the agent doesnt get paid and I'm sure that the agent is earning his salary with this kid. as for the 9AM thing. I have a family member who used to drink. he was fine while drinking but when he stopped drinking he would get very moody and sometimes downright nasty. for some it happens when they are drinking. for others they get nasty just as the hangover is about to kick in. if they partied til the sun comes up (not unheard of at that age) 9AM sounds like exactly the time when this sort of incident would occur. I am not saying thats the way it went down, all I'm saying is 9AM isnt as unreasonable a time for this as you would think. -
I was gonna ask why you want to make this deal, but I guess that is obvious. what I dont like about CMC is his injury history. but then again Taylor also has been injured a fair bit. JT has also been injured a bit. playing 11, 10 and 14 games the last 3 years. both players have been injured though When CMC gets injured the year tends to be a writeoff. he is the ultimate boom bust player. But CMC is 29. This is likely his last kick at the can in terms of putting up elite numbers. JT is 26. so you are giving up potentially a lot of futures...... but if you think this trade gives you a championship you should consider it. I wouldnt be inclined to veto this. the other guy is giving up some present value but gaining an awful lot of future values. This is truly one of those trades that could burn you as easily as crown you king of the league. its a coin flip. but in a years time he will still have a Jonathan Taylor and a solid second QB and CMC will be 30. At that point he could be untradeable. anyhow, I'd definitely say no to the Veto. I just put forward an argument that there is a legit chance you may not actually win the trade. That should be enough unless you are in a veto happy league.

what set him apart was the strategies he did. they were solid. but more importantly the under appreciated part of his game was developing undrafted players into viable NFL starters. during his time in New England the Pats did a really good job of this. whether this is 100% him I cannot say. generally coaching is just as much a team sport as playing. he had good people under him that developed a lot of 2nd tier talent into players who can start. for me, this was the most impressive of his achievements. he and Pete Carroll at one point had the best record for developing Undrafted players into NFL starters. for the most part, they stood apart from the rest of the league. and with any team coaching is part x and O analysis but part of it is training and teaching and developing young players and preparing them for the game.

or minimal suspension. if there is a video from the mall, the league could conceivably suspend him anyways. either way. you dont want to be suspended during your rookie season. thats the time when you learn the most. not a good start. -
I'm not sure any RB can do that with the raiders. Maybe Sequon. He got 10 in 2022 with the Giants and they were pretty bad too. (at least their line was)

ouch. good way to stop your career before its actually started. -
for fantasy yes. But the team is also trying to develop a QB. The extra pressure of not having a defense that can perform may not necessarily be good for the development of the player. there is also a point where the bad defense really does hinder the QB numbers. if its a bad run D the other team can run the ball all the way down the field and kill off a good chunk of the quarter. so you want a D that defends the run well and gives up plays in the pass game. (for fantasy purposes) that is the sweet spot for fantasy if you have a very good QB running the offense

ok point made. it has happened twice.

I'd be surprised if he falls into round 3. I'm just telling you where I assess the risk.

yep and people have been drafting people coming back from ACL surgery ever since because one phenominal athlete came back from the surgery in 8 months (or something stupid like that) and performed like a champ. I dont think I've ever seen this happen before or since. ADP is just one hell of an athlete with some kind of superhuman abilty to heal from injury. Others would call him a freak of nature (in a good way) to that end, I never put people on a DND list. I always project a value taking the injury(and risk associated with it) into account and when I hit that point I pull the trigger. but I am very meticulous about how I apply my modifiers when I make adjustments for injury. often it gives me an advantage, but sometimes I blow it. there are times when you project a guy to return in 24 months and draft him and guess what.... hes not ready or it turns out hes done. that happens too. like it or not an ACL injury still has the potential to end the career of some players. its not as common as it once was, but it still will occasionally happen. so its not an exact science. its mostly about calculating the odds and getting it right. and when you pick a guy coming back from an ACL tear there is still like a 3-5% chance that injury was a career killer. likely a 3% chance he recovers like ADP did. but for the rest, its typically 16-20 months. +/- a couple months.

I also agree he is the real deal. in the draft analysis I looked at the tape and found his to be the most impressive. then I stupidly went out and spent a lot of draft capital to take Caleb in my keeper league because I felt he had better talent around him and was more likely to make an early impact. I rejected my own analysis because I felt the situation was better and Caleb had far better WR and I've regretted it since. this kid is so good that none of that actually mattered. I'd be surprised if he regressed and if he does it will be a mild regression. This kid has it. There is no denying that.
