    zach wilson, qb, nyj

This is what I expected. Simien is a nice signing but its gonna be at least 3-4 weeks til he knows enough of the playbook to start. 2 weeks if hes a real fast study but I wouldnt bet on that. Most of the QB's who are that quick in learning the playbook are probably your high end starters.

    Christian Watson - Hamstring Injury

if you have good depth at the position, I'd probably wait a week til I start him. if your depth is lacking maybe you roll the dice. but it does sound like hes progresssing nicely.

    Handcuff or take a flier?

well, I always try to make my pickups based on how the player is expected to perform in the current situation. But a handcuff can be a cheap way to back yourself up in the event there is a lack of decent RB's on the wire. It sounds like you have a lot of RB's on your roster already. how many do you start? and are the rules standard or PPR?

Head to head match-ups suck sometimes.

C'mon guys. This doesnt need to be a thread for personal attacks. a guy is allowed to complain about his crappy luck. at the end of the day you stay the course. your team is performing. You just got unlucky with the matchup. These things usually even out over time. You will be fine.

    Da Bears

this is a hail mary play when your team has close to a zero chance of winning. They you throw in fields and hope he rushes for 110 yards and a TD. At that point you can live with the 150-200 yards passing he puts up because the rushing more than makes up for it. problem is we have not seen games like this so far this season so its a tough bet to make.

TNF Discussion: Lions @ Packers Wk 4

fully healthy? maybe. but with a Gimpy WR and A Jones out? No. as it stands it sounds like they both have a chance to play but I guess the question will be how effective they will actually be? If I was setting the spread I'd probably have it at like 4.5 points or 5.5 points rather than the 1.5 points that we see. I guess that's close enough to say they are competitive if you wanna get technical about it. but its on the fringe in my opinion. the Defense is better than the Lions, but the Lions offense is superior to theirs.

    Nico Collins or Tank Dell

if Stroud throws like he has been all three Texans receivers could be legit flex options in most formats. my league starts 3 WR so Niko has already had starts for me this year.

Kaepernick pens a letter to the jets

I have to agree (at least in part). It is tough for a young NFL QB to learn if hes fighting for his life behind a suspect O line. honestly thats a good way to ruin a young QB prospect. It never ceases to amaze me that teams will pay all kinds of draft capital on a rookie QB, even trading away multiple firsts to move up in the draft and then not invest in the O line to protect their investment and give him the extra time in the pocket he needs so he can learn the game better and get up to speed. its crazy. That said, maybe there is more going on here that we are not aware of. its highly unusual for a team to show this low level of confidence in a rookie QB drafted early in round 1. Yet here we are. O line not addressed and team showing zero confidence in their QB. go figure.
  9. I agree. in week 1 I noticed Cooks getting open on a fair number of the routes he ran even if he didnt get the targets. week 2 he was injured week 3 he looked pretty good. got decent targets but not a lot of production. I know at least one or two of those targets was a bad throw as Dak was under pressure. but I feel like he is playing well enough where I'd say the numbers and stats will come along eventually.

    Week 4 waiver wire adds

I dont mind Robert Woodss as a waiver wire pickup. technically hes leading Houston in targets through 3 weeks. hes the vet WR on that roster. You could do worse.

    Da Bears

desperate times.... personally I dont think that offense is a fit for his skillset. I expected they would have him doing more designed QB runs but it feels like the team is trying to stay away from this sort of thing. I see the attractiveness of having a QB in a standard offense who can add the running ability but sometimes thats not a natural fit for the player. I know he has some rush yards but the half game I watched it feels like they are in some respects trying to make him more of a drop back passer. If I was coaching him I'd do a lot more bootlegs and QB draws to keep the defense offbalance. I just didnt see a whole lot of that. Not enough anyways. That still doesnt fix his arm and ability to throw, but it buys him some time to win games with his legs until his throwing arm develops to a point where he can rely on it.

