Bill Belichick is a Facade. Not a good coach!
Showboat replied to justforbeer's topic in FFToday Board
Well, that's very different from saying Belichick is not a good coach. -
The Vikings were actually very close to matching the Bills 4 straight Super Bowl appearances. If not for the original Hail Mary, the Vikings likely would have been in Super Bowl X (even though that was in the divisional playoff game and not the conference championship). That was probably the best overall Vikings team of that era.
-
Not sure exactly what it was called at the time (or if that really matters), but the Super Bowl era started when the NFL Champion Packers beat the AFL Champion Chiefs in January 1967. That was Super Bowl I, so the Jets-Colts game was Super Bowl III.

Solution: put a tear-off skirt on the QB. If the defender gets the skirt off the QB, it is a sack. If the defender actually touches the QB, it's a penalty. The other penalty that needs to be abolished is intentional grounding. If they really want to protect the QB, let him throw the ball away. Further, at least half the time I see it called, it's really just a case of the QB and receiver not being on the same page (like last night) where the receiver zigs when the QB expects him to zag.

Seems like an overpay. If Sweat was all that great, wouldn't he have made the Washington D better? That D has seemed to underperform despite a lot of hype. I don't know - sometimes a change of scenery helps a player but seems like a big gamble to me.
-
I wouldn't get too excited. I think all of his production was after the Seahawks had basically given up. He is still a decent dynasty stash as he was before this week.
-
Only problem - that stat line is impossible. It could be 4 carries, 2 yards, 3 TDs.
-
FU to McLaurin - do you realize that your team has a game scheduled for today?
-
I think I'd roll the dice with Watson.
-
It's reasonable thinking. It kind of depends on if you subscribe to the never bench your studs theory (and if you consider Moore to be a stud). He hasn't put up numbers but the targets have been there. I think he is overdue for a blow-up game. On the flip side, the Packers may load up against the run and force the back-up QB to beat them so Henderson is not without his own risk (plus Freeman could always vulture a TD).
-
I'd take a gamble Danny Dimes against the Raiders. I just don't think there will be many points in the Colts- Panthers game and the Colts will lean on the running game with Taylor and Moss.
-
Tough to bench Moore, because he is due for another explosion game. Downs has been hot, but it looks like he's a bit nicked up now. If there was any indication that he is not 100%, I think I'd bench him.
-
The Giants D has been playing well lately - I think I'd go with them against the Raiders rookie QB (though arguably it would be better if Jimmy G or Hoyer were playing). With the Falcons, the question is do they bounce back after the debacle against Levis or did the Titans expose something the the Vikings will also be able to exploit (even with Hall at QB).
-
Brown is a bit of a gamble with the new QB and a good Cleveland D. I think I'd go with Rice - Europe or not, I expect a lot of points in that game and you got to figure Rice will get in on some of that action.
-
So, Ford or Kmet? I agree with Ford. Kmet is a bit of a gamble because there is no floor - you just don't know if you are going to get week 7 or week 8. I am pretty much forced to start Stevenson so it's probably best to avoid starting him.
-
The matchup is great, but the risk is that he tweaks something again and taps himself out in the first quarter. It's difficult to start him with any confidence until he shows he can play a complete game. Maybe need to monitor what the Browns are doing with respect to a 3rd QB?

The real question is who is a good coach? Lombardi? Where would he rank without Starr, Hornung and Taylor? Noll? He didn't fair so well after the Steel Curtain got old and Bradshaw retired. Landry? Ditto in the post-Staubach era. Would Bill Walsh be considered a great coach without Montana and Rice? Shula wasn't able to win it all with Marino for nearly 20 years - is he an even worse coach than BB? Gibbs is an interesting case in that he won three titles with 3 (or 4) different QBs, but those teams were built around the Hogs. Jimmy Johnson built the juggernaut Cowboys that even Switzer couldn't screw up, but he wasn't very successful in his later stint with the Dolphins. Reid's Eagles couldn't break through - would he even be in the conversation if not for Mahomes? It is silly to think that any coach could have success without great players. I believe it was Parcells who would say that you are what your record says you are. The sustained success of BB is unprecedented for any coach, especially in the era of free agency. -
Agree, Lockett and Addison. The Vikings QB situation may give a reason to go with Hubbard, but didn't ATL just get torched by Will Levis?

Need a bye TE replacement for Kittle

Longer term maybe - this week with a QB making his first start against the Browns? No thank you. -

Of those options, Hill is the choice. Although he's provided no reason for optimism, Pitts is a tempting option on the potential that Heinicke gets him the ball, especially if London sits. -
Hmmmm,... Adams may just have Nuk Hopkins game this week.
-
Probably PJ - Jordan not showing much life.
-
I'd consider starting both Hunt and Ford and probably Smith.

The Lions need to get rid of those ugly drab uniforms.

Why do the Chargers still have the ball? I saw the replay and the INT clearly was on the ground. I stepped away and the Chargers have possession?
