Mike Williams Out for the Year - Torn ACL

he doesnt talk to us lonely Peons. and if he did that person has likely been told by the rest of us hes lost his mind and is on anti psycotic drugs to treat that. so if God is talking to you, its best you dont tell the world about it.

Kaepernick pens a letter to the jets

How old is Kaepernick now? 35? 36? at this age and given how long hes been out of football I have to think hes fully off the radar by now. I was all for giving the guy another shot back when he was younger and the whole sitting for the anthem was a thing for him. But now at this age, having been out of football as long as he has, hes mostly a liability now. You'd never get him to learn the playbook and get back up to speed to the NFL as it is today in time for end of season. You might as well sign a QB off of someones practice squad. At this point you are likely getting similar quality except the practice squad kid is still throwing footballs.

ouch. its funny because its true.

    Da Bears

they will play the hell out of him. if he doesnt improve, they get a top pick for another QB. if he does, then maybe he stays. We all know which direction this is going at the moment. There is time to turn it around but I'm not betting on a turnaround. part of this could be coaching too. but thats not what the team will say when they turf him.

    Joe Burrow

yeah his reduced mobility was magnified due to the poor line play. bad combination. good news is he did not re injure it. so I would think next week would be better. How much better? I cannot say. but better nonetheless.

    Nico Collins or Tank Dell

sample size is too small at this point. if going strictly by # of targets Robert Woods is the #1 WR in Houston and then Nico and Then Tank but the reality is the targets for all 3 is fairly close and I think it will vary based on the type of defense the team faces. Nico is built like a true #1 WR hes big, tall, and can jump. Tank is not built like a tank. he's 5'8 and 165 lb. Now that teams know about him they will be working hard to jam him at the line. (seems like this may be the way to play the guy, I could be wrong) What we dont know is how he as a player will respond to that. I suspect we are about to find out. but I would expect against physical defenses who like to jam at the line, Nico and Woods will get the bulk of the targets still. during garbage time against zone defenses and against softer defenses who dont do a lot of jamming at the line I could see Tank's targets ramping up significantly.

MNF Discussion: Eagles at Buccaneers - Wk3

yes. probably the last 2 drives (possibly 3) also qualify.
  8. Lets not panic. last week was a bad gamescript. while I do agree his lower production is partly due to poor team play (and line play) I do think there will be better days ahead for him. they wont all be like last week.

    Joe Burrow

if someone is promoted from the practice squad I'd say the chances of him sitting are good. obviously things can sometimes change over a half a day but this is not a good sign. at the end of the day if there is any risk to re-injure I hope they do the right thing and let him sit. Otherwise they could be without him for a while.

Mike Williams Out for the Year - Torn ACL

Quentin hasnt had a lot of action thus far. I had hoped he would push for the WR2 spot but there appeared to be very little push. Some teams do bring along their WR's more slowly than others so it may not be about that. The talent IS there. its just a question about what the coach thinks. Hes the man making the call on this.

    Concussion Consmushion

well, you know hes gonna produce while healthy. so you got him, just make sure you have a valid plan B. Thats all. just take the necessary precautions so you dont get suck with no QB. Its not rocket science. keep 2 QB instead of one. lots of teams keep 2 anyways. in this case its a bit more necessary than typical as I will admit I usually only carry 1 QB after the bye week is done. Some carry only one all year long. its mostly a know your league thing. some leagues tend to keep a backup on the roster some dont. so your need to do this may vary by league.

    Battle for the Basement

I have to believe that the broncos are better than the bears, but this 70 point drubbing has given me doubts haha. but both teams are really, Really Bad

    Concussion Consmushion

on another thread I said he would put up QB1 numbers while his health holds. so far it is holding. the issue is we dont know if it will hold or how long it will last. That said..... if you own him, ride the wave of good stats for as long as it lasts.
  14. the colts dont want to make a deal. it has become personal. this is being done to punish. if they wanted him gone, hed be gone.

UPDATE: Cam Akers - Traded to Vikings

maybe. like I said, the sample size is still too small to say for sure. The next 2 matchups are better. if he doesnt perform by week 4 I would guess they would replace him at that point. but right now this feels like an early season panic thread. Too early to draw conclusions from yet.

