Impeachment inquiry of Joe Biden begins- over Hunter Biden
TBayXXXVII replied to The Real timschochet's topic in The Geek Club
Just proves my point that there are not just 537 people in federal government (House, Senate, and WH), there are 537 corrupt people in federal government. -
Environmentalists, oddly, aren't very bright when it comes to the environment... are they?

Worst 3 offenses in the NFL - Patriots - Patriots - Patriots

Doubt it, but they would be better than 3-10. Maybe 5-8. -

I think the bigger issue is that all 3 have crappy QB's... Mac Jones, Daniel Jones, and Garoppolo aren't that good (pre-injury), and their backups aren't anything special either. -
This. It's why I say that Fantasy sports is virtually all luck. You can only make a prediction based on past experience. It never takes into account human nature/impact and never takes into account weather. When I say weather, I mean historically. Sure, in this weeks Green Bay/Tampa game in Green Bay, we'll know the weather. Anyone remember what the weather was last year in their Week 3 matchup in Tampa? I don't. Willing to bet no one else does either, unless they somehow got screwed by a player in that game. Also willing to be that all these "experts" don't really track the weather either. That's why they all say, "Well, it's going to be windy in Green Bay on Sunday, so you may want to temper your expectations". They never say, "Well, last year when these two met in Tampa, there were really high winds from the coming hurricane, and everyone sucked that day, so they're all likely to suck on Sunday".

Good idea. That would solve a lot of the problems on city streets.

Yeah, a freak incident then. It happened to my son when he was 4, but he was really sick at the time, so it wasn't completely unexpected. Very scary when it happens.

Right, it would point to the manufacturer as the guilty party. What are the odds that the government will force the manufacturer be the party at fault? I'm going with 1 in a billion chance... you? So, if the consumer is the one that's responsible, then the manufacturer shouldn't be allowed to put it on the market without almost a 100% reliability factor.

To him, or are you saying "in general"? The people who are more susceptible to this are tall / thin people & smokers... assuming he didn't get hurt, have lung cancer, or went scuba diving recently.

They're not his conclusions, they're conclusions of the study.

So now you disagree with science?

He's waiting for an activist group to perform a study that will "debunk" the study you posted.

Never said it was anything, just giving my opinion.

Pretty simple really. If the cars driven by humans are 85% safe, then 15% of the time, the problem is the human... yes? If driverless cars are 86% safe, then 14% of the time... who's the problem? If the problem is the AI, why should the human be held accountable? If the human isn't, then who is? The car manufacturer? If not, who? Anyone?

This should be music to the ears of the other airlines. Chubbers will start using Southwest, meaning thinner customers for the other airlines.

The one show he did that I did watch was Gideon's Crossing. I liked that show. The rest, I don't recall watching.

Shohei Ohtani - 1st 75 million per season athlete?

Shohei Ohtani - 1st 75 million per season athlete?
TBayXXXVII replied to edjr's topic in The Geek Club
Back to Ohtani, on the field he will NEVER be worth his pay. Next year he won't pitch at all, maybe in the post-season. To some, that may justify the money. The thing is, he's had 2 TJ's in the last 5 years. One more, and he literally may never pitch again. Let's say that based on averages, he's likely to get one in 2027... so he'll pitch ever 6 days (like with the Angels... maybe even less), and hit as DH for the 3 seasons after next. The final 6 years of his deal, he'll be a $70M AAV designated hitter. So, 0% chance that he actually earns his money on the field. Where he'll earn the money (for the Dodgers), is off the field. There, he'll probably be making pennies on the dollar compared to what the Dodgers make. Again, this is why baseball needs a salary cap. -
Shohei Ohtani - 1st 75 million per season athlete?
TBayXXXVII replied to edjr's topic in The Geek Club
Yup. Prior to becoming a true power presence, Ruth had a total of just over 400 plate appearances and 890 IP over 3+ seasons. In that same time frame, which you may hear people argue is a harder brand of baseball , Greg Maddux had 250 plate appearances 674 IP. I guess Maddux was a great two-way player too. -
The global diversity executive at Facebook stole 4 million dollars
TBayXXXVII replied to kilroy69's topic in The Geek Club
That was my initial thought... but of course, common sense tells you that the company isn't going to just spend money. They're going to want to keep their profit margin and/or increase it. Hence, the best way to offset extra spending is to increase the price of goods and services. So it's not the company spending their own money, they're just passing the expense on to the customer. -

I have no problem with anyone trying, I'm just saying that giving the people the ability to let the car do the driving is recipe for failure. It better be dam near perfect before it's on the market, regardless of who is doing it. If Mercedes has done it, great.

That sucks. I liked that dude. Quality actor. I remember him from Glory, Primal Fear, City of Angels, and a few others... solid actor.

Auto pilot shouldn't be made available to the public at all, until it's been tested to the point where they know (and are willing to be held 100% financially liable), that the success rate is at least 99% safe/accurate.

GOP Texas AG blocks abortion of dead baby
TBayXXXVII replied to The Psychic Observer's topic in The Geek Club
I'm a conservative and I'm ok with abortion being legal if the person is paying for it themselves AND the woman is 20 weeks or less. Otherwise, no. If my options are unlimited duration and government paying for it, I'm voting for no abortion at all. So yes, I'm in the majority where I'm ok with it in some circumstances... but not others. If I'm forced the options of extremes, which are the only two on the table (politically), I'm siding with no the right and not the left.
