    WR and RB starter help

I'd go with Owens and Driver and portis and brown. Although I'd keep an eye on the pitt situation up until your deadline to set the roster. if Pitt decides to start Rothlisberger, I'd make a last minute change to ward if possible.

    TO or Roy Williams

If TO is getting the start, you start him. not only is he a speed demon when fully healthy..... but he runs very good routes and his size makes him an excellent possession receiver. even if hes lost a step due to the injury, he will do just fine. his ego will see to that.

    Hines Ward or Jurevicius?

hines Ward is the man. Also, he is an excellent route runner. Inexperienced QB's tend to do better with this kind of receiver. it's guys who have tons of speed who tend to have trouble with a change of QB because timing becomes that much more important. Unfortunately, these things will take time. I expect Pitt will run the ball a lot.... and Ward will be the primary receiver on almost every pass play. see mine http://www.fftodayforums.com/forum/index.p...howtopic=228769

    Trade Driver/Jordan for Owens/K. Jones

I wouldnt make that trade. it appears that you may have a winning team there. I wouldnt mess with it.

Need help with free agent WRs

Isaac Bruce has been money in the bank his whole career. he got hurt last year, and it was mostly a wasted season. That being said...I think he has one more good year left in him before his numbers really start to decline. He'd be the one I would take. but if you like to take a chance, Curtis is a very good talent who will perform well enough to be a #3 WR but only if Bruce or Holt gets hurt. if Curtis takes over the #2 WR job, hes good for 900+ yards and 7-9 TD's. otherwise, hes probably good for 750 yards and 4-6 TD's. I'm not a big fan of Lee Evans. (mostly due to who is throwing him the ball) If I had to dump one of those guys, hed be the one. see mine http://www.fftodayforums.com/forum/index.p...howtopic=228769

    I'm in quite a predicament....

Well, with that being the case, I think you know what your best move is. you gotta cover the bye week sooner or later. and if this kid blows the doors off, you may find one of your other QB's is expendable to improve another area of your roster.

    Addai or Rhodes

well, if I had both Addai and Rhodes on my roster, I'd start Rhodes in week 1. I dont think Addai will put up any kind of decent numbers until mid season. but if fred taylor is an option for week 1 start him and dont sweat it. Taylor is a top end starter when hes healthy. and I'd like to think that he's at least got a few games in him at the start of the season. Hes the one you want. Start him until he gets hurt(likely game 5 or 6), Hopefully by that time your decision on who to start between addai and rhodes will have settled itself.
  8. Ray_T

    who to start?

Yeah, and I dont think this will change much. Its definitely a concern, there is no doubt of that.

    I'm in quite a predicament....

phil rivers is in a good system in San Diego. I think if he breaks out, you'll find he will have more value than any of those WR's. And with Farve being as old as he is.... I dont think this is a bad option for you. if you decide you need a WR bad enough, clayton is the one Id go for. I feel it's easier to replace a WR than a QB for the most part. see my link http://www.fftodayforums.com/forum/index.p...howtopic=228769

    TRAVIS HENRY VERSUS CHRIS BROWN

dude, I dont think this is a situation you want to worry about. neither henry or Brown will get a LOT of carries. Lendale white will work his way into the mix, and as a result, all 3 backs will not be worth keeping on your roster. if you have either of these guys, I'd consider dumping him if you have another player you can pickup.
  11. Ray_T

    Dominic Rhodes

Rhodes is decent, but at this point in the draft I'd have taken the bigger name. it was announced that Ahman Green is the starter. I'd give him a shot before Rhodes. he is actually available on waivers in my draft. If I didnt already have a ton of depth at RB I would pick him up. but he is not a guy that people pick until late in the draft (like last 3 or 4 rounds) either way, that's my opinion. also tommy jones may not be a bad late round pickup. even if he loses his job in chicago, he will get traded eventually and then he will light it up.

