well, superbowl rings are the goal of every player and coach. its not a terrible standard to go by. sure stats are good too, but both matter. arguably superbowl rings count more. If building a team I'd take the clutch QB who steps up his game when it matters anyday over the guy who has good stats but doesnt seem to have another gear when the playoff game is on the line.

If Mixon is out, which backup gets the carries, or is it rbbc?

well, if he plays, that makes this thread redundant. -
https://ca.yahoo.com/sports/news/josh-mcdaniels-firing-raiders-cleaning-house-will-reportedly-cost-owner-mark-davis-around-85-million-231009273.html exceptional cost for this housecleaning boys and girls. 85 Mil. and the team is in shambles.

no, if they didnt sign the extension this would be a D+ but the extension is signed. whether this is fair market for his services (or not) is up for debate but they will have him for the next few years. if hes productive I'd say at the very least this is a C but could be as high as a B+ or A- if he REALLY performs. for now I'd give it a B-minus. I know some think they could have waited, but I suspect if the bears didnt buy someone else would have. Players of his talent dont grow on trees and getting him for a second round pick isnt bad. at this point its about what he delivers in the next 3 years or so. I have no doubt the Bears D will be a whole lot better now. when you can get a pass rush on the opposing QB consistently there is less pressure on the corners. I do agree there are questions about whether this should have been the priority but you can win with a mediocre offense and a championship Defense. and the Bears seem to have a good nose for putting together a defense. They just have no clue when it comes to making an offense work.

QB Changes: Aidan O'Connell LV, Taylor Heinicke ATL Are In
Ray_T replied to Mike FF Today's topic in FFToday Board
I guess it comes down to how committed is the team to Riddler? I think if it gets to a point where they are clearly out of the playoffs I think they may go back to him. if Heinicke actually strings together a couple of wins here and look to be playoff bound, I fully agree that job becomes his (at least for this year) -
Instant Fantasy Analysis - WR Tee Higgins, Bengals

its possible you missed the window to buy low, but if you can buy him at a reasonable price I'd get him. hes a solid WR2 for fantasy with occasional WR1 production -

agreed I picked him up in my 12 team 2 QB league (which is almost the same as superflex) when Cousins season came to an abrupt end. my only issue is we dont know if hes in for the year or if he is just in for a game or two while the coach up riddler some. but I took the chance as he had more upside than the other scrubs available on the wire in my league -
ouch glad I didnt pick him up when Cousins got hurt in my 2 QB league

Williams is the official backup. but if you look at his usage there is no way to tell that he will be the man. if desperate, you grab Williams (as he is listed as #2 on the depth chart) and hope for the best. but if not desperate, I dont know that I'd waste the FAAB money -
you know, it doesnt seem to matter how bad the steelers are. they usually manage to finish with as many wins as they do losses (or at least close) I dont know that I'd rank them bottom 3 but If I had to watch this team play with no knowledge of who they were or what record they had.... I would not have bet that this was a 5-3 team just by watching them play. I would have guessed sub .500. but they seem to get lucky at the right time (or step up their game at the right time)

no based on stats hes ok. But in terms of his skillset very average in a lot of ways but not elite in any aspect.

Instant Fantasy Analysis - WR Nico Collins, Texans

whats going on there? -
I would fully agree that you are right on this. I do think hes doing all this on the assumption that his QB (and his offense) grows and improves enough that this combined with a REALLY good defense will be enough to make it back to the playoffs. not sure how realistic that assumption is but it is not unreasonable to expect the offense will improve at least some. the question is whether this will be enough.

its just a situation where teams now have some film and defenses are making adjustments so they dont get burned by these guys so badly. so as players they will have to make their own adjustments. sometimes that process is quick (a couple games) sometimes it is slow (a full season) and most often sometimes in between. I think he will be fine when the matchup is good. I'd be a little more careful about starting him against those good defenses now. -
not picking on them. I've seen other teams do things far more stupid than this too. but today we are talking about the bears. personally I do think at the very least they would have reached out to the agent and the player to at least see if there is a desire to re-sign there. it doesnt take much to do that. This is the sort of thing that is more common in hockey where teams trade players a lot more, but its typical to make a deal subject to being allowed to speak to the player and/or his agent to see how he feels about playing there. if that is a question, you should not pay full value. its that simple.
-
that is a very good question. I suppose his ability to play(at least in the first week or two) will depend on a couple things: 1) how similar is this system to the one they ran in Arizona 2) how quickly can Dobbs learn the playbook. if the playbook is similar I could see Dobbs getting up to speed quickly and being possibly just as productive as he was in Arizona. Possibly slightly better. if he does somehow start this week I wouldnt start him unless you absolutely need to.

as long as walker is in, this is a good choice. problem is... walker is likely a short term band aid.
-
I dont think you should be so lucky. Mayfield has been just good enough for them not to turf him early. They are 3-4, a half game back of the division lead. while the record isnt great, if they can get a bit more out of him through scheme or coaching they still have an outside shot at a playoff spot.
-
I have to think that if they were spending this kind of draft capital they would have (at the very least) had some contact with Sweat or his agent. its an expensive rental if they dont expect to make the playoffs. my best guess is they expect to sign him. it is the only logical plan that makes any sense. They may even have a deal (in principle) in place already. if they have reason to want him long term I would think they wouldnt be so stupid as to not reach out to find out if the player is willing to play there long term. That said... it is the bears. I've seen them do things far more stupid than this.

All I know is my 2 QB league is in trouble. Cousins was one of my starters. Team is 7-1 but likely not a contender anymore unless I can get another QB
-
if he was a few years younger.... maybe. but the bottom line is hes old and has been away from the game too long. The time it would take to get him up to speed would make a Kaepernick signing difficult even if he was willing to take a backup QB salary. at this point if he truly wanted to get back in the game he should have swallowed his pride and taken a job on someones practice roster so he can prove he can still play. Much as I'd like to see him get a second chance, most GM's want a guy who can help them today and Kaep is not that guy. due to his time away from the game hed need to be on the roster at least 4-6 weeks(likely longer) to have any chance of seeing the field and the QB needy teams need help today. in 4-6 weeks it would be too late.
-
I agree. arguably if they were up 21 the story might be different, but in a 2 score game the starter doesnt get pulled.
-
FU to Hopkins who went off after I took him out of my starting lineup this week.

no, there is definitely a staged approach. especially if its a more serious concussion. they start with rest and no physical activity. once you pass that stage, then they will allow you to work out. but if symptoms return after you start working out you revert back to stage 1. if they dont then they will allow you to play with the non contact jersey while they do neurological tests. I do think there is another stage in there but I forget what it is. and at the end once you pass everything and have no concussion symptoms return they give you the green light to play.
-
I think they wear the non contact jersey while they practice.
