I was specifically talking about Michael Vick. The criticisms about him were and still are, dead on. He was a great athlete and terrible QB. The NFL has changed, so the rules make it easier for the Michael Vick type QB's can translate better. That said, there hasn't really been any successful QB's with the trait of great athlete/bad QB. Can you name any? I mean, Lamar Jackson is possibly the closest you can get. Even still, coming out of the draft, it was known that he was a raw passer that needed time to develop. I think he's at the point where he's a fairly decent QB. If he was no longer able to run, I think he'd be "ok". Vick was never "ok". He was always bad... just novel. It took some teams a little time to figure him out. The modern day NFL QB's that resemble Vick would RG3, Manziel, Tebow, & Fields. None of them had or will have a good NFL career.
