    Bears get Sweat

They might have one, but I'm thinking one of two things happened if that's the case.... 1) They're going to over pay him or 2) Sweat is an idiot (like I said in earlier posts to Seafoam, I'm giving Sweat the benefit of the doubt that he's not an idiot and is willing to take market value (or less), to sign a long-term deal with a team going in the wrong direction). Of course, if he does sign for market value (or less), I could see the potential for this being another Allen Haynesworth situation. Dude got paid and said "thanks", and never really tried after that. Here's what I think actually happened. I think the Bears had no contact with Sweat or his agent. I think they traded for him with the intent to re-sign him and/or tag him, if they can't get a deal done. Even if they can't get a deal done, they'd at worst be able to trade him elsewhere and get their 2nd round pick back. Why do I think that? I can answer that with a question. When was the last time you saw them do something really smart? Yeah, me either.

My 2023 NFL Power Rankings Week 9

Rex was definitely like his dad in many ways. The Eagles were very much like that during Buddy's hay day.

You clearly follow the Jets more than I do, LOL. I don't know enough about Saleh to say that Rex Ryan is better than him.

    Bears get Sweat

Going by Spotrac.com, in that Sweat's market value is $25.5M AAV ($102M overall), I can see Sweat taking an extension for $30M AAV and/or the entire contract being guaranteed. Otherwise, I can't understand why he'd sign there. Like I said, the Bears aren't good and on a downward trajectory. Who would want to sign a long term contract there... unless they're getting overpaid?

My 2023 NFL Power Rankings Week 9

That's cool. I could see not having the Jets in there because of Wilson, but I think their defense can play at a championship level. They have a stud WR in G. Wilson and a stud RB in Hall. If Wilson doesn't fock it up, they could contend. Lamar is a run-first QB. If he's not, he's not that good as a QB. I don't think they have the roster/defense to compete in the playoffs to be a Super Bowl contender. I don't see Jacksonville as that either. Lawrence is quite overrated. He plays in a terrible division and has a soft schedule. No doubt they make the playoffs, but their time there will be short lived. If you'd want to put Baltimore or Jacksonville over the Chargers, I wouldn't argue. I do think the rosters of the 3 teams support the Chargers, but coaching definitely favors Baltimore and Jacksonville.

    Bears get Sweat

Ok, so you're giving the benefit of the doubt to the Bears, I'm giving it to Sweat. I don't see what the big deal is.

    Bears get Sweat

Do you know that the Bears had contract with Sweat?

Don't know. Like I said, I'm giving him the benefit of the doubt that he's not an idiot.

    Bears get Sweat

Common sense is all. The Bears are a bad team heading in the wrong direction. Sweat will be a free agent who's likely to command a $25M AAV worth $100M+. Only an idiot would sign that deal in that situation. Now, if you know that Sweat is an idiot, well then that's different. I don't know him personally, but I'm guessing that he's not an idiot.

    Bears get Sweat

From the Bears' perspective? No. From Sweat's? Yes. He's not going to re-sign. They only way he's in Chicago next year is if he's tagged. I can't imagine a guy signing his last chance pay day with a team who isn't on a positive trajectory. According to Spotrac.com, Sweat has a market value of $25M AAV over 5 years. The dude is 27 years old now. He's not going to sign back with the Bears unless they overpay him, by a lot.

My 2023 NFL Power Rankings Week 9

To be fair, I don't do "weekly" rankings. Just because a team is hot or cold in a short window, doesn't mean they actually all that good or great... bad or terrible. I rank teams based on their potential to win the Super Bowl. So my top 10 are... KC Cincy Philly San Fran Buffalo Detroit Miami Dallas Chargers NY Jets Baltimore, Seattle, and Jacksonville are replaced with Buffalo, NY Jets, and Chargers. If Cousins didn't get hurt, I'd have them in the top 10. Their last 9 games are very favorable. I'd figure a split with Detroit and loss to Cincy, but the other 6 should be wins (with Cousins), now?

    Bears get Sweat

This makes NO sense to me at all. They gave up a 2nd round pick for a guy who'll be a free agent at seasons end. Even if they plan on tagging him to keep him, that's just throwing gas on a fire. You're adding short term expense to a team not ready to compete. They're better off keeping the pick and hanging on to a 2nd round pick for 4+ years.

    Cousins Carted Off - Achilles

Hopefully the Vikings contact Tampa about acquiring Mayfield.

You have 3 teams in the top 5 that don't really even belong in the top 10.

    JFK

I'm ok believing that Oswald pulled the trigger... personally, I don't even care about that. But, I'm 100% sure that LBJ was behind the whole thing. Too many things happened that had to be in place ahead of time to where someone at the highest level of clearance.

    Lamar Jackson blows chunks.

This isn't new information. It's been like this his entire career.

    R. White Buy Low?

No. He's a guy where if you have him, you hang on to him in case you need him, but if you don't have him, you ignore his existence. Tampa's OLine is both solid and awful at the same time. Pass blocking, they're quite good, but run blocking, they're putrid. The Bucs are ranked 29th in the NFL in rush yards BEFORE contact. White isn't as good a RB as a lot of people hyped last year and around draft time. His vision is around average. That said, the OLine is making him a lot worse than what he really is. On top of that, no one respects Mayfield as a passer. Teams are routinely stacking the box because they know that Mayfield can't generate points with his arm.

Bill Belichick is a Facade. Not a good coach!

That's a very short-sighted statement if you're trying to compare Tom Brady in Year 7 to Pat Mahomes in Year 7.

    Christian Watson

I cut him to pick up Josh Downs. I'm at the point where I think Watson's screwed because Love blows, the team doesn't want to pass because he blows, they have 2 capable RB's, and they have a bunch of young players that are getting rotated around. Watson has the talent, but to me, he's not even rosterable in a re-draft league. I'd cut him for anyone that I think I would need to start at some point.

    2023 MLB Playoffs

I really thought the Phillies were going to beat the Astros. But I always put a bet or 2 in on teams that I think are reasonable long shots. I put in Arizona over Texas, but then my brother said that if you're only betting $2, just take the flipside incase you have the right teams, but not the right order. Last year I had the Astros beating the Phillies... I think we had a Shark Tooth contest last year on that and I won the shark tooth!!! Anyway, my "long shot" bet didn't remotely have the success. I had St. Louis & Cleveland.

Yeah, probably in the range of +40000 I'd guess.
  23. Personally, I think Halloween is stupid. That said, if people want to have their fun, let them. To restrict based it on a faux agenda is pure pandering and does nothing but harm the majority more than help the minority.