    Trade offer

so trading Mostert for some beer? sounds good

Kaepernick pens a letter to the jets

maybe so, but I do think he was good enough to be a backup qb. what we dont know is how far his actual skill has eroded due to non use from that time til now. its not like he retired and came back one or two years later.. hes been out of the game for multiple years now. Lets put it this way..... if teams didnt jump on the wagon 2 or 3 years ago when this was an actual possibility, they are not gonna jump on the wagon today.

    Trade offer

I'd rather have Barkley. if on the other hand you are actually talking Barley (the grain) then I'd take Mostert. and yes, I AM a SMARTASS
  15. thats a nice pickup if you are successful. I said we needed to wait after Toney's week 1 but now 3 weeks are in. hes at a point where you may be able to drop him. hes a streamer against weak defenses but not much more than that.

    Nico Collins or Tank Dell

I just dont think the Baltimore offense is gonna be that productive. but I do think they will both have shining moments as well as days when they are not super productive. (as is the case with rookies) Lamar is not exactly known for his great throwing skills, its his running ability that makes him a great fantasy QB. but when he runs he is also taking away from the fantasy value of his WR's. so there is only so much upside for Flowers in that offense even if hes the #1 WR. both players should be rostered. and there will be weeks where it makes sense to start them both but it will be hit or miss much of the season I think. I do like Tanks upside a bit more but thats my personal preference. value of both is fairly similar.

Mike Williams Out for the Year - Torn ACL

I agree, this convo does not belong in a fantasy football thread. I will exit this conversation now.

Mike Williams Out for the Year - Torn ACL

he doesnt talk to us lonely Peons. and if he did that person has likely been told by the rest of us hes lost his mind and is on anti psycotic drugs to treat that. so if God is talking to you, its best you dont tell the world about it.

Kaepernick pens a letter to the jets

How old is Kaepernick now? 35? 36? at this age and given how long hes been out of football I have to think hes fully off the radar by now. I was all for giving the guy another shot back when he was younger and the whole sitting for the anthem was a thing for him. But now at this age, having been out of football as long as he has, hes mostly a liability now. You'd never get him to learn the playbook and get back up to speed to the NFL as it is today in time for end of season. You might as well sign a QB off of someones practice squad. At this point you are likely getting similar quality except the practice squad kid is still throwing footballs.

    Battle for the Basement

ouch. its funny because its true.
  21. Ray_T

    Da Bears

they will play the hell out of him. if he doesnt improve, they get a top pick for another QB. if he does, then maybe he stays. We all know which direction this is going at the moment. There is time to turn it around but I'm not betting on a turnaround. part of this could be coaching too. but thats not what the team will say when they turf him.
  22. Ray_T

    Joe Burrow

yeah his reduced mobility was magnified due to the poor line play. bad combination. good news is he did not re injure it. so I would think next week would be better. How much better? I cannot say. but better nonetheless.
  23. Ray_T

    Nico Collins or Tank Dell

sample size is too small at this point. if going strictly by # of targets Robert Woods is the #1 WR in Houston and then Nico and Then Tank but the reality is the targets for all 3 is fairly close and I think it will vary based on the type of defense the team faces. Nico is built like a true #1 WR hes big, tall, and can jump. Tank is not built like a tank. he's 5'8 and 165 lb. Now that teams know about him they will be working hard to jam him at the line. (seems like this may be the way to play the guy, I could be wrong) What we dont know is how he as a player will respond to that. I suspect we are about to find out. but I would expect against physical defenses who like to jam at the line, Nico and Woods will get the bulk of the targets still. during garbage time against zone defenses and against softer defenses who dont do a lot of jamming at the line I could see Tank's targets ramping up significantly.

MNF Discussion: Eagles at Buccaneers - Wk3

yes. probably the last 2 drives (possibly 3) also qualify.
  25. Lets not panic. last week was a bad gamescript. while I do agree his lower production is partly due to poor team play (and line play) I do think there will be better days ahead for him. they wont all be like last week.