    RB depth/future value vs. Quality

do you know what? I think it's too early to make a trade for this team. If reggie bush and Addai both end up starting and having a good year, your depth just got a million times better. I also think that Mark Clayton has a good chance to rebound and have a year similar to his rookie year, and if Matt Jones has a big year, you may find your team is better than you thought. now I wouldnt count on all of this, but I do think that either Jones or Clayton will be good. but probably not both. I also think that bush will be a decent starter most nights but would not start him against top calibre run stuffing defensed. and Addai may turn out okay, but I wouldnt plan on it until the second half of the season. either way, one guy mentioned earlier that to get a top end guy, you gotta trade Fitz and I think hes right. and this hurts you (in my opinion) I'd hang tight and wait until week 3. if any of your rookies blow the doors off to start the season, you can guarantee that some sucker will come in and offer you a lot more for that rookie than he is worth. And that would be the time to sell and improve your depth. once you have a good idea of what your team can do, then you can look to improve by picking up free agents etc. or making trades.

Do I give up Ronnie Brown for Peyton

if you get 6 points for all TD's it's awfully tempting to make this deal cuz of the amount of TD passes manning will get. However, I dont like your depth at RB to make that deal. There are big question marks behind the names of every backup you have there, and it's actually possible that all 4 out of 4 of those wont be a starter for most of the season. While I agree a lot of them have potential and could be a full year starter, I wouldnt count on it. I would counter with something like this: Ronnie Brown and Kurt Warner (or Drew Bledsoe) For Peyton manning and a starting Calibre RB. (assuming he has one) Unfortunately I dont know what other players he has on his team, so I cant help you much more. But I think a deal like this would make more sense for your team.

Deion Branch news re: Traded to Seattle

Well, I agree branch is probably worth more than a 2nd. As seattles first round pick is so late in the first that it might as well be a second round pick I feel that it is conceivable that this may be where Branch's value lies. a High second or late first round pick. I have no doubt that NE should trade branch. if they managed to sign him now, I think that too many bridges have been burned and his presence would only disrupt the team now. I'm sorry, but this one is over. Branch will never be a pat again, and you guys who like him and are big NE fans had better get used to it. The Pats have always had a team first philosophy and this time, I think they decided to make an example out of branch. I do feel the offer they made was fair given his history, and receiving numbers. I also feel branch could put up better numbers on a team that doesnt do the 'receiver by committee' . Since Branch has shown he is a greedy player.... maybe this move is best for all concerned. after all, you are expected to honour your contract, so if you're gonna be locked up for 5 years + you had better be happy with your deal. As Branch is not happy with this, I dont see a resolution coming anytime soon cuz I dont think the pats will improve on the current offer in any significant way. (nor should they) if branch really wanted to be a pat, he'd sign a one year deal, and play his best to prove the last season wasnt a fluke. Then he can come back and ask for more money next year. A real team player would do this. But I dont see him making this kind of offer. He seems to want it all NOW. As such, I cant support him in this. I hope he sits all year long.

    RB ?

well, I think Ronnie Brown is good enough that I'd classify him as a starter no matter who he plays against.
  16. Ray_T

    Ask The Playmaker

okay, I have an interesting question and figure I could use an opinion. we start 2 RB's. Standard fantasy scoring. my first RB is Tomlinson who is a must start every week. my other RBs: Julius Jones Vs Jacksonville (ouch) Reggie Bush Vs Cleveland Kevin Barlow Vs Tennessee. Julius Jones is my #2, but against such a physical defense, I'm not sure he'll have a great game against them, so I thought it may be worth my while to look into playing the matchup instead. Reggie Bush plays what was a very weak team against the run last season in Cleveland. I know Cleveland acquired Ted Washington to help the run, and I think he will do the job, but, I feel this will only close up the inside running game. I would expect bush to use his speed to run wide on them or take dump off passes to burn them in the secondary. I know hes a rookie and this is a bit of a risk, but I'm considering this option based on who they are playing. Barlow also remains an option against another weak defense in Tennessee, but I think he is by far an inferior talent to bush and Jones. so if you have good advice, I'd like to hear it.