    Superflex QB Quandry

I think I'd go Love. I like the matchup better. Saints have been struggling so far. KC is a very good team. The defense is ok but the offense should be good enough to keep the D off the field against this Chicago team.

Watson or Stafford, Amon-Ra, Puka, or ...

honestly, the way both of them are playing a person wouldnt actually do badly by dropping the QB they have and pick up both these guys. They are lighting it up right now. Stroud is more risky but I like both players. why wouldnt you just pick em both up. Start one, and use the other as the backup?

    Dallas D/ST

well against New York he didnt have to do anything. he could have handed the ball off for the rest of the game, and so long as it wasnt a fumble, he would have gotten the win. his stats against the Giants were not actually that good but I think they ran a pretty conservative offense once it got to a point (I think early 2nd Quarter) where it was clear New York wasnt gonna put up a fight they dumbed down the offense some. took no risks. which is fine. thats what you are supposed to do. its not great for fantasy but it gets you the win you want. as for the Arizona game.... weak D. what else do you expect?

    TNF Discussion: Giants at 49ers - Wk3

I am surprised nobody is talking about the Waller drops. one he missed ended up being intercepted. it wasnt good. certainly not as bad as Toney in week 1 but bad enough. I was disappointed.

    Eagle RB

at this point, Penny is pretty low on the totem. he needs injuries to see meaningful action. he had his chance to win the starting job and blew it. it was rumoured they were gonna cut him. That said, Swift seems to get hurt every year. if it happens again, you have hope. but if Swift stays healthy for once Penny will have pretty close to a zero chance of seeing meaningful touches. Especially if Swift continues to play like he did last week. You just dont bench guys who do what he just did. Not unless you have a REALLY good reason.

UPDATE: Cam Akers - Traded to Vikings

I think you are looking too much at the stats and not enough at what the stats actually tell you. Eagles D? top 5 across the board. nobody will be running well against them except for teams with a top 5 O line. and The Vikings dont have that. I saw that game, and the line was manhandled for the most part. there were one or two good plays that were well blocked but in general I dont think a better RB would have done a whole lot better in that situation. Tampa D? pretty good. despite what people will say they are the only reason Tampa even sniffed the playoffs last year. 2 years ago they were a top run Defense. obviously with all the injuries on offense last year the Defense was on the field a whole lot more than they should have been so their numbers were not as good but they are still a top run stuffing defense in my opinion. and both games the game script went negative in the second half which didnt help so I was not expecting top numbers running the ball against these guys. The chargers, on the other hand are a much weaker run (and pass) Defense. if he cant run against them, then I'd start to agree with you. but its far too early and the sample size of games you are drawing conclusions from is too small and tilted towards tougher run defenses. Lets see what he can do against some weaker run defenses before we toss this guy to the wolves because I dont think its fair to do so at this point.

UPDATE: Cam Akers - Traded to Vikings

they acquired him 3 or 4 days prior to the game. they wont be playing him that much unless there is garbage time. usually when teams trade for players in the regular season it coincides with a bye so the player has time to learn at least some of the playbook before they put him out there. you cant expect players to play their best when they dont know what the play looks like. only exception i have seen recently is Baker Mayfield. but when he knows the play he stares down his receiver and tells the defense where hes gonna go. so for him it was actually an advantage to not know the play because he doesnt know what hes gonna do with the ball. so he couldnt possibly tip off the defense.

Cmon man, you know its fixed. of course they will spoil the spread at the end.

UPDATE: Cam Akers - Traded to Vikings

that might happen. but its not happening this week and likely not next week either. Akers likely at least needs 2-3 weeks to learn enough of the playbook to be useful. so in the interim, Mattison needs to play well enough to keep him off the field if he wants to remain the starter.
  25. Ray_T

UPDATE: Cam Akers - Traded to Vikings

I think Mattison remains the starter for now. Akers still needs to learn the playbook. I do think hes a nice insurance policy in the event Mattison cant get it done. but at the end of the day I think its Mattisons backfield and he has to now prove he deserves to keep it. if he plays poorly Akers snap share will gradually rise until we get to a point where management has to decide who the better back is. so for now, you have one starter. but that may change over time.
