far more likely he makes 8-12 carries and gets injured and misses half the season. honestly in real football you start the best player until they get hurt. not sure why they didnt start him in week 1 but after a performance like that you really cant justify sitting him. He literally kicked the door down and forced the team to play him. cant argue with that.

I think if he doesnt show signs of progressing by end of year they may bail on him. especially if they are so bad that they get a top draft pick. if that happens its new QB time

you are right, not Mattisons fault. but the way the line looked, his style isnt an ideal fit. granted its easy to criticize when the line was completely dominated at times. I'd argue more of the problem is in that poorly performing O line. the fumble cousins had was because the LT let the defender literally walk right through him strait to the QB. he was little more than a turnstile. didnt even slow the guy.

ok fair enough. I assumed he was on a rookie contract still. so in this case they probably could have given him a sweetener in terms of incentives(which would have made some sense to keep him happy)

well, who else were they gonna use? the line completely pushed the Vikings front around. it was a total mismatch (which helped a lot)

correct me if i am wrong. if you are on a rookie contract there is no amending the contract. otherwise everyone would be doing it. you play to the end of your rookie deal and the contract is laid out before you even sign and its based on your draft position. No amendments no adding bonuses. as a RB you are almost better off getting drafted in round 2 so you become unrestricted earlier in your career(no 5th year option). which is a bit crazy but that seems to be the way with RB now.

well, the onside kick was a total failure, but Kirk Cousins had himself a nice fantasy night which helped my fantasy team. the vikings also covered the spread for those of you who care. honestly if that fumble didnt happen in the first half to rob the vikings of a TD, this could have been a viking victory. I know, coulda woulda shoulda. at least it was a good game.

this was a game I figured the vikings might lose. That being the case, the gamescript would be favourable for Cousins late in the game (as it is now)

honestly, this D gives a 3-5 point advantage on most weeks. why would you trade them unless getting a legit upgrade elsewhere. I have this D in one of my leagues and It would take a far higher value player than most are (or should be) willing to pay to get me to trade them. bottom line: because people generally are not williing to trade anything of value for a defense, the right move is not to trade them.

this doesnt fully make sense to me. if the plan is not to resign (or to get rid of the guy) I'd run the guy into the ground. I certainly wouldnt be looking to preserve his health so he can play well for someone else when hes gone.

I doubt the team would have been dumb enough to tell him this. most teams dangle the carrot and make promises if he produces. but even so, he should be treating this as an audition. Free agency is next year. best way to get a big contract is to put up some huge numbers.

cousins is pretty good. underrated QB and his teams Defense isnt good which means he cant play conservative. he needs to put up points. dont get me wrong I like Goff and Richardson too but I prefer Cousins.

your instincts are pretty good. you knew the answer all along. but if you needed a second pair of eyes to confirm it, there are now two of us who agree with you.

given what has happened with RB's this last offseason, the best way he can maximize his value is to have a huge season. pissing around like this and sitting injured when in fact you are not will only make teams question your character if the word got out on that. I, for one, wouldnt want someone like that on my team. I'd go in a different direction even if the player is less talented.

I dont think they have another game like they had against the Cowboys. Everything that could possibly go wrong there did. even when the cowboys fumbled, the ball went straight to another cowboy. field was tilted heavily. you cant count on this being the norm.

we are no longer talking about when to draft him. draft has happened already but I am trying to figure out how this situation affects his value (in trade or other)