Deion Branch news re: Traded to Seattle

well, here is an interesting point of view: any team making an offer to branch, can offer whatever they wish for salary. The dilemma for branch is... if they agree to a contract, that contract essentially puts a value on the player. so if a team offers branch the money he is seeking, that means branch is more valueable and as such, the patriots should get more for letting him go. so the more money teams are willing to pay him, the more they pay to get him outta New England. I think its a good ploy by NE management. If branch gets big money, NE gets a better draft pick or more draft picks/players. if noone offers branch big money, then he realizes that NE made a fair offer. either way they win.

    Help Me With This TRADE

I dont like the deal Bledsoe could throw more yards than McNabb, but there is definitely more risk in a player like him. what if TO gets hurt or suspended? and Bledsoe hasnt consistantly been a top 5 QB overall. Hes actually had some godawful years. McNabb has consistantly been a top 5 QB in the league every year except last year (due to injury) and many of those years were with terrible receivers. To me, that says something about the quality of a player you are looking at here. you're downgrading your RB significantly in my opinion as well. you're also getting a slight upgrade on the WR position but I dont think this is worth what you're losing in other positions. as for kickers? their value is not significant enough to make a huge difference in the trade even if it is an upgrade. I'd say dont do this deal.

    Deion Branch

Branch is a #1 receiver and the pats offer was in that price range. what branch is claiming is that not only is he a #1 WR, but that he is worth elite #1 money. it is clear that Branch is not an Elite #1 WR. I am sorry. He has had 1000 yards receiving only once in his career. (last year) Agreed, he was superbowl MVP but I do believe that the pats offer took that into account. I think the pats are not being unfair. Hopefully branch will come to his senses sooner rather than later.

charles rogers turning heads in detroit

Associated Press (AP) It has just been announced that Charles Rogers has been placed on the PUP (Physically unable to perform) list. Apparently he had a papercut that got infected and they fear that they may have to amputate his left arm. If he recovers it is expected to take at least 8 weeks until he can get back into the lineup. We will bring you more information as this story develops

    Michael Clayton

I picked him up with my last pick of our draft. I think the problem with clayton is that he had such a good rookie season he set the bar very high for his second year. then he started slow and got hurt and never fully got into the groove. changing QB's didnt help either. you guys gotta remember, hes was only a second year pro last year. Veterans are better at bouncing back from things like injuries and change of QB etc etc. That's why they call them veterans. young receivers tend to be inconsistant until they get into their 3rd or 4th season. He will be a fine WR. the only question is... how long does it take for him to develop chemistry with Sims? Based on the question marks, hes probably not a guy you want as a starter, but I'd say he is an ideal backup who may become your starter if he puts things together again.
  22. Ray_T

Travis Henry to start in Tenn?!?

he has no value. he & henry will split carries with Lendale White. This is the worst situation. two backs splitting can still put up half decent numbers... but add a third back to the mix, and the most likely result: Nobody gets fantasy numbers worthy of even being a backup. I'd stay away from all of these guys unless it looks like one of the backs shows hes a cut above the rest. The most likely guy to do this is Lendale white... but it wont happen until late in the season or next year.

    Wayne or Driver?

I dont think there is any doubt about it. Wayne is your man.

Deion Branch news re: Traded to Seattle

Well, Branch is definitely a #1 WR and I think NE gave him #1 money. but he's not a top end #1. hes only put up top end numbers (1000 yds receiving) one time in his career. (this last year) and he has shown durability issues. caving in to him will go completely against the philosophy of the team which is 'TEAM first, individuals SECOND' the offer made to Branch is more than fair, and I dont think branch will find a better deal elsewhere. If he could, he'd be gone already. Why would any team that really wants him let him sit this long? Branch will cave, or his agent will get canned and he'll be in a pats uniform before game 3 of the season.
  25. Ray_T

Would you pick up D. Davis

well, if he goes on the PUP list, hes probably not worth picking up. if he does return, he probably wont be in game shape or well enough to perform at a high level for you.
